Toxic Gases
Lela, the thin, dry, straight-haired girl by the boat was walking quietly, towards the thickets. His face was dull but had quite sharp eyesight, as he looked at the snake walking not far from him. He stopped among the vines that thrived behind the small house, which he used to rest during the escape.
He lived in the huts of workers who worked part-time in his mother's orange grove.
Suddenly the snake was silent, making the girl feel benefited because it would be easier, to eliminate the dangerous beast that could have killed her.
Not far from Lela standing, there was a man who was silent behind a big tree and watching his movements. The man even, holding his breath so as not to attract the attention of the venomous cobra, which he saw walking closer. However, due to the arrival of the girl, her attention was slightly distracted.
At that time Lexsi was lost and accidentally found a small house. He intends to ask directions if there are residents in the house. However, he meets a cobra and a girl in front of him.
Scenery that is quite rare, occurs unintentionally anyway.
Lela instantly threw a sizable stone right at the snake's neck that was now floundering.
“Because you're a snake! I already know, your fate is in my hands!” he said again, taking out a small knife from his bag. Then, cut the snake's body in half.
“Ah! It just looks like this you're dead? You are called king!" Lela spoke to herself.
After he finished he threw the dead snake's body in any direction, then put the knife back in his bag.
However, he had not yet stepped up, there was a suspicious movement from a large tree, behind which he turned his head in alarm.
During his escape Lela only lived alone, the existence of others certainly made him a little afraid.
“Damn, you!” screech Leksi, after coming out of hiding.
Just in case the girl pulled out her knife just in case a bad guy bothers her.
He saw a burly, tall man wagging a serpent that had suffocated from his body. Apparently, the snake carcass hit the man. Lela came closer with a laugh, she grabbed the snake that was already lying on the ground and threw it further away.
“Who are you? Are you scared? Why are you here?" lela asked with a peeking gaze from head to toe, but the man was silent and only cast his gaze towards Lela so sharply.
A moment of silence.
“You need not fear, the snake is already limp, so, it will not make you die!” lela said again, turning her back.
“Who are you?” ask Lela again.
The man with the full name Lexio Humaish asked, "Who, you?"
He felt so humiliated in front of the thin, dull-skinned girl before him.
“Hai! I should have asked you that, because this is my land, my territory, you know!" ask Lela while pointing at Lexsi.
"It's a forest, there's no one in charge here!"
"There! I'm proof of that." Lela said as she ruffled her waist, "This is my land and hut, around here is my orange grove! What do you got here?"
Once again, Lexsi felt even more humbled. He was actually a wealthy young master, but chose to live alone, free without the rule of his parents. From childhood he was used to being pampered and always obeyed his will.
Uh! Because he was separated from his hunting party, until he was in that place. His fate was truly unlucky to have met a woman like Lela.
“What did you say? You, brash ... do you know who I am?” lexi asked, making Lela laugh.
“What are you really? Listen ...! Whoever you are here, it doesn't matter because what matters here, who the real landowner is!”
“Nothing to do with me!”
“Terden! You are not important to me either!”
After saying so, Lela just glanced at Lexsi who stepped away, ahead of her, she wanted to know where she was headed. In order to see Lexsi moving westward, the girl followed him.
“Hai! A Stranger! Where are you actually going? Don't go in that direction if you still love life!"
“If you're going to kill yourself, please keep going, there's something dangerous if you believe me, but if you don't, you can try it!"” said Lela.
“What is it?” Lexsi seemed interested, he turned around while stepping closer to Lela.
“Society here, named the place Umbut, it—wells filled with poisonous gas that if you inhale the surrounding air then you can be sure to die in just two hours!”
Leksi furrowed his brows, still not believing, because all this time, he was the one who had to be trusted, and did not need to believe in others. Then, he ignored Lela and walked, until a few steps later, he smelled something strange.
Leksi immediately held his breath and turned around. The smell of gas was very stinging, instantly making him dizzy.
“Close your nose with this!” said Lela, suddenly already beside Leksi and covered the man's nose with a scarf cloth that he deliberately carried.
Two humans of the opposite sex were then lying limp on the ground, after running quite far from the toxic gas well area.
“Do you now trust me?” Lela asked as she adjusted her panting breath she turned to Lexi lying beside her.
Lexsi did not respond to anything, until a moment later she turned her head and opened her lips.
“There was once an oil drilling effort in this village, but it failed because it turned out that there was toxic gas out after the ground was drilled and dug by the company.” Lela told me unsolicited, making Leksi think logically, if he had heard the same story, a few years ago. In fact, after that failed drilling, another poisonous gas appeared in several locations around it, making the village finally abandoned its inhabitants.
“It's up to you to believe it or not and stay here or not! See it raining soon!”
Do I have to trust the girl because what she said was true? Lexsi's heart.
Lela stood up from a lying position, then, cleared the ground attached to her clothes by patting her hands. The girl left Lexsi who did not respond much to her words at all.
However, Lexsi follows Lela who steps back into the small house. Sure enough, shortly after they were inside, it rained heavily.
“You stay here?” lexsi asked curiously, seeing that the contents of the house were complete, although limited, all the basic necessities for life were available there.
Lela continued to light the fireplace to keep it warm and she boiled water on it, to brew two brown glasses.
“No,” said Lela while thrusting a cup of warm chocolate at Leksi, “this is my escape from prison!”
“What?” lexsi said with an astonished look, he almost trusted this girl, but he refused to believe that Lela had just come out of prison.
Lela looked up at him then, she sat down in front of Leksi and took a sip of warm chocolate casually.
“Do you now trust me?” asked Lela while raising her eyebrows. He concludes that Lexi is a very expensive person of his trust.
“Hi, Lex! You have nothing to fear, I am not a beast that can bite! Aerrggk!” Lela imitated the voice of a tiger.
“Where do you know my name?” lexsi says flat.
“I'm just guessing, I saw the initials LX in your air gun! I think your name is Luxi or Alex or Lux, yes, that's how it is!” Lela said while shrugging her shoulders.
Lexsi did carry an air rifle that crossed his back, on the handle of the rifle there was indeed his initials. Hunting was his success and just now, he saw a bird flying in the direction where he saw a snake. Then, he chose silence, because he already knew how to behave, if faced with a ferocious beast like a snake. Silence is better for an animal to think that it is not dangerous.
However, Lela came and killed the snake quickly, inevitably she had to admit that the girl had facilitated her affairs indirectly because she had to immediately find her friends before it started to get dark.
“My name is Lela,” said Lela while extending her hand, “Lela Leana, just call Lela!”
He took the initiative to introduce himself because it would be better to know each other, let alone they are now caught in the rain somehow until when.
Lexsi welcomed the girl's helping hand while thinking about her seemingly familiar name.
Is he really a recidivist? His inner.
