On An Island

On An Island
Whose son?

Cresen, who was lying in a hospital bed, looked confused and gave the woman an answer. "You're not my mama."

"Darling.it's mama, son.... Why did you forget. Wait for... Mama has something that will make you remember your mother" said the woman.

Slowly he lifted a book. Cresen did not know where the book came from. He looked at the book with a blank look.

"Look. This is your diary. Read it so you can remember your mom!" persuade the woman to pat the cover of the book slowly.

Cresen scrunched up his body and read the cover of the book.

*Genius' son My name is Aji. Works: Tompealla Kriweall*

"This woman is trying to trick me, right? Does he think I never went to school? So that I can't read. I can even read a lot of languages."

"Take it, and read it." The woman handed the book. Cresen seemed to be silent.

Cresen accepted the book by force. Then read the contents, to obey the woman's words. But he was more confused by the book.

"This is not a diary. Auntie don't fool me, 'cause I recognize my mama's face."

Cresen immediately moved down from the bed. And a man in a white uniform came in. Then the woman stood in front of Cresen. As if to protect Cresen.

"Don't come any closer!" yelled the woman.

"Mrs, relax. I just want to check on the patient's condition."

"Don't pretend to lie to me. Fucking crook. You killed my husband. And now you want to kill my son too! I won't let it!" The woman shouted and picked up the book, then beat up the man in white uniform.

The man silently did not resist, and only protected his face with an arm. His eyes were on Cresen. Then he backed off and left the room. The woman immediately locked the door. And push Cresen into a corner.

"Hide quickly before that person takes something important away from you!" the message.

Cresen did not understand what was happening. He crouched down as the woman pulled him under the bed.

"Shut up here, we'll be out when the time comes. And we'll be home soon" said the woman again.

When he said that, he took a deep breath. Then release it slowly. Squeeze his eyes and raise his left ear. Slowly he reached the doorway and peeked out from the sidelines.

He quickly returned to Cresen's position. And stand on the side of the bed. Take the blanket and pull Cresen's hand, to get out from under the undercarriage.

"Wear this, so they don't recognize you. We need to get out of here, before they take your eyeballs, and throw your feet away, like everyone else."

Cresen was shocked to hear the woman's words. He hesitantly put on the blanket.

"Cover your face!"

"If I cover everything, how can I see?"

"Mama will lead you! Listen to my mom, yeah! Youunderstand?"

Cresen. But the woman did not see Cresen's head, because she was focusing on lurking from the door.

"Let's go!" he said he opened the door and pulled Cresen's hand together.

The woman immediately removed Cresen's blanket and examined his wound.

"I'm fine" replied Cresen. Then the woman covered Cresen's head. And lead him outside.

A man in white uniform saw them. The woman immediately turned and faced the wall. The man continued his conversation for a moment and left.

Seeing the man in white uniform leave, he continued his plan and pulled Cresen's hand. Leaving that place. Every time he saw the men in white uniforms, he would stop and turn his face against the wall. Until those guys leave.

Eventually, they both left the building. And the blanket cover of Cresen was opened. They were in a place that looked like a garden. With a step of tiptoes he pulled Cresen's hand. Then hide behind the densely leafy plants.

"You see that guy?" she asked, pointing to someone in a wheelchair.

"Today I saw he still had two legs. Today both of his legs are gone. Look at his face so sad. He must have suffered a lot. Do you want to be like that too?" continued. Cresen shook his head in fear.

"Look at the woman, her eyes were bandaged. His eyes must have been taken. Do you want to be like that?" Again the woman asked.

Cresen shook his head again and closed his eyes with a palm. But his red bead could clearly see the situation in the courtyard of the building. And the woman kept talking about the people who were in the place.

Then he patted his body. "God. Your diary is missing!" his screeches.

"Wait here. And don't come out. If you go out and get caught. They'll take your skin off, too. Like that guy. The skin must have been taken and now he can only resign himself to a wheelchair" he said.

The woman came out and locked the door from the outside. Cresen knitted his brows. Then speechless. And through the window-glass covered with curtains he saw the woman sneaking towards the building where the book was left.

Cresen watched carefully. Until the woman disappeared from his sight. And he began to turn his attention to the atmosphere in the house.

The room was like a regular living room. And there's a picture of the woman with her husband at the table with a little baby in her arms. Cresen then went through the place and he saw a door.

He held the doorknob and pressed it down. The room was not locked. Cresen was curious about the contents. Then decided to look. When he opened the room, he was shocked.

"What are you doing? Are you a spy? What are you looking for?" ask someone.

From his voice Cresen could guess that the person behind him was a man. And Cresen was terrified. The voice was similar to the voice of the man who was beaten by the woman who owned the place.

But then Cresen ventured and turned away. "I-I don't-I don't steal. Ma-m-make what I stole in my own mother's house," replied Cresen in a trembling tone of voice.

The man in front of him squinted his eyes. Then he approached Cresen, sticking his hand towards the boy's neck. And clutching his shirt collar.

"Try saying it again!" tell it.

"I, don't steal! This is my mother's house!" cresen said it was quieter this time.

"How much are you getting paid? Who sent you? If you want to... I'll pay you double."

"Whatchu mean? Pay what? Fold what?" cresen asked confusedly and frowned.

"Say, who told you to pretend to be that woman's son? And how much money have you received?" the man whispered in Cresen's ear.

*...!

A punch landed sweetly on the man's head.
