The Tetuka Adiwira

The Tetuka Adiwira
The Hikayat Negarakrtgama Ihwal Dua

Some time before this phenomenon became so great now, I actually have often appeared on television as a source of experts who discuss social issues. I often explain these social problems on the basis of some very strong theories. When this issue appeared in the media, I also actually had time to explain that the current society, supported by the media, felt that it was in need of a hero.

This heroine, mixed with the films that people watch from American superhero culture, forms a hope for them. The corruption of the authorities and police, political elites, criminals and wealthy people untouched by the law has fed society. They need a hero figure, which, although initially fictional, then with a variety of events that are actually random they combine into related events. The voila! Before long they finally managed to create a real hero. Some people started claiming to see this person flying, or running very fast, or beating criminals with their bare hands.

Perhaps psychologically, this is included in the mere exposure effect, where everyone has the same choice just because they are familiar with it. The superhero figure is a figure that is familiar with the concept of hope for the community. So, no wonder people feel that they really believe in the existence of the figure.

The theories I have expressed and my figure are very popular among the media and researchers. As a result of my popularity in the media, the politicians and rulers felt a little calm. This was because it was as if someone had managed to convince them that everything would be fine. There is no hero or superhero, the one who has extraordinary powers that cannot be killed because his skin is immune and does not work against sharp weapons and bullets.

There is no one who can fly into space with all his heart to go anywhere. There is no hero who defends truth and justice and he beats up and paralyzes all the bad guys with his bare hands. Politicians began to believe their position was safe, that they were overreacting when they worried that the figure existed. They are comfortable again and feel stupid why they had worried even fear over the news that is not clear where it comes from.

Ironically, I was the first to convince the world that it was all wrong. My initial theories were wrong, their minds were wrong, and most of all I was wrong!

In an interview on a private television station, I explained my initial premise about the mysterious figure who not only adorned the glass screen and media but also filled the news beat the news of the flood that occurred every year in the capital.

“Margaret Van Till, a Dutch scholar once explained in his research in 1996 about a historical and legendary local hero in his writing, Si Pitung. The figure is a legend of Betawi ethnic origin who is famous for his magic and of course resistance to Dutch colonial occupation at that time. The nature of the hero is known as the defender of truth and justice, where crime at that time was considered represented by the company and its minions.”

I let out a short breath.

“Then, what's wrong with Si Pitung, and what does that have to do with what we'll discuss this time?”

I continued my sentence with a little dramatized. “It is clear that the phenomenon of the legend of Si Pitung bears a resemblance to the phenomenon that we are facing lately.”

The private television presenter seemed impatient. He positioned himself in such a way as to focus on me. He shifted his sitting position towards me.

“Why is that Mr Country?” he asks.

Frankly, this presenter is very interesting. He has hosted several events where I am a guest and one of the speakers of various cases around social problems that occur in this country with a scale that is usually massive. Call it the problem of violence that occurs throughout the archipelago, from just brawls of students and students, to violent behavior between groups in the name of religion, ideology or ethnicity. Not until there, the case of behavior *** digress the nation's teenagers, corruption cases in the government, even unique issues around the celebrity lifestyle became my field of analysis. So often I was interviewed by him, slowly appeared a sense of interest in him. I unconsciously took a deep breath before answering her question.

“First, it is clear that the two figures either Pitung or the mysterious figure that we are discussing today are described as having power or call it as devotion, which can be said to exceed the strength of ordinary humans. Such as the depiction of the heroes or champions who are known almost all over the world. Pitung and the mysterious figure are both believed to be very strong physically, fighting both dueling and against several people at once. In addition, the most distinctive is that they are equally immune to weapons, both sharp weapons and modern weapons such as pistols or rifles. The Pitung was also known not to be able to be inclined to drizzle hot lead company troops. In fact, not exaggerating the similarities of the two, the Pitung was believed to be able to fly and disappear with a flash,” I explained at length.

The presenter's eyes widened and sparkled beautifully, a sign he was increasingly interested in this language. Even though his smile had not yet developed, I made sure he was very interested in continuing to dig information out of my mouth. He tucked the strands of his short hair behind his ears and placed his elbows on the table to support his chin.

Damn it, I must take a deep breath back to see this beautiful sight.

“Then, Mr. State, you have not explained anything about the relationship between the story of the Pitung and the phenomenon of this mysterious hero, or we can call a superhero possible, in addition to explaining their similarities, or we can call them,” he continued his question.

Want me to tell him to be a little patient because I'm building the foundation of my theory. But of course I didn't do it, instead I said “Ide is good Erika added. Maybe we can call it superhero enough. Maybe this television station can be the first television station to use the term superhero rather than a mysterious figure although indeed we have not been able to get enough information about it so it is still worth he called mysterious. But well I call the superhero.”

Erika pursed her tiny lips, raising her absolutely dark and perfectly curved eyebrows while tilting her head slightly. It's the body language I've known during meeting him on the talk show and the interview. That is, now he is showing that he does not mind.

So I continued too.

“Si Pitung known as the Betawi legend turned out to be a mysterious figure as well.”

“Oh yes?” Erika cuts. “Not Si Pitung is a legendary figure from the Betawi ethnic who really exists?”

“Oh yes?” I asked back. “Where did Erika know about Pitung's figure?”

“Mostly orally. Because of this legend I think it is told downhill from generation to generation. Well, although I also realize there must be a lot of additional hyperbole here and there about his figure. Besides Pitung is already very famous through ..”

“Film?!” it was my turn to cut this time.

Erika smiled at my response. Very charming.
