PARLORS DIE

PARLORS DIE
MAKE PLANS

"Yayan, wake up yan. We're all at breakfast."

I opened my eyes after hearing that. The morning I remember was the dim light around me, but now it was brighter today, evidenced by the different morning light coming in from the window. This light feels warmer, indicating that the sky today feels brighter.

Simply put, I'm bad luck. Buset...

I feel more tired today, maybe because I think too much about yesterday's events. I got up and started to stand up, then walked towards the bathroom and washed my face. I rubbed my wet face, looking ahead at the reflection from the mirror.

The face of a living creature named Yayan, looks more lethargic than usual. I wiped my face with the cloth, intending also to remove this lethargic face. But still, it is still visible.

After feeling fresher due to the coldness of the water, I walked towards the long table in the dining room, where I ate together. A plate of rice and chicken and vegetable side dishes are available.

What is this vegetable?

I sat down and ate alone here. The atmosphere felt calmer and quieter, where were the sisters? Reza's? Sindi?

Maybe Reza's still in the room. Sindi and the sisters, I don't know where they are.

I heard footsteps approaching, and I looked at them. Sindi...The one who just came from the kitchen probably just washed the cutlery.

"Tumben you are Yan's misfortune," he said in surprise.

"Ah... It's because I'm just exhausted" I replied flatly. Seriously, the sleepiness relapsed.

"Said Reza you were hard to build, so we cooked and had breakfast first."

"Oh... Hhm..." I nodded in understanding.

"Reza and what sisters?" tanyakanya.

"Reza may...Still in our room. Sisters don't know where."

"How do we tell our sisters about this home?" tanyakanya.

The way...?

Is it better to just quibble?

"We lie to them, we find an excuse to lure them to come with us to get out of this house" I replied.

Sindi just fell silent, I don't know what her expression was like, because it was behind me. I just stared and devoured my nearly finished food.

"That could be too...I guess." he said slowly like he thought.

It's a little strange to hear that, he's kind of unsure about this. I sensed that Sindi was hesitant with my answer, therefore I had to clarify.

"Yes, I think it's the best. If we just tell them the truth, they'll be shocked and scared, it'll only make it harder for them to move away from this place."

"Hm... Yes, too."

I realized that my food was over. Then I took a glass that was filled with water and drank it.

I stood up and walked to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Sindi walked beside me and pointed at the cutlery I was carrying.

"Let me wash it" he said, smiling softly.

"Huh-huh? Ee...Nih." I said while thrusting a plate on top of which there is a glass and a spoon.

He picked it up and directly walked to a place similar to a special sink to wash dishes.

What's wrong with this guy? A trance?

While I was thinking about what was going through his mind so that he would wash my cutlery, I leaned against the nearby wall to wait for him.

Not long after that he finished, and then he approached me. He opened his mouth and wanted to say something

"Let's talk about the escape plan with Reza."

~|~|~

I walked in tandem with Sindi, but the distance between me and her was one step apart. I just followed him from behind, walking towards the middle room. I saw Reza who also saw the two of us.

He pointed the hallway to Mother's room.

"We discuss the plan inside" he said slowly, then he walked while staring at the paper he was holding.

Sindi and I followed him from behind, passed through the hallway and opened the door. After entering, we left the door open just in case.

"We discussed the plan immediately." Reza handed the paper to Sindi.

"What's the plan?" ask me in wonder.

"We will use the chairs in the dining room" Reza said.

"We're gonna stack it?" sindi asked who saw the paper.

"More or less like that" he answered.

"Then let's try it now" I asked

~|~|~

We took the chairs to the back yard. Then we arranged these chairs stacked together to form an upward triangle, making them worthy of climbing.

"Finally done," said Sindi with a gasp of breath.

"Yes, that's right... Back and forth carrying this chair was tiring," complained Reza, then walked towards the house, "I get you some water to drink first."

I'm not too tired of this, but I'm tired of the curiosity that's been gnawing at my mind from now on, about what's around-behind the fence. Because, all I've ever seen out there, is just a straight, empty dirt road and a forest beside it.

"Now we need rope and wood," muttered Sindi thinking.

Rope and wood? Is that what you need from the paper? I haven't been able to read it...

"What's that for?" I stared up at the fence.

"...to get off."

Likely from what I saw, these chairs were stacked up to 2 meters tall. I climbed up the chairs carefully one by one. Sindi just looked at me with surprise at what I was doing.

"Yan, wait for Reza first yan." he said.

I was at the top of these chairs. The height of this wall fence is parallel to my neck, and it was helped by a pile of these chairs. I saw a thick tree in front of me, Then I felt a strong wind coming down on my face, surprised by the wind, I ducked behind this fence and saw Sindi below. My body immediately shook automatically and made the chairs below me vibrate.

