Episode 5: Mysteries at Shinozaki High School

It's been 10 minutes for me and Kaede to talk about the same thing.

"So, you're saying this creature called Kraken is after me for some good reason?" kaede.

"really. Most likely, something like that will come and come after you again." I replied as is.

"Those horrible creatures often haunt me in dreams. Normally, they wouldn't show up at a time like this. Doujima-kun, are you really going to protect me?"

Kaede looked at me with the same expression as before, asking for protection and reassurance.

"of course. What can I do for you? Besides, I haven't received the notification-I mean, I haven't been told back by-my parents," I said, a little muddled and stammered.

"Doujima-kun, you actually-"

"Call me Kaito" I said, no matter where my courage came from.

"Kaito-kun's chat.. What are you really?" asked Kaede, with some hesitation.

Hearing that question, my faint smile instantly disappeared completely.

Doggone.. Has my identity been revealed so quickly?

"I.. Of course I'm human, hahaha. Why are you asking like that?" reply clumsy.

"so yeah.. After all, you are strong" Kaede said softly, with slightly blushing cheeks.

"Oh.. That's because I practice martial arts a lot" I explained.

"Ah, so so. I get it now. Kaito-kun is the one who was sent from the sky to protect me, right?" kaede's response, in an instant, looks gleeful.

"Ah, yes.. That's it."

Not knowing what to answer, I ended up lying to him. At least, Kaede thinks I'm a little special.

"Kaito-kun's chat. What did you notice?" ask Kaede again, but with a different tone of voice.

"ah! No, it's nothing" I panicked.

Ever since coming into contact with Kaede's body, I've been acting stupidly again. That's because my body is very sensitive to the body temperature of living things.

"Sma Shinozaki's.. What else will happen?" mummify slowly.

"Hmm? Did you say something, Kaito-kun?" sahut Kaede suddenly.

"No, it's nothing" I replied, quickly trying to distract Kaede.

As it turns out, Kaede is a perceptive girl and is interested in unique things.. So what does 1 month mean? Why is this mission not complete?

"Will you accompany me then?" kaede said unexpectedly.

"In company? Where's where?" manya curious.

"To school."

"school? Shouldn't you be on holiday?" ask again.

"really.. However, there was something I was hiding in my school backyard. There was a secret door I could open with a special key. I want Kaito-kun to accompany me.. If you don't mind."

"Suspicious" I said unconsciously.

"Eh.. Whatchu mean?" reply Kaede.

"Why do you look so happy? What are you thinking, Kaito-kun?"

Uh.. Really a sensitive girl. But, if I attack him first.. No, there's no way I can afford it!

"Kaito-kun?"

"I've decided! I'll take care of you for 1 full month," I said steadily.

"Ah.. Thank you," said Kaede, after being stunned for a few seconds.

The girl even displayed her sweet smile. It feels like a dream!

As per Kaede's direction, I walked behind her and arrived at the location.

"Eh? Isn't this Shinozaki High School?" I said surprised.

"really. My school. Come on in, we can't linger in this place" Kaede asked.

That means there's something in this place.. Didn't Kaede realize it? It's hazardous.. I should have come alone to this place.

"I'm sorry if I'm confusing you. It's all because of this box."

Not even a moment to speak to Kaede, the girl turned around and pulled something out from the bottom of a large tree.

"This what?" I asked, immediately looking at a mysterious box he was holding.

"This thing is called a pandora's box. Same with you, this thing is magical" replied Kaede.

"Pandora's box..? How could something like this be in your hands?"

After I thought about it, I didn't know anything about Kaede. I'm just always carried away by the admiration and desire to make it mine.

"Surprisingly, if I stay away for too long from this box, that kind of creature will appear. So, once a month I have to come here and put flowers on it. I guess, this box has something in common with Kaito-kun."

What..? I didn't hear wrong? He likens me to a box.. However, I wouldn't mind at all, if Kaede wanted to stay close to me.

Looking around, it seemed like Kaede was appreciative and kept the box well. The object that was as big as my palm was placed 1 meter deep under the ground covered by layers of wood and green grass. The girl can directly pull it out with the associated rope and it is hidden near the tree.

"I thought you were going to take out something like a time capsule. Isn't that popular enough?" I said frankly.

"Hmm, maybe. However, it's much more special than a time capsule" Kaede said.

"really? That's why you keep it. You're an interesting girl" I said.

I just said as I thought, but Kaede's face suddenly blushed.

"Thank you." he said slowly, avoiding a direct eye with me.

Having only briefly enjoyed a thrilling moment with Kaede, suddenly the small box shook and gave off an unusual aura.

"Stay away, Kaede!" I cried spontaneously, in an instant hit the object fell from Kaede's hand.

"Kaito-kun, what are you doing? This thing-"

And it turned out, something that felt dangerous was indeed gushing out of the box slowly. Even if it seems like only Kuro Neko like me is capable of feeling it, I will ensure the safety of Kaede!

Something with an irregular shape and purplish color seemed to be about to seep out completely from the box.

"This box is dangerous. From now on, don't come to this school alone again. I'll figure out a way to keep an eye on you. Somehow you find and even hide things like this. You better explain everything honestly to me" I said seriously to Kaede.

"Kaito-kun's chat.. Actually.."

Not yet able to confess, Kaede suddenly screamed loudly and lost consciousness.

"Kaede!"

Instantly grabbing onto Kaede's body, I noticed that the purplish aura had crept on her feet.

Quickly, I grabbed Kaede's body and jumped. Then, something white like paper began to be seen on the ground.

A large inscription appeared on the paper, accompanied by a purple flower located on it.

"Twelve?"

The paper was just a number that I didn't understand. What the hell has happened?

At that moment, I realized something more terrifying than anything to me. Kaede did not breathe at all!
