It was dark when Shandy woke up from his afternoon sleep. It was the mother who woke him up. The room lamp that he had not been able to turn on, now lit up very brightly. 

Trying to adjust his eyes and sit on the edge of the mattress, Shandy looked at the mother who was standing before him.

They had dinner quietly. No meaningful conversation.

Immediately the mother stood up and headed towards the refrigerator to pick up Shandy's cake.
