If I Could Dream
PROLOGUES

It still feels foreign.

When I saw this new outfit—white shirt and gray skirt— stuck in my body, I still did not expect that I finally officially became a High School boy. Right. I'm a High School boy! I'm in 10th grade! I can finally feel the teenage life in the books of novels I read! Finally—

"Miss Jinny is coming! Back and forth!" exclaimed a man who had rammed a guitar in the doorway.

Quickly he returned to the bench while pushing his friend nosy. Similarly, the entire student who rushed to their respective seats.

A woman who was talking about also entered the classroom. His stilettos knocked on the floor firmly until he sat in his seat of power. Teacher desk.

"Ready!" Aba-aba class leader.

From her throne, the woman took a sharp look in all directions, watching the 30 students in the 10th grade of MIPA B standing tall and steady.

"Greetings!"

"Good morning, Miss Jinny!" the whole class.

"Good morning everyone, take your seat."

Miss Jinny picked up the marker while the disciples sat down. No one dared to open their voice when the English teacher did something. Listen, he also served as Waka Kesiswaan. Every day Miss Jinny waited near the school gate, greeting the students coming to find imperfections.

"Where's your tie?" the question to the uniformed student is incomplete. "5 points reduction. Again incomplete, you stand on the field for an hour of study."

Miss Jinny did not mess with her words. There is a story, if our class brother ever deliberately came with not in full uniform. As a result, she was dried in the hot sun for an hour of lessons, then returned to class with a license signed by Miss Jinny.

"Rin! Karim!" whispered someone while nudging his arm.

Karin is awakened from the daydream. Looking up, everyone stared at him with an uneasy look. Wh why? What's up? Karin was really confused. When he turned his head in doubt to Sandra, his countryman, Miss Jinny's voice cut them off.

"Katarina Kusumaputri."

The eagle-eyed woman tapped her marker on the table. Intimidating Karin who laboriously upheld saliva.

"You didn't listen to me?"

"Yes Miss." Karin said. Confused as well as allowing. "Sorry Miss."

"Because it's my first time in this class, so I'm sorry." Miss Jinny circulated her gaze throughout the classroom. "But from now on, you, I'll mark."

Mampus.

"Now listen to me."

"Well Miss," said Karin quickly.

Knock the marker Miss Jinny stopped. Her lips were polished deep red lipstick moved seriously.

"What's your dream?"

Karin frowned trying to remember.

"Neither, Miss."

"No time exists?

"Night I had nothing to dream about, Miss."

The silence of the class instantly exploded into laughter. What the fuck is that response? Sandra nudged her shoes under the table, making Karin turn to ask for an explanation. I was wrong to say yes? Sandra nodded, not the 'that' dream she meant!

Aaa~ Karin shut her gaping mouth, not expecting that her brain had misinterpreted Miss Jinny's question. Now, he did not know what to do other than shameless whiny and call his own folly.

"Hadeeehhh!" Miss Jinny shook her head with a small smile. It seems strange because it is far from terrible rumors about him. "Do you know what I mean?"

"Sorry Miss, I'm reflex hehehe."

"The second day of school, still shocked." Miss Jinny tried to understand. "You, the one next to Karin."

The class calmed down again, but praise God, not as awkward and stiff as before.

Sandra spontaneously straightened her body for a second after laughing loosely. "Sa-i'm Miss?"

"The man."

Miss Jinny pointed at someone behind Karin with a marker. Appointing a black-haired man who now justifies his sitting position.

"Me, Miss?" ask the guy. His heavy and clear voice attracted Karin's curiosity to look back.

Oh, God...

Karin pretends not to know.

"Good." The guy complies and does what the teacher wants. "Good morning everyone, greetings, I'm Gabriel Yudhistira, just call El, from Panjalu Junior High School Pontianak. My biggest dream is to become a useful IT technician for the community. Thank you." Thank you."

One class claps their hands while miss Jinny lets El sit back.

"Good." Miss Jinny nodded in amazement at her ideals. Now, he observed again, looking for the person he wanted to know his dream. "You."

The marker held by Miss Jinny pointed to the front bench. A girl in pink glasses tidied up the writing book and the matching colored pen pegged for a second, then stood up confidently.

"Good morning, my name is Agnesius Septiani, usually called Agnes. I am from Panjalu Junior High School Pontianak, and I aspire to become a doctor. Thank you." Thank you."

Applause filled the classroom again. Miss Jinny's face was slightly brighter as she let the girl sit down.

"good. What doctor does Agnes want to be?" tanyakanya.

The girl in pink glasses smiled. "I want to be a dentist, Miss."

"Wow, amazing. May your dream be achieved, yes." Miss Jinny smiled slightly.

"Bau-bau beloved child is not it?" whispered Sandra from the side. Karin nudged the little girl while giggling. "Eits, it can't be that."

"Well, Katarina Kusumaputri."

"Yes, Miss?" Hearing his name called Sontak Karin stood like a soldier ready for war.

"Do you know what I mean by 'dream?"

"Ready, already Miss!"

"Now introduce yourself."

Karin took a deep breath before flinging and forming a smile.

"Hello-hello! My name is Katarina Kusumaputri, usually called Karin. I am from Pontianak State Junior High School, and. My dream..."

The whole class again noticed her as the tone of the girl's voice grew increasingly inaudible.

Karin was silent on the spot. His eyes looked empty and thought hard about what his dream was?

What did he want all this time?

What will he look like in the future?

Karin blinked confusedly. His brain is completely empty. There is no clear picture. There was no answer other than the faint shadows of paint colors and the collection of brushes passed through his mind.

No. gabe.

Karin shakes her head. The shadow is like shaking off smoke that obscures the view.

So many seconds have passed. Everything was waiting, including the astonished Miss Jinny.

"Karin?" Miss Jinny called. His voice interrupted Karin from the shadows that disappeared in an instant. "So? What dreams?"

Miss Jinny may look like an oppressive authoritarian woman, but deep down, she worries that her student's child really has no shadow in the future.

Karin grimaces. "I don't know, Miss."

Miss Jinny nodded. "Well... If you don't know yet, you better find out now so you have ambition. Sit." Sit."

"Yes, Miss. Thank you." Thank you."

Karin was about to sit down, but the shadows of color paint and brushes came back to haunt her mind. He teased the girl as if asking for attention. As if they should be validated.

Karin clucked. No. gabe. Can't do. It can not think of color paint and brushes. Can't do.

Yet...

"If I may, Miss..."

Karin is still standing. If he had to stop the shadow by validating it, he would. Right, he'll do it right now!

"If I may dream, Miss. I want to be a painter."

Now, the shadow wins. The shadow increasingly crossed his brain with clear images. Tells what Karin looks like with a white t-shirt stained with paint and her room filled with canvas.

But no matter why, Miss Jinny's question cracked her entire shadow.

"Why if I could? Can't you dream?"
