Job Seeking

"See you's... Steve." I said softly.

With this my days with Dave began.

\\*

A week has passed since Steve left Jakarta which means that a week and my days on campus have always been accompanied by Dave. Considering the guy, it really pisses me off not a bitch. Y'all know? Dave could win the Oscar for the actor with the most annoying character, if any. Ah, forget about Dave, we better focus on my struggles today.

Saturday, which is usually enjoyed by human beings to relax, seems to be just a hallucination for me, because I was walking under the blazing eyes of the day down the sidewalk of the hot city of Jakarta.

"Hi neng, where are you going? ojek yuk." bargain for the ojek service men who are currently holding up in one corner of the city.

"No sir. Thanks." answered me politely, good ojek will of course increase my expenses. I better walk from one place to another while handing over my job application.

Speaking of applying for a job, I've been struggling since a few days ago. At first I intended to take my application to the high-rise buildings, hoping that they would be generous and give me a chance. Indeed, in the end I managed to drop my application in several places, but only arrived at the security guard.

The next day, after college I took the time to drop some applications at various shops in the center of the capital, everyone who received my file just smiled and said, "later contacted again yes" without opening my envelope.

"Maybe it will be opened by the boss." I muttered trying to be positive.

So I searched for a job for days, to this day not a single work call came into my phone. As a result, I still have to struggle to find a job now.

"Cyntia's spirit." I told myself.

The scorching sun did not dampen my spirit at all, I still walked with passion down the bustling city of Jakarta.

On the street, at the red light I saw many busking children approaching luxury cars stopping to comply with traffic rules. While on the other hand some other small children are busy peddling cigarettes or candy.

"They are great" I said amazed to see the young people struggling with life. My heart was moved to look at those little warriors.

Not wanting to get dissolved in my feelings, I took a step past from there. When I found the crossing bridge, I set a step up the bridge. Above, the sight that my two senses of sight caught increasingly sliced through my heart. Some people sleep unwinded, with slum bodies and frowny hair.

"Ah... have they not eaten yet?", I asked in my heart.

Suddenly I remembered my lunch and drink, and some cookies I had prepared from home, as a snack at rest.

I looked at the occupants of the bridge. There was an old grandmother, and two small children in separate positions. With a quick movement I went down the stairs of the bridge and looked for the children who were selling under the red lights of this city.

"Ah.. that's it." I said as I stepped closer to the red light pole.

"Dek, 3 bottles of mineral water and 6 seeds of bread yes" I told the boy.

"okay brother." He smiled with relief, finally selling.

"Eh, wait a minute deck, check the expire date first." I stopped the movement.

The skinny boy clung to a black skin scorched by the sun looked at me confused..

"Ex.. ex.. ex det what is sis?" tanyanya's confused.

"Expire date, it's the expiration date of the deck. We must not eat or drink something if it's past that date. Now look here it says EXP 10/2022, now it's 2020 which means we can still drink this water."

The boy looked at me with a look of confusion, as if he had heard information from the space sea.

"Why deck?" I asked softly

"oh.. that, this is my brother's order." he replied, handing me a bag of crackers with my order.

"How much is all deck?"

"22,000."

"this." I handed him the money. "thank you" I said sincerely before running small towards the pedestrian bridge.

After carefully climbing the stairs, I still found the three figures with similar positions.

Without speaking, I placed 1 bottle of mineral water of 250 ml size, and 2 loaves in front of each of them. With quick steps I passed from that place, without looking back to find out their expressions. Not because I'm arrogant, I just can't bear it.

I was flexing my muscles by lying on my bed. Today all the envelopes containing my application file have been delivered, I feel very tired.

"Hey slacker." I heard a familiar voice echoing in my comfortable room.

"Jeez, Dave.

"Geez Cyntia, you got your face so charred?" that voice even mocked me now.

"Ih. bete really cave." I still think that I'm hallucinating.

Suddenly something warm landed on my right cheek. Spontaneously I opened my eyes and now my two balls are perfectly rounded to catch the figure of Dave sitting on my bed and touch my face.

"Hoi, what's loe?" angry bentakku.

"Your face, your face is irritated by Cyntia, I'm just checking it out."

"oh.." I replied quietly. "it's just because it's in the sun really." I replied casually.

"What sunlight? how many hours do you sunbathe until your skin irritates that badly?"

I turned a lip, lazily answering Dave's question. However, I also realized the pain and heat that dominated my face since then, but I considered it normal, after all, I ran out under the sun without an umbrella at all.

"Here's your face let me check." asked Dave as he approached me.

now the man's hand is holding my chin and moving my face to the left, to the right alternately while watching my skin seriously. The position of her face was too close until I could feel her warm breath touching my pores and I suddenly felt tight.

"Hey how did you get into my room?" I asked all of a sudden while keeping my face away from her.

"There's a bitch and aunty in front. He said you were in the room, well I'll just follow you."

"Jeez, stay with Dave. This is a girl's room. Loe why enter carelessly?"

"Oh my goodness, Cyntia, what are you thinking?"

"oh.." I murmured slowly, confused as to what to say.

"I'm here, let's get you to study, be smart. If you are not diligent in learning how you can become a great doctor later."

"Oh.." I'm back oh ria..

"So your face is why is that?"

"Because of Dave's sunshine." I said annoyed considering that he had also asked the same thing.

"Yaudah, to the pharmacy bentar yuk."

"Well?"

"Buy that ointment for your face. Doesn't it hurt?" ask Dave again.

"It hurts. okay. Come on." I replied.

"So why do you wear a hot show under the sun until your skin is so?"

"not fooling around Dave."

"So?"

"I'm out of work."

"what? looking for work? Joob sees what you mean."

"yes yes."

Dave took a deep breath hearing my answer. His face looked like one who was thinking hard.

"This guy why the hell?" I murmured in my heart.
