THE NEW ERA IS BEGIN: Secret Organization (Indonesian)
Chapter 9 - Letter of Duty

The cigar smoke fades into the air, when it's in suction making a kind of comfortable feeling. Inside a quiet room with only the occasional sound of a storm snatching from outside the building, when one's eyes glanced down, he could see a file of neatly arranged documents on the table.

A man's hand picks up a cigar and puts it on the table. The burning remains of the dried leaves are now bright red but continue to blacken.

The smell of smoke though gave off a feeling of tightness in the chest, but to a Man within the Guild it was nothing more than the sweetness of the fragrance of flowers in the spring.

The man opened his mouth then smoke came out from there, then turned his head towards a short-haired girl nearby.

"Sonia."

Sonia stopped rubbing wet cloth onto the table to answer Teodor's post. He then folded the cloth and put it backwards while improving his posture. Seraya says—

"Yes, master?"

"The stuff you brought is pretty good, how did you get it?"

"That's a premium quality item from a port city in the west, it's not very expensive but it might be hard to find anywhere else."

Their eyes met for a moment, staring at each other in silence for quite a long time. Later then.

Sonia closed her eyes, she realized what Theodor wanted to ask was not actually a cigar.

"It's the master, just what exactly does the master want to ask?"

Take the cigar on the table and suck it back. Teodor gained peace of mind then started to open his mouth.

"I wonder what you think of the Guild's survival? Whatever it sounds bad or good, I don't care. "

They've been partnering long enough, so it wouldn't be surprising to state they understand each other. At least within certain limits.

Therefore, Sonia answered slowly.

"This guild is going to end, no, I mean the adventurous profession is coming to an end. "

"Why is that?"

"That's obvious, isn't it? The legendary Chimera that was wiped out the other day was the last powerful monster in the northern Guild. And if that were the case, there would be no more monsters to hunt, in the empire itself for example, there were only two Guilds left namely in the Capital and the Northern region. "

Faced with the massive exploitation of the Knight Legion, the forest ecosystem underwent a change. Even in the historical record it is said that the Imperial Knight Legion once hunted dragons.

That actually sounds good in the legend. But Theodore and Sonia saw it in another way.

"I've often told veteran adventurers, or at least C-rank and above, not to hunt monsters more than requested. However, the nonsense about hunting monsters for the peace of the population is often used by knights to eradicate the monsters, has influenced the view of adventurers. "

Something like taking advantage of someone else, perhaps the main reason adventurers behave like that.

Teodor sighed at Sonia's reply, he then rubbed his shoulders while muttering something.

"Hm... When I think about it, it sounds good. With the extinction of the monsters there will be no more complaints from the community. "

"Yes, it's good for knights to build a reputation, but it's bad for us adventurers."

Theodore saw it for a long time. He saw over the years how the quality as well as quantity of adventurers were decreasing, it clearly had a close attachment to the number of monsters left at the moment.

Either way, one can never cook without learning it, or one can never stand without ever learning to stand.

When Teodor saw the muscle in his own arm, he made him realize it to some degree.

"If the monsters are really extinct, then what about the fate of the people?"

The question flashed through Sonia's mind, when she saw her Master again picking up a cigar while sucking it out quietly.

"I don't know, but clearly joining the Knight Legion was an option."

"Huf..Master, I mean not only adventurers, but also people who live their lives around them."

Teodor furrowed his brows, he looked like a week of what Sonia wanted to convey. Even the peace of mind that he rarely got until now, even with the help of a puff of smoke, he still did not understand Sonia's words.

"You mean?"

"... Craftsmen, Potion sellers, innkeepers and road guides. Most of their customers are from the adventurous, if consumers do not have money then how do they sell goods or services?"

Most of their businesses are passed down from generation to generation. As if from the beginning they were born, of course it will be how they live their lives. To the point of creating a solid system that is mutually beneficial between adventurers and local business people.

But now it's not like before.

A system that lasts a long time but suddenly collapses, it is not easy to reassemble. Even changing it in another form, takes a long time.

That's in the assumption they didn't die during the process. Who knows how long it can take for someone.

"That's their business, we don't have the right to interfere."

"Yes, you're right. But it is our actions that have an influence on them."

Teodor chuckled at Sonia's words, he didn't expect his partner to be able to say something as good as that. This was definitely not like Sonia whom Teodor knew everyday.

"I didn't expect you to be able to think that far, is this an academic from a western port city?"

Sonia reached out her hand and started cleaning the table with the cloth back. This was the end of their conversation or at least that was what Sonia had expected.

While continuing to clean up, Sonia said to Teodor to confirm.

"Master misunderstood again. I just fulfilled the master's wish for a little chat."

Teodor answered with a flat breath.

The cigar Theodor had sucked up completely, and the sound of the storm was no longer heard.

After laying the cigar, Teodor stood up and began to step outside.

Sighing in a slow breath, he muttered.

"It looks like today's Guild will be deserted."

Step and keep going to the front of the door.

KREEK!!

A soft voice rang out as the door opened, Teodor's gaze pointed towards the sky where dark clouds still filled the horizon and a cold feeling on the skin from the blowing wind he still felt.

Although the storm had stopped, something similar to the storm he could see as his eyes began to turn towards the front.

A white-haired man, wet with drops of water continuously dripping down, stood right before Teodor.

Damp white hair covered the beautiful purple eyes of the man, he just stood up without saying anything. Theodore recognized him well.

But he did not know a little girl who was standing next to the man.

The little girl had frightening eyes that kept paying attention to Teodor's breath, in a rhythm that gave off quite a chill. From the girl's eyes, Teodor could see the reflection of her face but with a fairly dark color.

Then the girl opened her mouth like she wanted to say something.

"Uncle, do you know this master?"

The question was directed toward Theodor. It was clear what the little girl called uncle was Teodor himself..
