The One Night Stand

The One Night Stand
Where's Aleta?

Kara opened her eyes and wriggled straightening her body, yawning widely while straightening her hands upwards. Mom opens the door to the hotel room,

"You look so tired?"

Kara just nodded, then knocked down the bed again.

"Aren't you taking Cindy to her husband's?" ask Mama again.

"When did Cindy leave?"

"She's getting ready, mama's getting some of her clothes done."

Kara immediately woke up, washed her face, then helped Mama tidy up their luggage.

"Let me bring Cindy's bag down. Mama's gonna take you there?"

"No. Mom goes home, and there's a show at the restaurant. Mama had to prepare for the event," Mama Kara was still busy stuffing some stuff into the bag.

"Bring this into the lobby, you'll catch up!" Kara received the bag given by her mother, then went out to the elevator and immediately headed to the hotel lobby.

Kara's eyes catch a familiar figure, Kevin. The man looked busy with a few piles of bags nearby, Kara smiled as she carried a carry-on bag.

" Like I'm gonna add to your job ?" Kara handed the bag she brought to Kevin. Kevin accepted it while laughing.

"You didn't drive him?"

"No. I'm straight back to Washington tonight," Kara replied with a smile, greeted Oh, long from Kevin.

"This is only part of Cindy's goods, in a few days there will definitely be someone to come, deliver the goods left in her house" said Kara, pointing to the pile of bags in front of them.

"Do you know Cindy?" Kevin looked at Kara.

"Yes, we've been together since childhood." Kara sits on the sofa nearby, Kevin overtakes her dropping down sitting next to Kara.

"I'm tired!" he said while closing his eyes. Kara looked at the face of the man beside her, there was a strange shiver on her chest as she looked at his face, a sense that had been dead all along, now felt appearing again.

Kevin seemed to realize if someone was paying attention, then opened his eyes and made Kara surprised.

"Why?" ask Kevin. "Nothing what." Kara shook her head. They look at each other, with their own thoughts and feelings.

"Kara!" the sound of Cindy's call shocked Kara.

Kara hugged Cindy,

"I'm sorry, I didn't drive you" Kara whispered to Cindy.

"This time it's okay, but Thanksgiving tomorrow you have to come there!" Cindy round her eyes looked at Kara to confirm her request.

"Hmm, I can't promise" Kara said slowly.

"No! I want you to come, I'm mad at you if you can't come!" Cindy moved her index finger like her mother when she was angry when she forbade her from doing anything. Kara smiled and nodded in agreement.

Cindy happily hugged Kara.

Kevin who witnessed everything was happy, he did not know why he felt suddenly like this. Being near Kara, makes her feel happy.

Cindy's parents took her to her husband's family home, Andy and his wife also took her. Mama and Papa Kara have returned to their restaurant to work. Kara heads to her old coffee shop, which is now handed over to Andy.

Kara opens the door to the store, warmly welcomed by Matilda and all employees who know her.

Ben serves coffee to Kara, Matilda prepares food for him. Kara wants to cry, she misses the warmth she used to feel in the tavern.

Matilda approached Kara, though,

"Nonna, we all love you, don't torture yourself for too long. You deserve to be happy." Kara's cry broke out in Matilda's arms. Not feeling the tears Ami also flowed when watching Kara's sadness.

"It seems Andy is very good at taking care of this place," Kara looked around the room.

"Mr Andy adds to the food menu, sometimes turning into a pop-up restaurant on weekends once a month" Ben said.

"A very rapid progress, especially by adding tables and chairs on the terrace of the store."

"Stead, Nonna is still the owner of this store," said Ami while staring at Kara, in reply with a surprised look by Kara.

"really?"

"Yes, Mr. Andy is still adding your name to the store's holdings, that's the pancake and waffle menu still here."

Kara looked at the corner bench that used to be occupied by Josh, Josh's memories reappeared in Kara's head, for a moment Kara sighed and drank her coffee.

Kara spends her time at the Shop chatting with her employees, after approaching her flight schedule she immediately says goodbye.

Kara is actually very sad to leave everything, but the memories always appear to make her unable to do anything. The fear and trauma of losing Josh left him unable to work in the tavern or cook.

Kara had to follow a therapy program to eliminate the taste, until finally she was advised to go elsewhere. Sure enough, while in her new place, Kara can do activities as usual, even cooking can now be done in her new residence.

Take care of health always, do not forget to eat, always tell Mama. Love you

Kara read the message from her mother.

Love you too Mama

Kara replies to her mother's message, before she turns off her phone as the plane is about to take off leaving LA.

Kara enjoys the journey by sleeping on the plane, she wants to recover the energy to start her work.

Arriving at the airport, Kara immediately rushed to find a taxi to her apartment. The taxi driver helped drop off Kara's luggage and luggage upon arrival in front of the apartment. Kara dragged her luggage into the room.

Kara turns on the room lights, putting the box given by Matilda on the kitchen table.

Kara opened the box slowly, the smell of Matilda's cake smelled by Kara's nose, making her smile.

In the box there are various cakes and ready-to-eat food packaged stay heated only. Kara put them in the fridge one by one.

Kara opens the suitcase and puts her clothes back on, then throws her body onto the bed to rest for a while.

His eyes did not want to be closed, but his body felt tired. Kara took her phone and looked at the photo gallery. Kara smiles every time she sees a photo saved, her eyes stalled on the picture of herself and Kevin together.

When was this photo taken?

Kara tries to remember, but seems exhausted and unable to remember.

Kara looked at the portrait of herself and Josh at the little table by the bed, She misses him so much. Sometimes Kara wants to turn back that time, not allowing Josh to work, but keeping him company all day. After the incident, a policeman brought a box of rings bearing his name and Josh. His heart stopped beating, Josh was about to propose at his birthday.

Memories after memories danced in his head. Kara keeps her eyes closed and tries to sleep forgetting.
