Pandan War is an ancient tradition and is only owned by an ancient Balinese village in Tenganan Village, Karangasem, Bali. Balinese people usually refer to this tradition as mekare-kare and megeret pandan. This tradition is the ritual of Sasih Sembah, which is the largest ritual performed to honor the God Indra or God of War.

Pandan war, which is the real difference that makes Bali Aga villages, especially Tenganan Village, whose culture is different from others. The difference lies in worship, because the people of Bali Aga are devotees of Dewa Inda as the main God.

Some Balinese people who come from the Majapahit tribe who became the main God is Lord Shiva. In addition, they can also see the difference in the temple, they also do not know the “kasta” system as well as other Balinese Hindus.

The weapon used in this panda war tradition is to use pandan as the main weapon. The pandan used is a prickly pandan. Participants are also allowed to carry a shield made of rattan woven and the rules are quite simple.

Persons who fight or duel will be selected by the jury in accordance with their posture. Usually pandan wars will start in the morning to invoke safety and smoothness of events.
