Not Nackal, Nurul!
About the Tommy Family (revised)

Nurul looked at Tommy and then sighed.  “Of course it's not that I don't like the idea of marriage.  If only the situation was different..” said Nurul.  “How situation?” ask Tommy.

Nurul looked at his hand.  “The most desirable situation for most people to get married.  You seem to forget that I am one of those stupid virgins that you keep playing with,” Nurul said.  Nurul paused for a moment, as if afraid to say more.

“I.. I want love, Tom.  I know that you consider this stupid, but that's what I want,” replied Nurul.  Tommy is not surprised when Nurul says it, but he finds himself unable to respond as Nurul intended.

It's really scary to say that he loves Nurul.  In addition, Nurul never said a word about loving Tommy.  This fact disturbs Tommy more than he expected.  It took a few minutes before Tommy could master himself to be able to speak again.  “And you don't care if we don't get married then something will destroy you, Nurul?” said Tommy.

“Married just because want to save honor is very unreasonable.  You also know clearly that such a marriage will only lead to disaster.  About your parents.. “ said Nurul.

“My parents?  What do you know about them?” ask Tommy.  Nurul shrugged his shoulders agitatedly.  “Kak Rudi told me that they were forced to marry.  He said that they are not at all happy after living together,” said Nurul.  “Oh, he said so yes?” said Tommy was upset.

If Tommy wants Nurul to know all that, he will tell Nurul himself.  “I don't want you to think that I tried to frame you in marriage just like your mother did to your father.  I can't have a marriage that you will continue to blame me for ruining your life,” explained Nurul.

“I wouldn't do that, Nurul,” Tommy.  Nurul looked at Tommy sharply.  “But you will blame me later.  You think all women are the same, they are all the same as your mother.

An angry impulse made Tommy look at Nurul with a huff.  “Do you really think that I'm so petty that I don't trust all women just because of my mother's behavior?” said Tommy.

When Nurul just looked at him, Tommy confirmed, “Unless that night I made the accusation that you had framed me, pretending to have gotten in the car wrong so I picked you up wrong.  Can you, right?” said Tommy.

A small wrinkle was seen on Nurul's forehead.  “Yeah, you didn't do it, but.” Nurul said.  “For God's sake, Nurul. I won't even blame my mother for what happened in my parents' marriage.  So, of course I can't blame you later,” said Tommy.

“What do you mean?  Didn't you blame your mother all this time?  That's your reason why you always avoid young women who are virgins?” nurul.

Tommy shifts his seat so he can look at Nurul.  Finally, Tommy told me what was really going on in his family.

“I avoid young girls because I don't want to make the same mistakes my father did,” Tommy said.  “Nah, right?  A woman framed your father in a marriage.  And you do not want.. “ said Nurul.

“Not!  Not like that..” said Tommy.

“We are always being vigilant and learning to see the signs.  I assure you, my father would not have reached the age limit of twenty-six years with no wife if he had not built such instincts,” Tommy said.

As Nurul looked at Tommy confusedly, Tommy sighed.  “My mother did trap my father, and yes, they were forced to marry.  But my mother had been taught by her parents that ensnaring a man who had honorary titles and even a wealth was the most honorable achievement, which was aspired to in families, mostly families.  My mother behaved the same way she was taught.  I don't blame him for that,” explained Tommy.

Tommy grabs Nurul's hand.  Look at that hand and see the capable and strong fingers, as well as the skin that may never be touched by exotic lotions.  Tommy thinks how different Nurul is from Tommy's greedy mother and only looks.

“My father was also taught something.  He knew to always be on the lookout for that kind of attention.  But, my mother was a beautiful woman and my father was not the most handsome or charismatic person.  He is a book lover and shy.  So when a beautiful girl seduces him, he will strip off all his vigilance,” explained Tommy.

Tommy's voice tightens.  “My father's love-drunk mind misjudges the superficiality of the mind as naivety.  A trait that does not stand as the enthusiasm of young people.  Whatever my mother's shortcomings, my father fulfilled them only in his mind, for simple reasons because he allowed blind emotions.

Instead of being surprised by Tommy's rudeness in the story, Nurul looked at Tommy with understanding.  With an angry look, Tommy let go of Nurul's hand.  He didn't mean to reveal much, it just flowed.

However, if they are married, Nurul should know the reason why Tommy does not serve such reckless attitudes.  “Finally,” continued Tommy.  “My father woke up from the mist of love and realized that my mother was not the woman she thought she was,”.

“But, it was too late.  My mother was pregnant and my father had to do something honorable.  He came to his senses and found his quiet and clever self to have had a selfish and foolish wife, who did not respond to his deep feelings of love as well as the sensitivity of the feelings that father had,”.

Tommy breathed out loudly.  All those memories came back very painful.  Persistent quarrels, his father's refusal to serve his mother's silly wishes, his mother's penchant for liquor.  In the midst of it all, if not for his untimely birth, they would not have survived.

With all his might, Tommy wiped out all those memories.  “Wedding has been a torture for my father.  He loved and was disappointed in my mother, so he withdrew from the marriage to keep her sane,”.

“And mom, she feels the loss of her charming companion, looking for an escape to another place, namely liquor,” explained Tommy.  He continued in a bitter tone.  “That's what ‘feel your stupid love’ did to two poor people who didn't match.  In the end, the romantic relationship was gone.  Can you blame me for thinking these emotions are so dangerous?” said Tommy.

“But, Tom.  Your father remarried a second time, right?  or is she also married without love?” nurul.  “Oh, of course he fell in love again. Dad never learned from experience,” said Tommy.  “So, this second wife is also not a good person?” nurul whisik.

Tommy's expression softened as he thought about his stepmother.  “She is an angel.”  Tommy half-smiles to Nurul.  “Sometimes you remind me of him,” said Tommy.

Nurul blushed, but did not take his eyes off.  “Well, you saw that, right?  Love does not always end in disaster,” Nurul said.  “You don't understand, Nurul.  They enjoyed some wonderful years together. Then, my stepmother became very ill and my father fell.  He has poured himself in his love for my stepmother so losing her is something he cannot bear,” explained Tommy.
