Chapter 3: Jia Xiu, The Assistant to the Shu Family

Living in an indeterminate direction for almost a year, he had explored these three parts of Nanping City, he volunteered to the people authorized in the parking area to work. The wages he got were simply enough to meet his eating needs. He should have gotten more than that, but he couldn't do anything about it. Once he protested with the wages he got, as a result of which he was gang-raped. The power of two hands will not be able to match dozens of people's hands.

Unfair treatment has often been found, treated arbitrarily by people who feel themselves in power too often he experienced. Injustice is no stranger to him. He has been very concerned about the behavior of people who feel most powerful towards others.

Until one day, he who was then in charge of parking at one of the shopping centers was visited by a man in his fifty years. The man politely asked her to come to his car. He himself was unable to refuse the invitation, as if hypnotized following the man under the astonished gazes of the members of the local underground ruling society.

Arriving in the luxury car, the man gestured to his driver behind the wheel to run the car.

After that, he opened the conversation. "Young man, I see you are too young to be struggling in this underground world. You mustn't waste your youth gathering with these people."

Cia Yonggan didn't know what to answer. He himself did this work to save his life, if he did not work, then it is certain that he would die in this city.

"Who's your name?" ask the man.

"My name is Cia Yonggan, Uncle," replied Cia Yonggan nervously.

He had never dared to dream of being able to climb into a luxury car before.

The man then continued. "Your future is long. Why don't you go to school at such a young age?"

"Uncle, I'll raise money and resume my education. Uncle take it easy," he replied.

At this moment back the man asked like fishing. "Where are your parents? Do they know about this?"

Cia Yonggan looked at the man beside him, then looked down. "Uncle, I'm from Qianshan on the slopes of Mangdang Mountain. Both my parents died last year, now I live alone in this city. If I don't work like this, how am I supposed to get on with life?"

The man was muttered to hear Cia Yonggan's explanation, his gaze penetrating far out the car's glass window, like he was thinking. While the car still drove slowly splitting the streets of the city.

In Cia Yonggan's heart wondered whether there was any meaning to this man towards him, to ask him directly he also did not dare, then he just waited for the man to speak again.

Right now the man reached into his luxurious suit pocket, took out a business card then thrust it to Cia Yonggan while saying. "Cia Yonggan, this is my business card. After this you meet someone named Hao Zhao at the King Palace Hotel, tell him I sent you. Ask him for a job. After that you go back to university, continue your education. Working while in college shouldn't be so hard. Do you understand?"

He read the business card, from which he knew the man named Jia Xiu, was an assistant to the Shu family. He knows that the Shu family is the richest in mainland China, because he is not the second generation of a rich family, so he is not surprised to read the name on the business card. A natural attitude that Jia Xiu longed for.

All this time, wherever Jia Xiu went, everyone who knew of his background as an assistant to the Shu family, would behave like a sycophant dog before him, trying to flatter with sky-high words to him. He himself was already tired of the attitude of those sycophants. If he wasn't a confidant of the great lord Shu, would they have acted that way? And this natural attitude displayed by Cia Yonggan was one that he had longed for over the years.

Before long, the luxurious car had already arrived in front of the King Palace Hotel. The driver got down and opened the door for Cia Yonggan, letting him down.

Before descending, Cia Yonggan thanked Jia Xiu. "Uncle, thank you for your goodwill today. Later, I will try to be a better person."

"No need to hesitate, Cia Yonggan. Just prove yourself to be better and not to waste your youth for granted" Jia Xiu replied. Then he chimed in. "Oh yeah, in five years I'll be back looking for you. At that time I didn't want to see you still hanging out with those kind of people. See you, Cia Yonggan."

Cia Yonggan got out of the car, standing staring at the car's departure. After the car disappeared from his sight, he walked into the lobby of the King Palace Hotel.

While he did not know, Jia Xiu on top of the car that had just walked was directly contacting someone through his mobile phone. "Director Hao, a young man named Cia Yonggan will come to see you. Give him a proper job, and provide him with a place to live. Remember, do it accordingly, do not show a too conspicuous attitude to him. Youunderstand?"

"Alright, I understand, Assistant Jia," replied the person across the phone.

Since then, Cia Yonggan has been able to continue her education. By Hao Zhao, who was the director of the King Palace Hotel, he was given a job as a room service to clean hotel rooms and change bed sheets and deliver dishes to his room. He was able to make money from the results of his hard work while in college, even he could set aside his salary every month to save because he did not have to spend money to rent a place to live, Hao Zhao had already prepared for him a simple house for him to live in. Not only that, though, every month he always took the time to go back to his hometown to make a pilgrimage to the tomb of his parents and gradually rebuild the ruins of his parents' house due to the fire a year ago.

Until now, after almost half a year of completing his education, he still could not find another job. He was still room service at the King Palace Hotel, not a single company in this prefecture-level city accepted him to work. While facing Hao Zhao to help him find acquaintances and give him a decent job, he felt unwell. He emphasized in his heart, he should not have taken advantage of too much because he was a little familiar with someone named Jia Xiu who he happened to know four years ago.

It had also occurred to him to return to his hometown and revive the farmland that had only become a sleeping land since the death of his parents. Indeed, since childhood he and his father and mother always worked on their farm and Cia Yonggan loved working in and sweating under the hot sun.

For him to plant crops, care until then successfully harvest, is a satisfaction of its own. This earth is so amazing, from the soil of growing plants, if there were no plants, would humans still be able to live? What a blessing from the creator that is worthy of gratitude. That is why he chose to study to deepen the science of agriculture which is strongly supported by both parents.

But for the sake of recalling the old man's last sentence before they parted, when Jia Xiu said he would return to see him exactly five years after their separation, making Cia Yonggan undo his intention to settle back into his hometown. Jia Xiao at that time required two things to him, first to be a better person and second to stay away from the association with the underground society.

He had managed to stay away from those sadistic groups, yet to become a better person, he was still deadlocked. He could only comfort his own heart, that the time had not yet come for him to get that chance. Soon, there will be an opportunity for him.
