"I don't understand Mira, why is it that your heart can so widely forgive Ricard?" nathan said that afternoon.
"I don't have a big heart like you think. But, I have a broad mind that I'm trying to think of Positive things."
"Hem. when you know how Ricard was so mean to us."
"I know, but we also need to know. Every crime has an underlying reason. After I thought. Ricard's past crimes against you, which before we met were because he envied you."
"Don't you say yourself that the business world is cruel? Competition and sycophants are everywhere? If that's the case, then Ricard's wrong and deserves to be punished."
"But another mistake. Like hating me? Hating you more? It all comes back to each of us."
Nathan fell silent, trying to digest all of Mira's words. Seemed scratching his neck without not understanding.
"Nath. We, me and you, are taking part in Ricard's mistakes he's made."
"You mean?"
"I'm having an affair with you. Whatever the reason, I used to be his wife but I love and love other men."
"He never considered you Mira's wife! Can you talk like that?"
"That's because Ricard loved other women long before I was. Just as you. He just wants to keep his love. So is Kayla."
"She should divorce you, don't hold you back from intentionally making you miserable!"
"That was Ricard's biggest mistake. She's more concerned about her revenge on me for ruining her dream of marrying Kayla, than for the safety of her life."
"Then what's my fault?
Mira chuckled, now holding both Nathan's cheeks.
"You've taken someone's wife."
"But the captured want!"
"Because I love you."
Nathan blushed.
"You love me, don't you?"
"Of course Mira."
"I love you too. We love each other. They're also Nath."
Nathan is now silent, already able to understand all Mira's words.
Sure enough, there's a compelling reason behind Ricard's crimes.
"At least, with us dropping our lawsuit on Ricard, he'll be spared the death penalty. Then the next verdict, it's the judge's own decision."
****
"The wrong must be punished, sir. That's the real law. Upright tapered upwards. Not tapering down!"
Ken sighed as Nathan's Law Power spoke. Looking at Kayla who is currently participating in meeting Nathan's Law Power.
"Although we've already dropped all our claims to Ricard?" Ken asked back.
"Although Sir. You can drop all the claims. What about the obvious thing? Evidence, witnesses and confessions from Ricard's own brother? Although there have been no fatalities other than Miss Mira's miscarriage which can be said to be an accident due to the intentional encouragement of Brother Ricard or had not deliberately wanted to kill the baby. But planning his murder, it could already make his sentence severe. Not to mention Brother Ricard is Napi who once escaped from Prisoner by injuring some apparatus."
"Law cannot act recklessly. The wrong will be punished."
"But, can the Sentence of Death change?"
"In Indonesia, the death penalty is still threatened for a number of crimes, including premeditated murder, drugs, and terrorism. That is, still a threat. If there is a case that can reduce the crime, it could be the death penalty turned into life imprisonment."
"What's? A lifetime?" Kayla.
Ken only glanced at a glance at Kayla's restless face.
"A lifetime, it's just the same Ken. Ricard can't be free anymore!"
"That's better, miss. At least, Ricard doesn't have to die." said Ken.
"So this is it, sir. I'd like to explain a little bit, so that there's no misunderstanding."
Both nod.
"RUU KUHP: The Death Penalty who Can Behave Well The Verdict Can Be Changed. The RUU KUHP provides a second chance for death row inmates to behave well in prison. If the convict changes his behavior in a positive direction, then his death sentence can be disallowed and replaced with a life imprisonment sentence."
To facilitate the understanding of life imprisonment, I exemplify, if a person is sentenced to life imprisonment when he is 21 years old, so based on the opinion that the meaning of ‘seemual’ is the same as the age of the convict when the verdict was handed down, the person in question will serve a prison sentence of 21 years. It certainly violates the provisions of Article 12 paragraph (4) of the Penal Code as mentioned earlier, where the length of punishment carried out by the convict exceeds the maximum limit of 20 years.
Another example, based on the same opinion, if the convict is sentenced to life imprisonment when he was 18 years old, means the convict will serve a life sentence of 18 years. This certainly raises confusion, which is why the judge does not directly punish the convict for 18 years in prison, even though it is still allowed in the Penal Code?
He even said life sentences.
From the description above we can conclude the legal basis and logic we think that the purpose of life imprisonment is prison as long as the convict is still alive, and his sentence will only end when he dies."
"That thought is wrong!"
"So that means Ricard won't be in jail for that long?" Kayla quickly interrupted.
"really. Brother Ricard, will be in prison according to his age. While the article says criminal is not recommended beyond 20 years. It means Ricard's brother, will still be imprisoned for no more than 20 years."
"One more thing. Criminal law expert at the University of Islam Bandung (Unisba) Nandang Sambas said the verdict of a judge who gave sentences to defendants in prison for life could have a deterrent effect. However, that life-long verdict could later change, even more leniently over time."
****
"Then what now?" Nathan asked Ken. After Ken and Kayla both sat down in front of Nathan.
Ken had finished explaining to Ricard about the explanation of the Law Power earlier.
"The trial was adjourned" after Nathan answered, Ken turned to Kayla. It was as if giving a chance to Kayla who spoke.
"Nath. Whatever the court's decision will be, I should thank you. Especially you. Thanks to the Revocation of your Lawsuit, Ricard was not sentenced to death. I'm so grateful for that. At least my baby still has a chance to see his father."
Nathan nodded.
"Everybody must have Kayla's fault. The difference is that some are small and some are big. Some people immediately realize it, some do not. For example me, you, Ricard and Mira. We all have mistakes. And every mistake has its own reason."
"You're right Nath."
"Ah, okay. Forget everything. I've been trying hard. For Ricard's punishment. Assume it was to make up for her hatred for me all this time. Didn't Ricard hate me long before Mira? You must know that."
This time Kayla nodded.
"Ricard, say hello to you Nath. And send greetings to Mira. He apologized in truth. May you be happy forever."
"Ah yes. May you also."
Kayla just nodded.
"Then what are your next plans for your pregnancy?"
"You don't want to, we're getting married in Ricard's cell. We have planned, even though we have not yet fully negotiated. My parents, despite hating Ricard so much, but now they've agreed. Because anyway, they're gonna do it for their future grandkids."
"One more time, thanks Nath. I'm going home, right? Give my thanks to Mira."
"Alright Kayla. May you be steadfast in all this."
Kayla smiles. "There is wisdom behind all this Nath. I finally got married to Ricard. I love her so much. I can also confirm if Ricard this time will be deterred and can be a better human being. Then my parents? If it wasn't for me being pregnant, how could they possibly want to bless our relationship."
"You're right Kay. There must be a silver lining." replied Nathan.
"Go home Kay. You need a quick break. I'm sorry Mira can't sit here. He's fast asleep."
"It's okay Nath. I get it."

Note:
Each character of a person, in fiction or fact, has its own advantages and disadvantages although it cannot be described in detail.
Well the point is, take the good side in this story. Which indirectly teaches us to the breadth of one's heart. Allah alone is entitled to all things Oft-Forgiving, what about his servant?
This story teaches how we know, the struggle of love someone. It teaches us that vengeance will not solve the problem. The grudges that continued, would only become increasingly pointed hostility. Forgiving the mistakes of others is the worst thing. And not everyone can do it.
"The wrong must be punished." But the cruel cruelty of human law must not exceed the law of Allah SWT which is most entitled to punish his servant. That's the right one.
One more thing, please follow the next chapter first before judging a clear decision. So that we avoid wrong judgments, and avoid words that can hurt the hearts of others.
Hopefully this writing is not just a mere entertainer but, can be a learning for all of us.
