What happened to Xiaoxiao?

"Senior Han, you know Xiao'er right? Why just shut up?" said Mu Lian.

"Who? You mean that girl just now?" ask Han Tengfei.

"..."

"When I met her, she always followed me. Sometimes we cross paths while I'm on patrol," Han Tengfei said.

"Hmm? Usually Xiao'er was so busy that he came home late," Mu Lian said.

"I hope so. But the girl was always trying to chat with me," Han Tengfei said. Mu Lian and Hang Tengfei stopped in front of the gate of Master Mu's house.

That night the air was very cold but Mu Lian repeatedly turned her body on the bed like she was hot. His wide-open eyes seemed to be thinking about something.

"I have to go see Xiao'er," Mu Lian muttered. Although he had made up his mind, Mu Lian was still nervous to the point of not being able to sleep.

Without feeling Mu Lian heard the sound of someone's footsteps in the hallway. The man came down the stairs. Mu Lian got up from her bed then exited the room and opened the window in the hallway.

By morning?. Mu Lian then changed her clothes in a hurry and went out without saying goodbye to Chu Minishen who was breathing fresh air in the grounds.

"Uncle Dongshan! Hasn't Xiao'er left yet?" said Mu Lian. He rushed into the grounds and found Dongshan sitting in the reception hall.

"Xiao'er has left since then," Dongshan said.

Mu Lian sat across from Dongshan listlessly. Mu Lian's struggle to meet Xiaxiao until she stayed up was futile.

"Have breakfast?" ask Dongshan.

"Not yet" replied Mu Lian.

"Let's have breakfast" Dongshan said. Mu Lian followed Dongshan for breakfast.

The next few days Mu Lian failed to meet Xiaoxiao. Out of annoyance, that day Mu Lian was lazy to do anything and fled to the south hill.

Mu Lian sat cross-legged in the meadow that was rarely overgrown with herbs. Inhaling the scent of fresh grass made Mu Lian smile.

Mu Lian immediately meditated, not missing this golden opportunity. The wind blew making Mu Lian's hair look like it was dancing around her shoulders.

Several small and cute animals such as squirrels, rabbits and birds surrounded Mu Lian. The spiritual butterflies that were usually seen around the spiritual grass perched all over Mu Lian's body.

Mu Lian conversed with Dongshan and Yi Xue for a while then decided to go to the inn to meet Meimei. He told me everything he felt about Xiaoxiao.

Meimei's face showed concern and advised Mu Lian to be prepared with the upcoming events. Mu Lian was just stunned but thanked him and went home.

The opportunity to meet Xiaoxiao finally came when Mu Lian had given up. At that moment Mu Lian came home from the inn. The two met in front of a shop that sold dumplings.

"Xiao'er," Mu Lian said.

"Jiejie?" xiaoxiao was surprised.

"You bought dumplings for lunch?" said Mu Lian. The sun is already overhead.

The Xiaoxiao that Mu Lian remembered always came home late so never had lunch at the clinic. So Mu Lian felt it was not strange to see Xiaoxiao was buying dumplings during the day. Yet Mu Lian caught Xiaoxiao's unease.

"Jiejie didn't go to the clinic?" Xiaoxiao. Usually Mu Lian works at the clinic with Dongshan.

"I asked permission for a day" Mu Lian said embarrassedly.

"Then I go first" Xiaoxiao said.

"Wait!" mu Lian said as she pulled Xiaoxiao's arm "Can we talk?"

"Because I've been working hard to see you. I'm not gonna let go of this opportunity. Sorry, Xiaoxiao," Mu Lian muttered as she followed Xiaoxiao within a safe distance.

Xiaoxiao went outside a residential area near the border. Not far from there some members of the Great Eagles were sitting in a circle.

The dishes were served and Mu Lian, Dongshan and Yi Xue waited for Xiaoxiao to come down to join but did not come down after thirty minutes later.

They began to eat and did not call Xiaoxiao, fearing that Xiaoxiao was resting. The girl rarely came home during the day.

Because it was a quiet day for visitors, Mu Lian chatted with Dongshan until late in the afternoon. Mu Lian accepted Dongshan's invitation to dinner together.

Mu Lian offered to call Xiaoxiao for dinner. Mu Lian knocked on Xiaoxiao's room door but there was no answer.

"Xiao'er, it's dinner time," Mu Lian said.

Mu Lian guessed Xiaoxiao was asleep so she walked into the room. Xiaoxiao was sitting by the bed. His head was looking down like he was contemplating.

"No way," Xiaoxiao said after a long silence.

"You're not feeling well? Then I'll just bring the food to the room" said Mu Lian.

"I'm not looking to see you," Xiaoxiao said as she stared intently at Mu Lian.

"Xiao'er?" mu Lian said confusedly.

"You know. I like you a lot. I consider you like my own older sister," Xiaoxiao continued "But do you know how long I've been waiting for Master Mu to teach me? Want to raise me as a student?"

Mu Lian was stunned. Finally realized why Xiaoxiao had always disappeared before him ever since Mu Lian was taught herbs by Mu Haoucun.

"Ten years! I work very hard and hope that Master Mu accepts me as his disciple," Xiaoxiao said as she shed tears.

Mu Lian was intending to approach Xiaoxiao to comfort her but Xiaoxiao raised her hand, telling Mu Lian not to come any closer.

Errs. Wait for. Mu Lian heard the topic of conversation had changed but she could not yet catch what Xiaoxiao wanted to say.

Occasionally Mu Lian glanced towards Dongshan who was eating quietly. Xiaoxiao's room was near the stairs and when Mu Lian came down to chase after Xiaoxiao, Dongshan stood there.

Dongshan seemed to hear Mu Lian talk with Xiaoxiao. But Dongshan said nothing after his daughter ran away to the dormitory and only invited Mu Lian to dinner.

That made Mu Lian nervous. Although Mu Lian was hungry but she had difficulty swallowing due to feelings of guilt.

After eating together, Mu Lian paid her respects to Dongshan and Yi Xue. The two said to be careful on the road to Mu Lian while smiling.

Mu Lian who saw Dongshan smiling felt a little relieved. Mu Lian came home with heavy steps. His head looked up at the sky full of stars. That night the star was very beautiful yet Mu Lian stared at the beautiful scene blankly.
