Life is like that. The higher the man, the more he wants to drop. While the lower the human, the more they want to step on.
In that thought, all of a sudden, he saw Arkan walking closer and closer towards them. Reaching out, that look made Maria a little stunned. It would be a lie if he said he didn't like the guy. For indeed, who does not like a handsome man is full of the charisma of an authoritative leader.
"Well ... Arkanzas. You are long time down. What the hell are you doing up there? Dressed up?" Her mother sounded annoyed as she glanced at her son who had just joined in their midst.
"Of course he dresses up to look more handsome, mama. All he wanted to meet was his future wife." The papa also satirized.
Arkan did not want to respond to what his parents had said. Seen from the look of the face that seemed to happen nothing when it can be satire as well as ridicule that should make him meet. Uh, of course he won't meet. Because he didn't expect that dinner to happen actually.
"Can we just eat right now, Ma, Pa? I'm hungry enough."
"Eh, can't. Where can I eat directly. Because I want you to take Maria around our house first before we eat."
"But, Ma. I'm hungry." Arkan.
"If you're hungry, just hold it for a second. Going around our house won't be long either." His father also spoke.
"true." Her mother welcomed her briefly.
Lazy rails were clearly drawn on Arkan's handsome face. Having no way of resisting, is Arkan's greatest weakness as a man in this house.
"alright. I'll take him around the house. How many times does it travel? A five? A ten? Or hundred?"
"Arkan." His father called out in an annoyed tone, with a dislikeful look of course.
"Yes-yes, okay. I'm just kidding."
"Well, honey, you're going to Arkan around the house first huh. Because as our future daughter-in-law, you must also know every corner of this house before becoming a daughter-in-law." Mama Arkan spoke while pushing a little of Mary's body to be near Arkan.
His calm face was still very clearly visible even though he was being pushed forcibly by his future in-laws. Maria also still had time to carve a smile while saying words in agreement with what her future in-laws said.
For a moment, Arkan praised the calm Mary had. He really felt there was a change from the first Maria he met, with Maria now beside him.
"Come on! I invite you to eat the wind before eating food" Arkan said as he left his parents.
"alright. I like to eat the wind. But not much."
The two Arkan parents looked at each other at the talk of the two young people who had just left them.
"What are they talking about anyway, Pa?" Mama Arkan asked in a very confused tone.
"Where papa knows. Papa doesn't understand what they're talking about?"
"Eat the wind? What kind of a conversation is that?"
"Don't know, Ma .... Ah, let it go. Maybe it's the chatter of young people today to feel more familiar."
"Yes, yes, yes." Mama Arkan spoke while nodding her head.
The steps of Maria and Arkan continued unceasingly. They kept walking following where their footsteps wanted to go.
But, despite walking on, they did not say a single word at all. They were accompanied only by silence as they set their feet.
Arkan was more and more amazed at the calm demeanor that Maria had. The calm is far in the limit of the average woman has in general.
"Aren't you scared now?" ask Arkan while looking to the side. Although she could not see the face of the person she was talking to well, but at the very least, she respected the person she was talking to.
"No." Maria answered with a short answer. It further expands the curiosity that is in Arkan's heart.
"Why? Isn't it so dark? Something scary could happen in this darkness? What then? Why don't you feel the slightest fear?"
"Who said I didn't have any fear? I'm human. Women again. Of course I have fears and unpleasant thoughts in situations like this."
"Then? Why are you still calm?"
"Should I shout like someone who was asking for help when he was about to drown in the sea? Or ... like the man in the middle of the fire, Mr Arkan?"
The question made Arkan silent for a moment. Then, he took out his cell phone from his pants pocket. Turn on the cell phone flashlight so they can get lighting even if only a little.
"Why not from earlier?" ask Mary in a soft voice. But, Arkan could still listen to those words.
"The reason is .. I think you like the dark. That's why you don't turn on your flashlight. I'm sure you have a device too, right?"
"Have. But unfortunately, my phone is lowbat. I forgot to charge before I got here."
"Oh, so."
"Yes." Yeah."
After that short chat, they went back to silence. Electricity is still not on even though they have spent more than ten minutes without moving from the park.
"What's this about? Why did the lights die so long? What the hell is going on? There is nothing noisy in your house either. Is this ... already planned?" maria asked and began to express the curiosity that had been in her heart five minutes ago.
"Maybe." Arkan answered briefly without looking.
"Maybe? So, you're in on this plan? I mean, you know and you agree with the plan that somebody made for us?"
"I can what? Mama papa may be the real mastermind of the lights off in this back garden. They want us to be close this way."
Maria turned her head towards the man beside her after she heard the resigned tone of the words the man had just spoken. Maria snorted softly so that, Arkan who was beside her did not hear at all.
"Arkanza. I have one question for you. Answer me honestly!"
"Can. But ... What did you call me? Arkanza?"
Maria simply replied with a nod. Then, return Arkan's gaze for a moment.
"Yes. Wh why? Is something wrong?"
"none. It's just, I feel the call is a little different than before."
"Where's the difference?"
"You used to call me Arkan. But tonight, I don't know where the word brother went. And, instead, I heard you directly call me by my full name."
