The Children's Story 17
Liz and her strange behavior

Along the way, several eyes stared at me blatantly. His eyes looked suspicious and threatening. Some of the women who were drying clothes looked silent, stopped, and looked at me. Then they whispered. Some girls who were sitting in groups were also staring at me. And it was only their faces that seemed to be slightly smiling towards me. Well, at least, my good looks still apply in this area. But the information about Liz, from Mr. Jhonson earlier, made me think a bit. Liz with her kids? And he's called Angel? The angel? What exactly did the girl do? Is this the key to Liz's annoying mysterious attitude? Or am I wrong?

Stalled road. I could not continue my steps because the road was dead. And when I decided to turn to the right of the road, that's when I saw a strange sight. A white girl was handing out bread to the small children who were huddled around her. With his cream-colored shirt, and his golden hair blown off in the wind, Liz looked absolutely angelic amidst the crowd of jet-black children.

“Halo Angel!” my broom. I saw the girl turn her head and was shocked when I saw her.

“You...” he said hang. Her green eyes seemed to light up looking at me, “want are you here? You're stalking me, aren't you? Or do you think I traded your diamond for a fake?”

“Do not misunderstand, Liz.”ucapku fast,”I'm not here to talk about it.”

“So...what do you really want? Spying on me? Frankly, Rick. I don't like you being here. Go.” Liz stepped up to leave me. Walk straight up to an old crate and sit on it without caring about me. I followed.

“Liz, I just want to apologize to you. That's it.”

Liz smiled sneered, “I forgive you. Now get the hell out of here.”

I swallowed spit. Don't despair, Rick! You are a man. You knight! My little heart whisper is encouraging. “Do you not want to accept my excuses?”

Liz did not answer. His face looks cold. I understand why Liz seems to hate me. He must have been offended to find out that my plan to put a diamond hanger on my tape recorder was to frame him. I meant to explain everything when two little kids came up to us.

“Angel. The bread is over. But I'm still hungry. Can I have ice cream?” ask her with a smooth and evocative voice.

“I also want ice cream, Angel.” Added friend.

Knowing his friend approached Angel, within seconds, all the children were black, curly hair and round-eyed jet black and dressed sober earlier crowded Liz again and screaming asking to buy ice cream. They are like people who take to the streets to protest their outrage. I feel foreign and pity.

“Okey, guys. Everyone can eat ice cream today.” Liz's shout calmed the children. After that I saw him open the watch wrapped around his wrist.

“Liz...what are you doing?” ask me not to understand. I mean, I don't understand what that girl just did. I know how much he's wearing. Famous branded clocks that are currently in fashion all over the world. “What...do you want to sell that watch?”

Liz quiet. He just moved towards the ice cream seller who was busy serving the wobbles of his customers who all wanted to quickly get ice cream. Feeling thought to be non-existent, I immediately blocked the girl's arm.

“Liz...Do you want to sell that watch? Just for the sake of buying ice cream? For those kids?”

Liz looked at me, “Let go of my hand, Rick.”.

“Liz, don't do that..”

“Ohya? Let them cry hungry? Is that what you want? Yeah Rick? Try to ban me. I'll sue you to court!”

I returned Liz's green eyes. Then laughing out loud to make the girl's forehead in front of me wrinkle, “You're weird. Liz. What are you suing me for? I didn't kill them one by one, did I? And again no one will be killed just for not eating ice cream.”

“Then why are you holding me back? Whatever I want with my watch.” Said Liz jerking her hand until it slipped out of my check.

“I mean, you can have them eat as much ice cream as they can afford, without selling your watch.”

“Ohya? You mean..you'll pay for it?” tanya Liz laughed sneering.

I smile.

I'm nodding.

“Could not.”

“Why? I still have diamonds, right?” reminded him.

Liz back pouting, “Huh! Strange reason.”

“But not as weird as the way you use, Liz.” Soft words.

*

Elizabeth Grey stepped quietly by my side. His body was thin and pale unkempt. His smile was also always bland and he looked weak like a powerless person. “I'm not happy, Rick.” Lamt-aim. Then the girl sighed heavily and looked forward with a dreamy gaze, “My mother died while giving birth to me. Then my father blamed me for the death of my mother. Then he busied himself with his work and his other world that was outside the house and abandoned me. The cliche! But that's how it happened. And the only person who loves me is Mrs. Blanes. Nigger woman, who my father fired a few months ago because of illness. Before long, the woman died because of late surgery. I tried to ask my father for money, but I always had trouble meeting him and I was late to take the money to the hospital. I'm angry because I don't have anyone else in the world.”

I sighed because I felt the pain of that girl. All this time, I only knew where my parents and family were. The environment around me has everything. I never thought of another world so different from mine. It would have been a waste of years of school and studying culture and history, if it turned out that my eyes had never been opened with such terrible things as Liz had shown me. Even I had wondered why Liz cared so much about people who were not racial with her.

“To help, I don't see the color of his skin, Rick. Because I know, God created us in different circumstances. There's white, brown, red, yellow and black. Like your friend Lee. She's yellow but you're friends with her.”

“You're right.” My heart was slow, trying to swallow my pride over my people who were born white and had everything.

“And one more, Rick. If you want to help them, you can't think of just feeding them for one day. Because they also want to stay longer, just like us. They need a place to live and work. And they need affection.” The girl got me cornered. I was silent for a moment, before actually seeing what I had in my conscience after hearing the reason Liz was in that place.

“Liz, I know it's not an easy job. What else for young people our age. Still unstable and need support from parents. But...” I looked at the girl and smiled, “I think I want to accompany you to find what they are looking for and want.” I'm steady, “Do you accept me even if you're just your errand boy?”

Liz looked at me with a flushed face, “Kok you speak like that, Rick? You are my best friend. You have to step beside me. Until you finally back off because of how hard it is to be in a place like this.”

“I understand, Liz. And I'm not going to back down. I'm a guy. Shame dong with you.” I joke. “But for the first time.we have to leave the way you have been. Okay?”

The girl looked at me stiffly, “Ya...which one?”.

“Being Miss Robin Hood. Stealing from the rich to be handed over to the poor. We don't have to be like that from now on. Don't let our good intentions end up in jail.”

Liz smiled shyly and lowered her head, “I'm sorry..” she said slowly, “Actually I didn't mean..”.

“Already. Importantly, from now on we will help them in a halal way.”

“Good.”

“Okey. About...what should I do to start this noble work?”

Liz immediately took my hand, “Many.” Said laughing.

I also laughed and felt relieved to have revealed the mystery that surrounded Liz all this time. I'm determined to change everything. Change the way Liz makes money, and change things for the better of now. I know this will be very difficult to do and will definitely get a lot of obstacles. All good deeds will end well. That was God's promise to his people. And I believe it, just like Liz put her trust in me.

The afternoon will be long and beautiful.
