Allah Azza Wa Jalla said :

…هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ…

"…They (wives) are clothes for you (husbands), and you are clothes for them.(QS Al-Baqarah :187).

According to the ustad Abu Uthman Kharisman, who is also the translator and author of this book, based on the verse shows that the relationship between husband and wife is :

Very close

Clothing is attached to the body, in direct contact with the skin. Thus nearby. Husband and wife should be like that too. There is physical closeness and inner closeness.

A good husband is a happy partner for his wife. The wife did too. Close friends, so that each party easily conveys his ideas and desires.

al-hafidz Ibn Kathir rahimahullah stated:

فَلَا أُلْفَةَ بَيْنَ رُوْحَيْنِ أَعْظَمُ مِمَّا بَيْنَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ

There is no unity (approximity) between two spirits that is greater than between husband and wife (Tafsir al-Quranil Adzhim by Ibn Kathir, when interpreting the letter al-A’raaf verse 189)

Need each other

Just as humans need clothes. Husband needs his wife. The wife did too.

Shaykh Muhammad bin Sholih al-Utsaimin rahimullah stated:

لِأَنَّ الزَّوْجَ لَا يَسْتَغْنِي عَنْ زَوْجِهِ فَهُوَ لَهَا بِمَنْزِلَةِ اللِّبَاسِ

Because the husband needs his wife, as the clothes (which are needed)(Tafsir al-Baqoroh libni Utsaimin)

Allah Ta’ala will not look with a view of grace to a woman who is not grateful to her husband, when he needs it.

لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَى امْرَأَةٍ لَا تَشْكَرُ لِزَوْجِهَا، وَهِيَ لَا تَسْتَغْنِي عَنْهُ

"God does not look to a woman who is not grateful to her husband, in a state that she still needs him" (H.R an-Nasaai, al-Hakim of Abdullah bin Amr, dishahihkan adz-Dzahabiy and al-Albani)
