Aditya's POV
The mother's figure so strongly influences the formation of her childhood attitude, the, Satria and my close friend, the first Indonesian president, told me that many times but everything they said was quite contrary to what I saw because my mother always treated me badly.
"...I have nothing in this world but my mother, I cling to her because she is the only source of my heart's contentment release" said my close friend, his words touched the heart of anyone, even me, who had no purpose but to fight.
As a child living in a small town like Blitar, her only entertainment was her mother's fairy tale of her ancestral heroism against Dutch colonialism, Satria is the same but she prefers her mother because being too gentle can even be used as a source of encouragement for herself.
"Mother always tells stories of heroism. When my mother started telling me, I sat down by her feet and thirsty to gulp down interesting stories about freedom fighters in our family" he said, Satria and my close friends always say the same thing to me.
I also wanted to feel that, a story that a mother always told but my mother didn't really know it and my own father never came home, only Satria and my close friends wanted to tell me a story of heroism that happened a long time ago, they were really precious friends to me.
Satria and I got so much science from our great friend's father, so great, his father was a strict teacher who taught us to read and write tirelessly for hours. We continue to memorize what was mentioned by him, his services as a teacher are great until we always come to learn.
No less interesting is the way my close friend reflects on who he is as a noble boy who is called to lead his people, including Satria who was appointed as a general who led the entire Indonesian army to invite them to the peak of victory.
"My mother, she comes from a noble lineage. The father of the descendants of the Sultan of Kediri. is a coincidence or a destiny for me that I was born in a ruling class environment. I inherited it," said my friend.
For some reason Satria and I never get tired of hearing it, he gives a lot of inspiration for both of us. They are the light of life for me, I want to be able to fight and be a great and meaningful man like them even though I do not have proper parents.
As usual today ended with the cover of the sunset, Satria and my close friends immediately left me who could only stand upright in the middle of the field and a bitter smile that had been installed.
Satria could realize my lonely self, she had seen it even my close friend told her to come and encourage me who did not want to go home and meet my parents. Satria started hitting my right shoulder, trying to encourage myself as usual.
"Oi, Aditya, why stay here? Don't want to go home, huh...? As usual, we will spend time together by making pointed bamboo!" Said Satria, trying to encourage myself and I could only nod and follow her who took two long bamboos.
He began to cut the upper bamboo to create a great weapon that was used by all the fighters when fighting the invaders, I also did not expect him to keep a knife in his pocket, maybe just in case when you see someone evil.
"Do you know, Aditya? All fighters use this weapon as a means of defense, a weapon that is lethal enough that even one stab is already capable of killing the enemy" Satria said, he continued to cut the bamboo neatly in order to get a pointy bamboo that looked cool.
"There are many stories that we must write, to simply be remembered, or to be torn and forgotten. We were born in this world to do our best to keep fighting..."
"The struggle gets heavier when we start to complain and start comparing it to other people's lighter burdens" Satria kept saying meaningful words until I continued to deepen them one-on-one, he was a great friend and accepted me.
Our childhood was great enough and full of courage to be able to use this pointed bamboo as a game to strengthen our courage later, we also as children who are 6 years old must have high courage to plunge into battle and fight.
We always play at night, killing some wild animals with spiky bamboo even Satria who keeps teaching me how to be a great warrior. The point is I learned a lot of important lessons from Satria and my close friend.
"Adithya."
"Didn't you want to go home? You've always challenged your parents, you can get much worse injuries..."
"It's okay.I want to stay in this forest, if you want to go home then I won't forbid it. I felt safe in this place, all the negative feelings they gave me seemed to just disappear."
I said that with a flat expression, Satria and my close friend seemed to notice a change about me that rarely smiled to show feelings, she said, everything I felt about that positive feeling had already turned into a negative feeling because of my Dad and Mom.
They wanted me to be a very great warrior who could even defeat all the invaders who tried to attack, he said, everything they wanted contained a sense of force in it even I could not follow what they wanted because once, I was just a man who lived in a small family.
Up until now I only wanted a quiet and peaceful life but my parents forced me to train my body and mind to be able to plunge straight into the battlefield, My father was really crazy and serious about this until I was given training and torture lessons that run for hours and even a day.
When I failed and couldn't do it, they would give me a punishment so harsh as to hit my body, until now this body was filled with scars from my parents but I couldn't cry because since I was a child, I was treated like that.
No one can help even the whole children consider myself a useless poor man, a man who would die in battle easily for not having any talent or anything that stood out within him. Only Satria and my close friends accept me for who I am.
"Aditya? You hear?"
"Ah... I'm sorry, I seemed to be daydreaming for a while..."
"Once again you think of something no-no, you should think of something that can make your heart feel radiant. Such an example is the great zeal to defeat all the invaders..."
"I'm trying to. It's just, I definitely can't be at this point without you guys being friends with me." I said slowly while staring at the spiky bamboo filled with blood as it had pierced through some wild animals that were so big.
"Not really, you brought yourself to that point, I'm just here to help you grow. To be remembered as a hero is great..."
"There has never been a good war or a bad peace, Aditya, it was he who led me to the right answer."
"Whatever happens, stay alive because all this is an example.the life we have is quite valuable, we can see a world that is so beautiful even though war is happening everywhere. Tomorrow is a new day, today can be made into such a beautiful memory..."
The words of Satria always have a lot of food and meaning, my eyes open when I hear him who initially always said something that I cannot understand but now I can know what he is trying to convey. Not only that, but he was the reason why I wanted to be a warrior who could end the war.
"Midnight seems to have entered a new day, the words I said before can be made into memories. Now, let's go to sleep. Fighters also need rest but safely." Satria began to lie on the ground and enveloped his body with leaves and twigs.
"Sleeping like this will not be a single person or animal that can detect us, the smell we have is even mixed with the soil and leaves of this smell." Satria chuckles.
"You have a point, too, thank you for accompanying me..."
"...Satria."
