The Mystery of Lost Memory

The Mystery of Lost Memory
Martin's Gold Cage

Never in Martin's life would he have been so happy coming home from work. A beautiful woman he loved was waiting for him to come home, with a wide variety of delicious dishes cooked wholeheartedly. It felt happy, as if she and Karen were a couple of newlyweds who were drunk with romance.

Like the previous nights, today Karen also cook for Martin. And as usual, Karen's face was so flat expressionless, as she welcomed and served warm dishes on the dining table. Although his heart was slightly disturbed by Karen's silence, Martin's brain tried to dismiss him desperately. Karen must be fine, because whatever Karen asks, Martin will give her. Martin is not a poor man like Ray.

“You didn't eat?” ask Martin in astonishment.

After serving the dishes for dinner, instead of accompanying Martin to eat together, Karen just said goodbye to return to the room.

“I'm still full,” replied Karen briefly.

Martin frowned, looking at Karen in astonishment. Karen today and when she first met Martin were like two different people. Although her beauty did not fade, but a cheerful look was no longer seen on Karen's face. The woman looked very pale, with her eyes getting blacker and darker, her skin not fresh. Every morning Martin always chooses which clothes to wear Karen, and buy the best facial care for her, but Karen still looks like an undead.

“Darling, are you okay?” martin asked worriedly, after stopping Karen's steps.

Karen nodded, with a small smile.

“Do you need anything?” ask Martin again.

Karen shakes. “I just want to rest,”

Martin's brain and heart were arguing with each other. Her heart knew that Karen was not doing well, but her brain refused. His affection and possessiveness are very strong in Karen, making her brain dull and seemed to just want to think about herself.

After finishing eating and bathing, Martin, who had been wearing his nightgown, walked slowly toward Karen who was sitting quietly on the bedside. She wrapped her hands around Karen's waist, while leaning on Karen's shoulder.

“What are you thinking, Honey?” ask Martin.

Karen's eyes looked blank, staring at the thousands of lights produced by the vehicles and the buildings below. Martin's room has very large windows, which allow the owner to sleep while enjoying the city's backups below.

“What are we, Martin?” karen asked after a long silence.

“You mean?” Martin asked back, because he did not understand the purpose of Karen's question.

Karen glanced at Martin a little. “Why am I here?”

“Because you are my lover,”

“Why?” Karen Sambar. “Why don't we just get married?”

Martin remained silent. He knows he loves Karen. Very love. But the concept of marriage was not Martin's dream. He never believed in a bond called marriage, which to him was nothing but a bond on paper that was false and futile.

“Why should I get married?” ask Martin again.

“Today Sierra came,” Karen stood up, gently touching that big window with her five right fingers. “And she scolded me for changing the password of this apartment,” I'm Karen.

Martin whose emotions instantly stood up. “I'll reprimand him later,”

“Not that I mean,” a quick Karen bull. “Sierra can't scold me, if I'm your wife,”

Karen turned around, leaning slightly against the large window while looking straight at Martin's eyes. Martin's heart rippled as he looked at Karen who looked very charming in maroon satin pajamas, with long black hair that seemed to blend with the blackness of the urban sky.

He pushed Karen's body more and more attached to a large window, while hooking her fingers on Karen's. The two of them were fond of each other, full of passion and warmth. Unwittingly, tonight, Martin and Karen discover the latest way to play their hot game. That is, by facing the window and looking at the urban lights, from the top of the 100th floor of Martin's luxury apartment.

“Thank you, yes, dear,” Martin said after Karen laid a plate of breakfast for Martin.

Karen replied with a smile. This morning, unlike last night, Karen's face looked more cheerful, although the circumference of the black eyes had not faded.

“Last-lately I've never been able to sleep,” Karen complained, sipping her hot coffee.

“Don't drink most coffee, Honey,” forbid Martin with a loving look.

After saying goodbye, Martin rushed to his office. While Karen, her days after Martin's departure, is not the same as when she became Ray's wife. When with Ray, when her husband had gone to work, Karen always diligently cleaned the house and began her hobby of caring for orchid flowers in the backyard.

While with Martin, Karen did not immediately clean the dining table or other homework, such as when with Ray. He actually returned to the room, sat back on the edge of the bed and daydreamed there with an erratic mind. He thought of many things, from Ray to even the little things.

It's been six months since Karen lived in Martin's apartment, without ever being given the chance to get out of it. Like in the forest house, Martin also did not give Karen a penny, even though he always met Karen's needs. But as a human who likes to socialize and care for flowers, living confined in Martin's golden cage, is not Karen's dream.

Teett!!

The doorbell of the apartment rang, making the originally calm Karen, instantly anxious and trembling. Is that Sierra? Karen hurriedly ran up to the door, as the bell continuously rang without pause. Before opening the door, Karen tried to calm herself down who was constantly shaking nervously, so as not to make Sierra suspicious. But when she opened it, how shocked Karen was when she found out that the person in front of her was not Sierra.

The man in front of her is Sophie Willis, Martin's mother. The old woman seemed to smile with a neat row of her teeth. Then without permission, barged in and looked troubled carrying two heavy luggage. Sophie hurriedly placed the luggage onto the kitchen table.

“Karen, here I bring dessert and side dish for you,” Sophie said excitedly.

Karen nodded, trying to smile to hide her nervousness. But Sophie, a conglomerate woman who has waded through many of the acids of life, immediately knows the strange gelagat of Karen.

“Karen, you .. “

Not until Sophie continued her speech, Karen's body suddenly collapsed like cotton, without cue and fell to the floor of the apartment. Sophie screamed hysterically in shock, and rushed to the ambulance.

“Karen seems to be deliberately downing a lot of sleeping pills at one time. Better Mr. Martin make sure he is not stressed and depressed,” said Dr. Jev, Martin's personal doctor.

Martin covered his face with both hands, feeling great regret. She should know that Karen is depressed, not always dismissing in order to satisfy her own happiness. And now, as a consequence, Karen had to lie weakly in the hospital in a very apprehensive state.

“You shouldn't have been with her in the first place,” Sophie said, as the two waited in the waiting room in front of Karen's room.

Martin glanced at his mother, looking annoyed.

“Paul told me everything,” I'm Sophie. “How did you kidnap Karen, how did you force that woman to leave her husband, and most shamefully, how her ex-husband humiliated you in front of so many employees,” Sophie's story, with a visibly angry face.

“You should know, Martin. Paul is always watching your actions everywhere. He wants to find your vices so you can fall and he can get rid of them,”

“Why does my own father hate me?” ask Martin slowly.

Sophie shrugged her shoulders. “Paul always believed that you were not his son,”

Now it was Martin's turn to look at Sophie with a suspicious look. “Am I not Paul's son?” tanyakanya. “Please, be honest with me,”

Sophie knitted her eyebrows, not intending to answer Martin's important questions.

After the nurse confirmed Karen's condition, Martin did not think much, immediately entered the VIP room to see Karen's condition. The woman was still lying weak, yet she had already regained consciousness. Karen's pale gaze looked extremely pitiful when it was accompanied by unceasing cries. Martin fused close to Karen, clasping her right hand tightly.

“You all right, Honey? Why are you doing this?” martin asked worriedly.

Karen shook her head, with cries growing louder and louder.

“I can't, Martin. I can't keep this up all my life,” isak Karen. “Please, release me .. “
