Larasati was in the bamboo forest looking for medicinal plants. He unintentionally heard the conversation of the two Maneh Village youths who were passing by.
“Juragan Jarwo chili produce is very abundant this time. But he doesn't want to add to our wages a little more. My mother was sick and Juragan lent her money but used flowers. Why is it, the rich get richer more stingy?”
“Maybe because the boss doesn't trust us yet. You know for yourself we're fifteen. For Juragan, we are still considered a boy.”
“Where do I need to borrow money for my mother to seek treatment?”
“Just go to Mr. Salam's house. He is also a nurse even though he did not plant chili.”
“Pak Greetings it will rich people invisible. His children are in the city all and have been successful so he never went to the garden. Money to eat is always sent by his children.”
“Will he lend me money?”
“Try it!”
Larasati stared at the departure of the two young men then sneered cunningly. The next night, the woman spoke again to us on the hill and then she took a handful of earth. After being blown, the land was thrown towards Pak Jarwo's chili garden.
The next day, Mr. Jarwo who was eating black rice and coffee at his grocery store was shocked by a call from Maman, the young man in charge of guarding the garden. The young man's breath went up and down and without permission immediately grabbed the glass of water located on the photographer's table.
Kening Pak Jarwo stared in wonder at his men, “J-juragan, ranch,-“ Maman has not been fluent in speaking. His breathing seemed to be congested due to running fatigue.
“What's up? Speak clearly!” snapped Mr. Jarwo.
“Cay pepper garden, Ju-juraga!”
“Maman!” call Mr. Jarwo upset.
“Come, Juragan see for yourself!” Mr. Jarwo took a motorcycle and drove to his chili garden. Maman again ran behind following Mr. Jarwo who had been away. The old man's eyes widened when he saw his garden destroyed by pests. The red chili suddenly blackened and many were rotten. Chili stems wither in the blink of an eye. Mr. Jarwo sat on the ground. He had imagined he would buy a new car this time after harvesting chili but this morning he was made not warty. His chili garden failed to harvest.
The man remembered something, he walked down the road to Mr. Rohim's garden. Pak Rohim's garden is not too big than his. How surprised Mr. Jarwo when he saw Mr. Rohim's garden is fine. The man did not accept, he immediately went to Mr. Rohim who was watching his workers who were harvesting.
“What did you do to my garden, Rohim?” jolt Mr. Jarwo emotion.
Mr. Rohim approaching, “Sorry, what did Mr. Jarwo mean?”
“Alah, put on the show all. I know you must be envious of seeing the abundant results of my garden until you damage my garden by spreading pests?” accuse Mr. Jarwo.
Mr. Jarwo lost. He saw for himself the chili of Mr. Rohim many are still green but have been picked. The man turned back. He returned to his garden thinking where did the pest come from? Why can it attack the chili?
Mr. Jarwo sat alone in the cottage while staring at the expanse of his chili garden. Unknowingly, the man to the point of tears realized that he had a crop failure. A lifetime of living this work only now he has a crop failure and the number is not half-hearted. He's a big loss.
“Why do problems always come to me, Gusti? What have I done? What because,-“ murmured Mr. Jarwo stopped when he realized if the misfortune of his life began since doing bad deeds to Larasati.
“What is the spirit of the old virgin floating near me?” Mr. Jarwo shuddered in horror and left the garden.
The next day, the man made an announcement to his workers. “Because the garden failed the harvest then I will not pay you in the least. Please understand because without the garden results then I am just a poor person.”
Those who work and expect wages from Mr. Jarwo must swallow disappointment because of the announcement. Even two teenage boys who had crossed the bamboo forest yesterday. Then, the two went to Mr. Salam's house to ask for a loan. At first they looked down in doubt but after seeing Mr. Salam who was friendly and kind, they became sure if Mr. Salam was a good person. The old man lent him money without interest but he asked the boy to help him care for his chickens and birds at home. The two boys were immediately willing let alone they were fed and pocket money.
At his house, Mr. Jarwo went on a rampage. Especially after knowing that Mr. Rohim, the owner of the chili garden next to him, got a big profit because of the skyrocketing price of chili. Mr. Rohim's current income almost rivaled his even two days after that, Mr. Jarwo heard that Mr. Rohim had bought a new car.
The people who used to work in his garden chose to go to Mr. Rohim's garden. Although the man has refused because it is not ethical to seize other people's employees but what to say. Mr. Jarwo can only wait for the soil conditions to improve again and the planting schedule that has been scheduled. The man who was sitting on the porch of his house was surprised when he saw Mr. Rohim driving a new car. Mr. Rohim pressed the horn once and nodded at Mr. Jarwo then drove back in his new car.
Mr. Jarwo ignited emotions and then came out of the house to one of the places in the village. The purpose of Mr. Jarwo this time is to damage the garden soil of Mr. Rohim so that nothing can be planted again in the garden.
“Life of the Rohim only rely on the results of his garden. If the garden is damaged, the new car will be sold again because there is no cost. I'll let Rohim be happy with his new car. After this, I make sure that Rohim will fall poor!” muttered Mr. Jarwo riding a motorcycle to the corner of the village next door.
Arriving at the old house that is not feasible, Mr. Jarwo went down and went inside without permission.
“Are you envious, Jarwo?” the old voice sounded mocking.
“Iya, Ki. Help me!”
“This!” the man who was called
“Enter into the well! All plants exposed to well water sprinkled this powder will wither and die.”