"L-Loh, lo-loh. loh... uh, uh."

"Be careful yan!" exclamation Sindi.

I grabbed the wall in front of me, and climbed it, then I held it tight and occupied the top of the thick wall.

My left foot is outside the fence, while my right foot is inside the fence, both of my hands are in front holding this fence. My current position, is similar to that of a person riding a motorcycle.

Buset... His height... All my life I have never been in a place this high.

The chairs shook and fell almost on Sindi. Sindi can avoid it by retreating backwards. The chairs that were at the highest part of it, crashed and fell apart down there.

How I got off...

Reza came from inside the house running with two glasses of drinking water.

"Loh, why is this? Which yayan?" reza asked in surprise and panic.

Sindi pointed up, towards me.

"Well, what the hell are you?" reza was surprised.

"I climbed up these chairs...But instead sway and fall," I said hoarsely.

"Oh my goodness, Yayan." - complained Reza.

"Please me..."

"Duh, how? The chairs are partly destroyed."

Sindi looked around, and was glued to the clothesline.

"Oh yes, use the clothesline," cried Sindi remembered the rope and immediately ran away leaving us both.

"What does he want to do with the clothesline.." I muttered.

Me and Reza just stared at Sindi. The clothesline got off him, then he ran towards Reza.

As if aware of something, Reza took a wooden fracture and installed it at each end of the rope.

"Wear this rope yan, it seems to work," said Sindi sure.

"But how?" many complaining.

"Let's throw one end of this rope into a tree branch until it gets stuck. Keep you gliding holding the rope down, "he replied.

Sindi then throws the rope at me. I caught him with one hand. The rope has been modified, both ends of the rope are tied to the broken wooden chair earlier.

My gaze also looked for the tree nearest-beyond the fence to be able to hook this rope.

When I found the right tree, I immediately threw a broken wood that had been tied to the rope. The wood also floated on the rope followed towards the branch of the tree that I targeted. The wood and the end of the rope that I threw earlier, swirled around the branch, then locked.

It worked!

If I go down this fence, I can't go back in. Because, the rope is hanging on a tree that is not close to the fence. All I can do right now is slump the rope back into the backyard.

I dropped the other end of the rope down the back yard. I went down a little to hang myself. Then I stepped on the wall to walk backwards down, holding firmly on to the rope that might break this.

I've now reached the bottom, stepped on the cement floor beneath me. I saw Reza and Sindi heading towards me.

"Then we can climb up this rope" said Reza, who looked up at the rope.

"But why don't you try to get out?" continued.

"The distance between the branches of the tree and this fence is a little far. We can't climb the rope to get back in here, because of the range. If we want to get out, we can only swing once with that rope" I said.

"Meaning, we can only run away once, and if it comes out, we can not go up and go back in" said Sindi.

"Yes." Yeah."

This dangling rope we can climb back. However, if we managed to swing out, we could not re-enter even by climbing the rope and the tree. So, there is only one trial with this rope—

"One person was on the fence to wait and guard, another person climbed up and swung outside. Who had made it out, threw back the end of the dangling rope to the person waiting over the fence. Then the guy on the fence dropped the rope back inside, this yard," I said slowly staring at the rope.

After I said that, someone ran towards us, making the three of us surprised, he was our younger brother, Kevin. He stopped and stared at the ropes of astonishment.

"What are you doing?" asked Kevin who was still staring at the rope above the fence.

We just fell silent in confusion. Something that looks strange, like this dangling rope, will of course leave others amazed. I scratch my cheeks that don't itch.

"Ah...Ye...Why running?" ask me back, to avoid hers.

He nodded and looked at me nervous and nervous.

"I'm looking for you, there are two unknown people coming here. The strange man who yesterday brought Mother...And one woman."

"Huh?"

"Huh..?"

I gasped for saliva, puzzled and stared at Reza and Sindi alternately. Their expressions are the same as mine. I felt something more complicated and tense.

Why should the man come now.

Reza walked along with Sindi, Kevin and me. We walked a little fast. The closer it gets, the more thrilling it feels. The suffocating atmosphere began to feel on my neck. I who was about to gulp again, felt heavier and stuffy.

After almost reaching the living room, I saw my three sisters; Willy, Nia, and Deva. The steps of the three of us came to a halt, looking at the woman who was smiling widely approaching the sisters. They look about 27-30 years old. The woman was wearing a neat gray negligee and carrying a suitcase.

I came to my senses and saw the smiling Mr, dressed in his usual suit and a fedora hat that darkened his forehead and eyes.

"Good afternoon before the afternoon children, your mother is on a sudden vacation like it," said the woman smiling softly fake.

We're just frozen. My mind is empty.

"So, for all this time, Auntie will take care of you," said the woman with a big smile.
