The Moon Knight

The Moon Knight
Chapter 2: Dylan and Josh

Kukkuruyukkk. The sound of chickens crowing in the morning woke Lahar. He then rose from his seat, not to miss, he again put his sword on the left waist.

He walked to the window in the room and opened it. Highlight the morning sunlight directly highlighted the newly awakened lava face. Because it is still winter, so the sunlight in this morning is not too dazzling.

"Fresh air" said Lahar inwardly as he inhaled a deep breath of air and exhaled slowly.

Lahar then went outside the house to go to his cattle pen and his father who was not too big and made entirely of wood. When he arrived, he had found Jack (his father) had begun to take care of the livestock left by others.

There were 4 cows, 4 goats, and 2 horses in the stable. Every day, they both have to take care of the livestock that in fact does not belong to them. They are only trusted to care for the livestock and then the results of the livestock will be divided in two.

"What time did Dad come home last night?" tanya Lahar who slowly approached her father who was hot milking the cow.

With a smile, Jack replied, "Come, I don't remember much. Clearly it was nearing the end of the night."

Lahar is a very sensitive person. It can detect the number of people who are 5 meters around it. Even if he is sleeping. He will certainly realize if there are people or anything that moves around him, let alone walk in front of him. However, strangely enough, he could not sense his father's presence at all. Lahar himself until now still has not found the answer.

"That cow's already a milkman yet?" ask Lahar again.

"Here you go, let me take care of these cattle. By the way you've checked on the little boy you took home last night yet?" ask Jack back.

"Not yet, but when I just woke up, I could still feel the air of their existence still in the room. So, I think they are still asleep" Lahar replied.

"That's it, but you better check it out too, right? To just say good morning or something like that. Oiya by the way what are you planning to do next to recognize those 2 little ones? Are you going to take care of them next in this house?" ask Jack again.

"No, of course not. Actually later in the day I plan to take them to my colleague's place in the guild. It just so happened that he had some kind of orphanage for abandoned children" Lahar replied.

"Oh so, yes" Jack replied with a big smile. Jack is a very relaxed person. He is very rare and almost never angry. Every time he talked to Lahat, he would always put on a big smile, except in certain moments.

Lahar then returned to his house to check on the 2 children he had brought with him last night. Because it was a bit rushed, the lava forgot to ask their name and origin. Lahar realized that the two children were not from this city.

When the lava entered the house, he found that the two children were no longer in the room, where they both slept last night. Lahar uses his sensors and realizes that they are both in the kitchen.

Lahar was a little surprised when he found out that the two children were washing dishes from dinner last night. Lahar also felt very touched by what they did.

One of them then realized Lahar's presence and immediately greeted him, "Good morning brother, you just woke up?"

"Morning... You don't bother washing dishes like that. Let it be brother," Lahar replied as he walked closer to them.

"No papa kok brother. This is as a thank you from us. We had nothing to pay for the food and rent. So, at least we can pay for it with our services. Even if all the matches I had were sold, it still wasn't enough to pay all the bills" replied the older boy.

"Why do you think you should pay for it? You don't have to pay. Oiya sorry before brother forgot to ask her, your name and where are you from?" said Lahar who became very claustrophobic hearing a child as small as them say such a very mature thing.

"My name is Dylan, brother, and my brother's name is Josh" replied the older son.

"Oh Dylan and Josh... Where are you guys from? I think you guys just met yesterday, so I don't think you guys are from this town?" lahar said again.

"Big brother is right, we're not actually from this town. We are from Lyn town, and only arrived in this town about 2 days ago" Dylan replied.

"Lyn Town? Where's it?" asked Lahar who did not seem to know the location of the city.

"That's a very far town, brother. It took about 3 weeks to travel in a sled, "Dylan replied again.

"It's far away too... By the way why did you guys get to this town if it was that far away?" ask Lahar again.

"We were taken with an adult whose hair was blond, he was fat, his clothes were shimmering, and he was wearing glasses with one sis" Dylan replied.

Hearing the answer from Dylan, Lahar could immediately realize that the one who brought them here was a noble. It seemed like the noble wanted to utilize the power of these 2 little ones for their own benefit. Or perhaps, the noble was intending to sell these 2 little children. Now, this further adds to the hatred of Lahar to the nobles.

In his mind right now there was nothing good that the nobles had. On the contrary, they always bring suffering to the lower classes.

In this world where Lahar lives, there is a caste that distinguishes social life. There are 4 castes, namely Nobles, Knights, Ordinary People, and the lowest and most suffering are the Commoners.

Actually Lahar strongly disagreed with the caste system that prevailed in his world. He considered that humans should not be differentiated like that. Man is the same and no man is more special than any other. Moreover, the lives of commoners were always difficult. Even if they had great talent or ability, they would definitely still be complicated. In fact, to enter the academy alone, the children of commoners were extremely difficult.
