Kina and Dayuti continued to rush through the forest, the rain had stopped, leaving mud everywhere.
“You sure we didn't get lost?” Kina said with quivering lips, she hugged her own body, limping along with Dayuti who was not much different from her.
“I'm sure.” Dayuti said briefly, not looking back, they passed by large trees and tall grass, sometimes their feet sank in the mud.
They walked until their clothes almost dried up, from the height of the grass, the swamp began to look.
“We arrived,” said Dayuti with relief, he saw Kina behind him. “Now what?”
Kina gulped her saliva, she watched the surroundings, the puddle of brownish-black water slapped in front of them, the trees with roots sticking up growing at every corner, the water plants growing and floating on the water.
“Kita ... should find Eda where?" Dayuti asked confusedly, the sound of frogs and grasshoppers was earthy with boisterous, cold wind blew shaking the leaves, causing the sound of friction of leaves and twigs that sounded broken.
Kina looked at the ground, there was a grass that did not grow and formed a thin path behind the dead and transverse tree trunk, she stepped without saying anything.
Dayuti behind him was stunned, he looked around them, in front of Kina there was only a large tree whose leaves touched each other, making the sunlight unable to enter.
They stepped without a sound, Dayuti with nervousness, while Kina with her self-confidence that came out of nowhere. The more they enter, the more their view is limited, the occasional sunlight enters as a result of the leaves swaying due to the wind.
“BUKH!” Kina stopped suddenly, the unawares Dayuti accidentally bumped into her, she shrieked softly, holding her nose which was throbbing pain.
“What's up?”
Kina placed her index finger on her lips, she pulled Dayuti into hiding behind a tree, pointed forward, there was a wooden house half of which was surrounded by tree roots, and she was looking at the tree, showing as if the house was being eaten by the big tree, the doors and windows that were shining between the roots of the tree were tightly closed.
Dayuti widened his eyes, he never knew if there was a house in the middle of a dark forest like this. Under the roots of the trees wrapped around each other there was a tray containing sajen and a burning incense.
“There are people?” Dayuti muttered, he looked at Kina who seemed to be sneaking closer, he gulped, inevitably following every step of his friend.
The scent of incense spread across the forest, Dayuti and Kina approached, peering at the window, they found nothing but darkness. Dayuti glanced at the sajen on the rattan tray, his blood rustling, he goosebumps suddenly.
Kina looked at the candle stuck on the wall and a box of matches, slowly she picked it up, opening the door.
Her heart pounded hard, Kina held her breath, the wooden door was rotten, making a noise that made the teeth feel pain, she pushed it slowly until the door was wide open. What they found was the ground floor and darkness, Kina pulled Dayuti in and lit a candle.
The light of the candle swayed, he raised it high, there was a room and wall blocked and a door, Kina was sneaking around, her eyes were looking on alert, she faintly heard the roar of someone's breath behind the wall.
“Eda?” Kina let out a soft voice, she knocked on the door, there was no reply, only a muffled breath sounding.
Kina saw that the door was padlocked, she told Dayuti to hold the candle, while she herself took the stone to break the lock.
Dayuti just bit her lips to notice Kina's movements, her face hopefully anxious. After several collisions of the door opened, Dayuti hurriedly pointed the candle inside.
“No way,” exclaimed Kina with a stifled voice, Dayuti sculpting with wide eyes.
“Eda?!”
They saw Eda in chains on a pole in the middle of the room, the man curled up on the floor, his mouth gagged with cloth, the man looked up, his red eyes staring at Kina.
Eda sat down and thrashed, Kina quickly approached and took off Eda's mouthful, the man leaned back and opened his mouth with roaring breaths.
“Who did this?!” kina hunts Eda down with questions, the man tries to catch his dashed breath, Dayuti holds a chain tied around Eda's neck, the chain is connected to a pole behind Eda.
“Kin ... run ... you have to run ...” Eda said with great difficulty, Kina looked at Eda for a bit before picking up the stone she used to pound the padlock.
Eda's hand clasped Kina's arm, her friend ignoring her. “You must run, he ... will kill .. mu.”
Kina pounded the chain with difficulty, she did not answer the words of Eda, the condition of her friend was unstable, maybe now half-conscious and continue to rumble, Dayuti immediately propped up Eda's body, afraid that his friend would collapse to the ground.
The sound of a rock meeting with a chain rang, gemrincing. Kina's sweat fell down followed by her heart beating, they both tried to stay calm, even if it was in vain, Kina's hands still trembling all the time.
Eda tried to calm his breathing, he closed his eyes, his eyes were fixed on Kina, under the candlelight that Dayuti had placed on the table, his eyes saw that black shadow was already surrounding Kina.
“I won't run without you,” said Kina when the chain was cut off perfectly, she untied the chain around Eda's neck, quickly helped her stand up. “You can tell a story when we're away from here.”
Dayuti and Kina beat Eda, they hurriedly came out of the house, trying to find a temporary hiding.
Behind the dense bamboo tree, they hid, Kina sat Eda there, the man looking pale. However, it looks better after being given a drink by Dayuti.
“Ni Lewun the culprit, he who adheres to black magic, all this time he scapegoated Granny Niba. Nukas, my father and the other victims are the victims so that Ni Lewun is immortal.” Eda revealed what he heard when he was held captive, Kina sat down and fell silent stiff, her tears could not be stopped fell.
“How can he do that? He's a healer.” Dayuti said with horror, he nodded stiffly. “That explains why she looks healthy different from Grandma Niba.”
Kina looked down, she recalled the death of Grandma Niba, she also remembered who was holding Nukas when she entered the house, her mind was raging.
“ Anyway, you should run immediately.” Eda stared fixedly at Kina, he gulped. “The person to be billed by Ni Lewun is the descendant of the founder of the village. You and I, we will soon be a collision until the seventh death.”
“What? Me?” Kina pointed to herself, she had heard that her mother had told her that Ni Lewun was a cousin of her grandmother when she first came to Damung village.
“Seventh death?” Dayuti shuddered in horror, his face grew pale, in his heart he counted four tragic deaths in this village, that means there are still three more people who will die?
“I don't have family anymore, just me.” Eda took a deep breath. He looked at Kina. “Nukas, Mr. Mursa, Narsih is a descendant of Grandma Niba. They're dead already. ”
Kina felt her blood flow stop, her mother's words about Ni Lewun reverberated in her mind, like a broken cassette.
“It means.. me, my father and mother ... Ms. Mursa ...."
Dayuti closed her mouth, she looked at Eda and Kina alternately.
“There is still Arna. He's your distant cousin,” Eda told Kina. The girl rubbed her face, her head suddenly dizzy.
His mother, he was worried about his mother.
“We have to save them.” Kina looked up at Eda, the man was agitated. “Before anyone dies again, we must save them!”
