"Let's get a divorce."
Silent
The room was silent, there was no sound other than the sound and the heartbeat seemed to stop. His ears could not believe what he was hearing.
His tears just fell, his heart was like being struck by lightning and shattered instantly. The doctor said he could not have a child.
"What do you mean Ed?" His lips trembled, his tears flowing.
This marriage is a marriage of arranged marriages. She lives in an orphanage and because Mely's grandmother likes her. He also asked his grandson to marry him, Edward Felix Winston. He loved Edward all this time. Even if the man in front of her was cold and indifferent to her.
She still loves him, respects her marriage. For one year, for one year she devoted herself to this marriage.
The man stared flatly at the woman in front of him. It's been a year of marriage but Areum hasn't been pregnant. He needs descendants to continue his family. She admitted Areum was a good girl, always obedient and took good care of her. But he could not love the woman in front of him. He didn't want to make her suffer.
"We're divorced, I don't want this marriage to go on. You know I haven't loved you all this time."
"Is it because Helena's back?" Ask Areum with a quivering tone.
Edward nodded, he better be honest. There is still a little love for Helena.
Areum retreated backwards until finally his body was unable to stand upright. He sat on the floor and cried.
Edward still looked at her with such a difficult gaze. He was silent as if Areum's cry was meaningless, but indeed Areum's cry was meaningless to him.
Areum slowly stood up, she tidied up her clothes in the closet. He moved his eyes to the room. A room that bears silent witness to her marriage for one year.
Slowly he stepped, his steps heavy. He dragged his suitcase by force. A marriage that he only lived for a lifetime. It is like broken glass. The man he loved for life and just wanted to love that man. But the truth is he can't take care of her anymore.
Laughter was heard from downstairs. The steps stop at the middle of the stairs. He saw a woman beside Edward. Her husband just stood up.
Her father-in-law and sister-in-law bought Helena and asked her to talk and joke.
His heart grew increasingly sliced, for a year he devoted himself to this family.
"Mom see, he has come," said Alika. He stared at Areum. I don't know what her grandmother saw from the woman I took in front of her. Doesn't reflect the Winston family at all.
Mommy Amber rolled her eyes, if not for her mother-in-law who wanted her to accept a daughter-in-law like Areum who was not her type at all. Poor, orphaned and dirty, it's a shame that until everyone knows that his daughter-in-law is just a poor person unlike Helena, classy, beautiful and a designer.
Helena looked pityfully at Areum. He's approaching Areum. "I'm sorry I took your position, but trust me I'll take good care of your ex-husband. I will give my love to him. You know, we've been in touch all along."
Helena held Areum's hand. "I love her, you must believe that I can take good care of her."
Areum nodded weakly, for a moment he stared at the two netra that he so longed for. She wiped away her tears, one word could not come out of her mouth. Her heart is so sliced and sick, it turns out that her husband is still in touch with his ex-lover. He was the third person in their relationship.
He walked away dragging his suitcase, carrying a million wounds from his family.
"She's gone too" said Mommy Amber, smiling happily.
