"Bim, it seems, Niken mom just take it home to Jakarta. Laras just come with mom." Said Bu Lusi in the living room after returning from the Bima residence commemorating the 40 days of Mr. Widodo's death.
"But, Mom, Niken's still on medication here."
"In Jakarta there are also many good doctors. I'll find the best for Niken."
Sahut Bu Lusi while sitting.
"I'm sorry for Mother's treatment of Niken."
Bima bowed sadly.
"If you had, I'd have realized, your mother would have treated Niken like this, mother...."
Bu Lusi sipped her tears slowly from sadness and disappointment.
"I'm sorry for My Mom, and I haven't been able to reconcile Mom with Niken."
Bima held the back of Bu Lusi's hand, with regret.
"Bim, Niken never told Mom this. Especially to her brother. If, Bagas knew, he would be very angry, and immediately take Niken away from here. But, I know, Niken still has hope that your mother will accept him, even if, not him. At least Barrel. But, Laras was not well received by your mother." Bu Lusi shook his head in sadness.
"I'm sorry, Mom. Bima promised, will keep Niken and Laras, no matter what happens. The old man could convince me, Niken to marry me. You are also always willing to accept Niken as it is. In fact, it was you who could always dampen Mother's anger against Niken." Bima laughs at the memory of Mr. Widodo.
"Your father is a good man. Niken has always admired, Your father, he has always missed the figure of a father all this time. Then he met you and your father. Even though your mother's treatment was not good to her, Niken still remembered the kindness of your father, Bima. But, now, your father is no more. Niken is like that too. It would be nice, Niken, I take it to Jakarta only. So you can focus on working here. Well, your job, or the factory."
Bu Lusi looked at Bima with a sharp, yet gentle gaze.
"Here you go, it's late at night, mommy wants to go to bed first. You just rest first."
Bu Lusi got up from his seat, and went into the room of Laras, to sleep.
Bima moved, from her chair, then locked the door of the house, then headed for the room.
"I heard all your talk with mom." Niken flipped her body, and painstakingly tried to sit on the back of the bed.
"Niken, come on, get some sleep. Don't think about your mother's words. I will try my best to protect and defend you. You are my wife. And Laras is my daughter."
"But, you'll be troubled, Mas. I thought about this many times too. But, all this time, I'm still trying to survive, to live this with you, Mas. But, since last night, your mother even rejected you and thought I didn't exist. Not just me, but Laras. The barrel of his grandson is completely unacceptable to your mother, Mas. What's our son's fault, Mom?"
Said Niken while wiping her tears.
"So, you want to go with mom? Leave me alone, face all this."
He can shake his head and sit on the edge of the bed.
"I don't know, Mas. Sometimes my condition is unstable. But, I don't want to trouble you to take care of me."
"I love you, Niken. Accept you under any circumstances. You remember, when we first got married, and lived in a boarding house in Jakarta. You want to do everything with me. Then, when I get a job offer in Yogya, you also want to follow. Even give up your career. You want to help Mr. at the factory with a much lower salary when in Jakarta first. It saves, and we go through all of this. Facing mom together."
Bima looked at Niken, who was still bowed sadly.
"But I'm handicapped, Mas. That's right what your mother said. What can I do? I'm a disabled wife, I can't be devoted to my husband and family."
Bima hugged Niken.
"Sstttt... You can't think like that. Rest assured, you must be healed, and we can get through this."
Bima stroked his wife's back gently.
"Sleep! Tomorrow's therapy schedule again, right?"
Niken nodded slowly.
Then lay his body on the mattress, assisted by Bima.
