Promises

Brein stood up while looking out the window of his apartment building.

"I'm glad to see you for the first time Alice.

I'm sorry I came in late and let you suffer so far.

As I promised Auntie, from now on I will look after and protect you.

I won't let them hurt you again.."

Brein then remembered all the events that had happened to Alice during this time.

To be honest he knew it all even Brein was in the same school as Alice back then.

When Brein was a teenager, he asked his mother about Alice.

He begins to look for Alice's whereabouts, starting from where Alice is at school and also where she lives.

Due to the big name that the Dakota Family had, he had absolutely no trouble finding information about Alice.

When she finds out where Alice is attending school, she decides to move to the same school as Alice.

Brein wants to meet the little baby he met.

Especially from the information he got, Alice seemed to be treated badly by her family.

And it turned out to be true what Brein had suspected all along.

While Brein was in Junior High and Alice was in Primary School, Brein saw Alice often treated very poorly in school.

It was a break and all the students gathered in the cafeteria for lunch.

The school canteen for the SD, Junior High and High School levels is next to each other.

He frowned when he heard the commotion from the elementary school cafeteria.

Brein ran straight there.

She was afraid something bad might happen to Alice.

By the time Brein got there, he was shocked to see Alice sitting on the floor in a dirty shirt from the spillage.

Alice's friends laughed at her without any intention of helping her.

Brein knows that one of them did that to Alice.

Brein immediately opened the jacket he was wearing and then passed through the crowd.

Brein approached Alice who was seen crying with her head down.

He then put his jacket on Alice's body.

All of Alice's friends were astonished at what Brein was doing.

They whispered to each other.

"You okay?"

ask Brein to Alice.

Alice slowly raised her face, looking at Brein's face.

He then looked at the uniform used by Brein.

"I'm okay, brother.

Brother shouldn't have to help me."

Alice then tried to stand up.

Brein stood up as well.

Alice took off the jacket attached to her body and then gave it to Brein.

"Thank you, brother."

alice said and then left.

Brein was still standing in his place staring at that fragile back that was slowly starting to disappear from his sight.

Brein's eyes then catch Ell and Kate who have just arrived.

"Ell, what happened to Alice?

Are his friends bothering him again?

If they don't stop, I'll do what they did to Dad.

I can't see Alice like this.

Even though I promised Alice not to tell Dad."

"Kate, you don't have to do that."

"What do you mean Ell?

Are you willing to see Alice being treated as badly as that continues?"

"Are you not Brother Alice?

Why don't you protect her and leave her like that instead?"

brein said with a demanding tone.

"What do you mean Brein said that?

We tried to protect him.

But the girl always refused."

said Ell.

Ell and Brein are best friends at school even though they are Senior and Junior at school but they are like peers.

They are the same club.

"Although it is like that, you should be there when he needs help.

And you seem to hate Alice Ell so much.

I don't know why you could act like that to Alice.

Are Alice and Kate sisters?

Why are you treating them differently?"

"You shouldn't have to interfere with my family's problems, Brein.

ell said in a furious tone.

Ell then leaves Kate and Brein there.

"Brein, please forgive Ell's attitude.

To be honest, he did not hate Alice at all."

Kate then leaves Brein and catches up with Ell from behind.

From then on, Brein had always been watching Alice from a distance.

Even when she got home from school, Brein was always on the same bus as Alice.

He also followed Alice from behind until she entered the gate.

For years he did that.

But unfortunately, he can't keep an eye on Alice after she graduates High School.

Brein was admitted to the Overseas college and required her to leave Indonesia for a while.

His father and mother also went with him because his Grandpa and Grandma lived there as well.

Although like that, Brein always get information about Alice from her father's confidants who live in Indonesia.

During her time abroad, her mind was always focused on Alice.

He was quite relieved when he found out that Alice had got a male friend who always took care of her.

And after he found out, that man was indeed a good person.

Until the time Brein was determined to return to Indonesia after completing his studies.

Although his father had disagreed because he asked him to take over the company of their family who were there.

But he insisted and repeatedly persuaded his father.

His father finally gave up and agreed with his decision.

And to this day, the day she finally met Alice for the first time.

He deliberately lived in the same apartment with the girl in order to be close to Alice.

She also learned of Alice's marriage to Ell.

And he understood the purpose behind the wedding was to save the Dakota Family's good name.

Alice was once again the victim.

Ell must have treated Alice badly given that Ell was not married to the girl she loved, Kate.

Brein can see that since school Ell has liked Kate.

It was just that the man did not dare to express his feelings.

Brein couldn't bear to see Alice continue to get hurt.

He has the determination to bring Alice to meet her mother.
