Michael handed the suitcase to Dimas and asked him to open it.
"What's this?" ask Dimas curiously.
"That's a gift from Mama to you, open it."
Dimas opened the suitcase slowly, I don't know if he felt his chest a little tight. There was a sense of longing and also fear that enveloped his feelings this time around.
"Digital pen" Dimas stared at Michael, questioningly. Not only one but many recording devices in the form of a digital pen, each Pen has a number attached.
"That's Mama's habit, every Sister's birthday, she always records her voice there hoping one day you can hear her heart."
Dimas tried to turn on the pen with the smallest patch of numbers, the number 8.
"Hallo unfortunately Mama, how are you? We haven't seen each other for 2 months, mom is very upset. I'm sorry Mama wasn't next to you on your 8th birthday. Stay a strong boy, baby. Mama just gave birth to your sister, she's only one month old now. Stay healthy, baby, forgive Mama yes, if your attitude has failed you so far. Bye unfortunately Mama hopefully in the near future we can meet ya, mmuaaachhhh" Mama Tina ended the recording with a kiss.
Dimas smiled with teary eyes, Michael continued to pay attention to the reaction of his older brother. Dimas again picked up a pen with the number 10, and pressed the button until he heard the voice of the woman he missed.
"Hallo unfortunately Mama, Happy birthday. Mama misses you dear. Mama came home to see you, but Grandpa kicked Mama out. Mama regrets betraying your father's trust and your grandfather's. But Mama didn't give up, and eventually even though she had to hide, she could see you at school. Mom's handsome son walks in with his girlfriend. You can finally see your smile, my dear. Thank you for your smile for treating your dear Mama's longing. Keep smiling because your smile is the greatest happiness for me."
Dimas smiled again, surely the woman his mother meant was Manda, the woman who used to always be there when he was so devastated by the separation of his parents. The woman who accompanied him was over 14 years old, accompanying him in both joy and sorrow.
This was the reason Dimas did not have the heart to eliminate the woman. However, he owes much to Manda. Without Manda by his side first, I don't know what his life would be like. The woman was present when she really needed someone's support. It was the woman who grabbed his hand first, encouraged him and accompanied him to achieve his dream.
Although the current position of Manda has been replaced does not mean Dimas forgets the good that Manda has given. Dimas chose to be patient with time to prove the child who is in the womb of Manda.
When Dimas tried to pick up another digital pen, he saw a USB stick there.
"What's this USB?" ask Michael.
"That's a video tape of Mama for you, sister, but before you see the contents of that USB can you promise me one thing?"
"What?"
"Never grieve or blame anyone for your separation. Mama likes your smile the most, so stay strong and smile for Mama." Michael touched his brother's fingers, Dimas grasped Michael's hand with his other hand.
"Don't worry, even if I'm disappointed, I won't blame anyone. I accept all of this as my destiny, and I will give my best smile to Mama. But you also have to promise me to take me to see Mama. I also miss her hugs and smiles a lot, you know I haven't seen her in 23 years. But his face and smile are still well stored in my head" said Dimas, looking happy, imagining he would be able to meet again with the woman who had made him present in this world.
Dimas smiled remembering his memories of his mother. He plugged the USB into the big television in front of him.
The first time he saw were recordings of himself taken secretly by his mother from childhood to adulthood. His mother was always watching him.
"Why is it my picture all where the video footage contains the picture of Mama" Dimas protested to Michael.
Dimas silently stared at the picture of the screen in front of him. It was a picture of his mother lying helplessly on the patient's bed. He saw his mother accompanied by Michael and a man who was his father's age. It was clear that there was sadness on the faces of the two men.
He saw clearly his mother who forced to open the oxygen hose in his mouth. The woman's body had many scratches and several bandages covering the wounds on her body.
"Dimas.." one sentence that came out of his lips and made his breath again sting. It was seen that Michael who re-worn the oxygen hose on his mother, initially rejected by his mother but because of persuasion Michael finally his mother let Michael re-install the oxygen hose for him.
Michael took a piece of paper and a pen to his mother, knowing that her mother wanted to deliver a message to her beloved son. And Roy was the one who recorded their moment together.
With tears and hands that shook the woman incised letter by letter. Dimas saw clearly that his mother looked troubled but he did not give up, he continued to scratch the ink on the white paper.
Dimas could not say anything like his tongue as a club, even his body stiffened. Only her tears represented her current feelings. Michael who recalled those memories also shed his tears. He clasped his brother's hand as if he wanted to strengthen it.
Dimas continued to stare at the video in front of him without even blinking an inch, he felt a bad premonition. He felt claustrophobic, eager to hug the body of the woman in the video who was still seen struggling to write something. The woman looked troubled and many times dropped her pen but the middle-aged man beside her continued to help her.
His mother then smiled trying to lift the paper but looked troubled. Michael who knew his mother's intentions helped the woman to show the results of her writing.
...MOMMY DARLING DIMAS....
...EXCUSE ME......
Dimas read the writing with his smile and tears. Writing with great difficulty written by his mother. It is seen that his mother has not finished her writing but at least Dimas understands the meaning of the writing.
Dimas cried in silence watching his mother smilingly staring at the camera. Showing the best smile she has ever missed. She returned the woman's smile with her best smile even though her tears kept flooding her cheeks.
The sight of the woman's hand drooping down shocked Michael and the middle-aged man next to her. Michael pressed the button asking for help from the doctor to see the condition of his mother. Dimas pecked at the sight of it all, he felt a tightness and pain as if thousands of daggers had pierced his heart.
Dimas could not see his mother anymore because it was covered by the body of doctors and nurses who tried to save the woman's life. The doctors made various rescue efforts. One by one they retreated, and his smiling mother saw him with her eyes closed.
Looks Michael and the middle-aged man approached the body that had been stretched stiff and noiseless. The cries and calls of the woman's name were clearly heard in Dimas's ear.
Dimas could no longer hold his voice. The man's cry broke, Dimas shouted loudly calling his mother's name in his cry. He roared loudly to his mother and apologized to her mother.
"Mama.., sorry Dimas ma sorry. Sorry Dimas Ma, sorry...." The man felt a large screen displaying his mother's face. With his body and trembling hands he stroked the face of his mother who was on that screen.
The biggest thing Dimas regretted was that Don't make his mother happy, he hasn't even hugged and kissed her since their 23-year separation. He regretted not fighting hard to find the whereabouts of his mother. He regretted not accompanying the woman who gave birth to him in his last moments.
Michael approached his brother and hugged the man's body which looked so shocked by the passing of his mother. No words came out of Michael's lips. Only hugs and gentle strokes on his back His trembling sister held back his cries.
