"Sir, wait here first, yeah. I'm going inside, waiting for Laras, so he's not confused."
Niken got off the rickshaw, and told the rickshawman to wait.
Niken waited near the school exit, so that Laras could see it clearly.
TENG TENG!
The sound of bells, lesson marks ending is heard. There was also a boisterous cheering of children in some classes. Niken just smiled.
"Well, Laras' mother, is she cured?"
"Yes." Yeah." Sahut Niken smilingly responded to the greeting of a mother mother.
Actually, Niken was less familiar with him, but, still trying to be friendly.
"Mama!" Laras ran a little while holding his backpack to Niken's place.
"Laras has guessed, if Mbah is picking up."
"But, mama picked me up!" Excited Niken as she stretched out her arms to hug the other daughter.
"Let's go home!" Take Niken while holding his daughter.
"Mama, what are we riding?"
"Mama was riding a rickshaw, that's, his father is still waiting."
Laras smiled, then walked with his mother to the rickshaw.
"Ma, at school there was a new friend, from Jakarta. Name's Amanda. Beautiful again. Indeed, if the city people are beautiful, beautiful, yes, like artists."
"Who said the city people are beautiful. There are many beautiful Yogya too. Like the little girl next to my mom."
Niken sniffed out his daughter's nose.
"Ah, this mama. It's smartest to praise people."
The two laughed together.
"Ma, look at Amanda, the new kid, how'd she walk on her own?"
"Was no one picking up?" Ask Niken.
"I don't know." Sahut Laras shook his head.
"Sir.. Sir, please stop for a moment!" Pinta Niken while looking back at the pedal pedal pedal pedal bicycle pedal.
"Excite, Mom." Sahut pedicab politely while pulling the pedicab on the side of the road.
"You wait, right here, let me, mama asked your friend."
Laras nodded.
"Wait a minute, yes, sir." Pinta Niken once again politely to the rickshawman.
"Good, Mom."
Niken walked over to a boy who was walking slowly, wiping his sweat.
"Amanda?"
The little girl stepped back and acted alert, staring intently at Niken.
"Don't be afraid, I'm Laras' mother, that's her son waiting in a rickshaw."
"Amanda!" Shouted Laras while jumping from the rickshaw.
Niken can only shake his head.
A small running bar approached them.
"Why are you walking here by yourself?" Ask Laras wonder.
"My dad forgot the key, so I can't get in the house."
Answer the little girl named Amanda.
"Nobody's home?" Ask Niken curiously.
Amanda shook her head weakly.
Niken took a deep breath.
"Yes, already, you go to the house of Laras first, yes. Later, Auntie calls your papa to let you know you're at Laras' house." Say Niken with a smile.
"Ma, Amanda's coming with us?" Ask Laras.
"Yes." Yeah."
"Horay... Go Amanda!" Invite Laras while pulling the arm of his new friend.
*
"Come, wash your hands wash your feet first! Baras, don't forget to change the clothes!" Niken's orders while putting down her shopping, headed to the kitchen.
"Who's that, Ma'am?" Ask Bude Ning.
"That's Laras' friend. He said the new kid from Jakarta. He said his house was locked, his father forgot to read the house keys, so he couldn't get in. Yeah, well, the little kasian hot afternoon gini, outside, definitely haven't eaten either. Yes, I'll take it home. I'll call his family."
Bright Niken while handing plastic groceries to Bude Ning.
"Pity." Bude Ning muttered as he received the plastic and dismantled the contents.
"By the way, get Amanda to eat first!"
"Yes, Ma!"
Niken called Laras's homeroom teacher to ask for Amanda's papa's phone number.
Niken sighed for a moment, while staring at the row of phone numbers given by the teacher.
Niken pressed the number on his phone, then pressed the call button.
Tut's...Tut's... Tut's...
There's no answer.
"Maybe, the father is busy. But, if not told, he must be confused. Hmmm, my intentions are good, just tell me that her son is in my house. He won't be angry." Mumbled Niken while staring at his phone back.
Then take a deep breath back and try contacting again.
Ringing to the end the call is raised.
"Yes, hello?" The heavy voice of the man across there, made Niken's guts faintly.
"Yes, hello. Is this true with Amanda's dad?" Ask Niken.
"Yes, right, who's this with?"
"This is with Laras' mother, Amanda's friend. We met Amanda on the street, she said her house was locked, and she couldn't get into the house. So now Amanda's in my house, in the Barrel house."
Say Niken in one breath.
"Wait, hold on a second. Amanda can't get in the house? Holy jeez!" The man's voice sounded like he was sorry.
"It's with Amanda's mama's friend, huh?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"good. Could you tell me his home address, I'll be picking up my daughter soon."
"Sir, if you're busy, you can finish the job first, after it's done, Amanda's picked up is also okay. This is Amanda having lunch with Baras."
"Oh, is it troublesome, Mother?" Papa Amanda's question sounded awkward.
"No. My daughter was even happy to have her friend play at home."
"Good, Mom. At about three o'clock, I'll pick up Amanda. Don't forget the full address, ma'am. Sorry troublesome. Thank you, Mom."
"Good, Sir. Same same.
Niken closed her cell phone call, and breathed a sigh of relief.
After doing homework together, Laras and Amanda play in Laras' room, there is a small laugh and Senda jokes from inside her daughter's room. Niken, I can only smile.
By late afternoon Bude Ning had said goodbye to go home after finishing ironing clothes.
Niken put the ironed clothes into the closet, and peeked into the room Barrel. Two girls of that age were asleep from exhaustion.
Niken slowly came out of the room, and sat on the sofa while playing her phone replying to some incoming messages from friends and Bima.
GECK...GECK..GECK..
I heard the door knocking. Niken immediately stood up and headed to the living room.
Niken opened the window curtain and saw someone standing behind her back at the door.
Niken glanced at the wall clock in the living room, and had shown three o'clock less.
"Don't let's not Amanda's dad." Think Niken.
Then Niken opened the door, and saw a sturdy man, handsome face, and a friendly smile at Niken.
"Sorry interfering. Right this is Laras' house, Amanda's friend." Say that man politely. From his voice Niken recognizes that this is Amanda's father.
"Yes, I'm Laras' mother. That was the one who called Mr."
"Oh, yes. Sorry to bother."
"Not what. Oya, please come in first, sir."
"Oh, I'm just sitting on the porch." He said in an unpleasant tone.
"It just so happened that Amanda was sleeping, I woke up for a while."
"Yes, I'm so sorry." He returned while apologizing.
Niken can only smile amusedly at the behavior of his father Amanda who went awry.
Niken woke Amanda.
The little girl rubbed her eyes, and grabbed her bag, tidied up her book, and stuffed it into the bag. Then slowly follow Niken towards the front porch.
"Well, Papa's son. Sorry, yes, the key was accidentally brought by papa!" He said while crouching looking at his daughter.
Amanda just nodded slowly while looking lazy.
"Well, we'll go home, you'll continue sleeping at home." Said the man to Amanda.
Then the man turned his head towards Niken who was still standing in the doorway.
"Sir, sorry, there's a little food, you can make a snack at home later." Niken offered a box of food containing fried bananas and his homemade bakwan.
"Gosh, Mom. Very much thanks. Sorry for the hassle, instead brought gini food."
"Ah, it's okay. I mostly do that too." Said Niken.
"Good, Mom. Excuse me first. Thanks again." Pamit papa Amanda, while holding her daughter to a car.
Niken stared at their departure until the car was no longer involved in the streets.
