I Can Hear Your Heart

I Can Hear Your Heart
1. Accident on the party

The party will be held in my office, in a five-star hotel, right in the hotel's mini ballroom on the ground floor of this fifteen-story hotel. A celebration of the totality, loyalty and integrity of hotel employees. An attempt to trigger employees shows the best results that can be given to the company.

Obviously one of those prestigious awards will fall to me. Maybe it sounds arrogant if you don't know who I am. I had heard those rumors long before this celebration was done from behind the walls of the hearts of the decision makers. I am still busy with activities to ensure the comfort of hotel guests among the noise that hit my eardrum.

I don't know if this is an advantage or a curse. My world is a real noise. Those unceasing voices that were shouting silently and should have been private property resounded loudly in my ears. Yet I have lived almost twenty years with this ability.

I hate having to work tonight.

The voice sounded like a complaint being voiced simultaneously by hotel employees throughout the room I crossed from the lobby to behind the floor rooms.

I'm sorry, Will, I can't wait for you to reach the post of General Manager I'm going to age and die waiting for you, you didn't move from your position three years ago - just the staff at the training department while my Papa asked me to marry his best friend's son.

How am I supposed to say it?

Someone appeared in front of me and greeted me.

"Night, Manager, Li. You're not even ready to party yet?" Willy, from the training department appeared before me with his performance that had been perfect like his usual day. The official stelan in a black suit with a white shirt and a slick tie hanging around his neck. He just changed a little hairstyle that is usually neatly arranged like a calm young executive with the hair hemisphere to the right now slightly prancing up with excessive hair oil, I want to look more perfect than others.

A woman was in his arms. Beautiful and classy.

This is my last party with you. Sorry, Will, I have to end our relationship. Papa asked me to marry his best friend's son.

I realized the voice came from the woman who was now in front of me. No words were spoken from his lips. So this was clearly the voice of his heart.

"Darabine, Li. You just shut up?" Willy jerked. I looked at his handsome face and tried to throw a smile. Kelu. Imagine that in a moment it might be a beautiful smile on her face that would turn into a cry of sorrow.

"You know I live here and it doesn't take long to get ready." I'm chit-talking.

I know he was enthusiastic about the show. Everyone is like that too. They came home early to prepare. The night shif may feel unlucky. Well, even though they would still get party food, but not being able to attend the party was not a fun thing.

"Your lover?" I looked at the woman who immediately let go of her graceful and classy smile at me. His eyes stared at the name bet on the uniform I was wearing as we shook hands.

If your job is like this woman, maybe I can persuade Papa.

He spoke again. I mean heart.

"Rania's King." He said his name. His last name clearly indicates who his extended family is. The paper is a timber export businessman who is also now the owner of several thousand shares of this hotel. Ah, I realized most likely Willy just like the rest of the hotel employees was not even aware of the recent change in shareholding arrangements.

"My love is beautiful, Manager?" Willy grabbed the woman's shoulder and rewarded her with a surprise kiss on her cheek and made the woman protest a little. " There's no shame. Manager Li is a very understanding person." And he added: "I have a surprise for you."

"What?"

Willy's laughter was visible. His handsome face looked even more handsome. "Secret," he whispered ignorantly. His eyes glanced mischievously.

Be patient for a while, darling. Just for a little while longer because I'm going to propose to you today in front of all your friends and hotel bosses. It will be an unforgettable day for us.

How I describe Willy at this time. Miris. How I intend to tell her that sometimes a beautiful beginning does not always end beautifully either. But he had passed by to find other colleagues who had emerged from the doorway of the hotel lobby. He waved when I was still weighing both good and bad.

***

The party started quite late from the set time to wait for the shareholder representative, so I wasn't really late to attend this event.

Two hundred guests were in the room, sitting around a table lined with fine white cloth that added a classy impression to the event. Aurora-inspired decoration looks to cheer the atmosphere.

A famous band of hotel subscriptions was playing on stage with enthusiasm and the event began with a speech from the General Manager. Everyone gave a loud applause.

"Thank you for all the hard work and loyalty that you have put into this hotel to reach a five-star hotel rating." The General Manager's voice clashed with the other voices around me, making a real noise. It always takes extra concentration for me to be able to focus my mind on one choice of what I want to hear. And maybe because the speech didn't interest me that much, I let the voices run through my hearing.

I hate parties.

Someone at this party said the same thing that I felt though obviously for a different reason. Being locked up in a room with hundreds of people is not a fun thing for me. The words from their lips bombarding me coupled with the content of their minds, it was exhausting.

Accountant. That boring old accountant is you. Move to one of the guests. Please Michael. It seems he always glances at you. Maybe he likes you too or if he doesn't treat anyone then maybe you won't enjoy your old days alone.

That's Risa's voice, from the finance department. Maybe he was too desperate for solitude.

Waou, where did Helen get that rich and handsome man? Is that her lover? They don't look like they fit into each other. The man's eyes may be myopic or Helen wears incantations until the man wants her. That guy looks better with me.

It was Kayla's voice from the marketing department who was commenting on her own best friend Helena from the same department as her.

"I want you to hear one or two words from the shareholders' representatives, but since they haven't arrived yet, it might be a good idea to start with another event. Tasting dishes." GM finally closed his speech with the most awaited sentence of everyone.

The most pleasant sounds are heard in this phase. The happy cheers are then colored by the movement of everyone from their respective tables towards the food display table.

I chose to step into the pile of cocktail glasses, grabbing the top one as another feeling hit me.

I pregnant.

"Tests.tes.." Willy took the microphone from the stage and made his whole eye now look at him as he had stood by the side of his desk and prostrated himself in front of his lover. The band played Glenn Fredly's sweet song: Marry me. Some comrades whistled for his courage.

You're a grown woman.

"Rania Dipraja, thank you for all the days we spent. Thank you for your love. Now I want to spend my whole day with you. Will you marry me?"

Forgetit.

Because we won't live it together.

Fear and sorrow hit me and shook me. Sweat flooded me and I shivered, even breathing was so difficult. My chest is sick and tight. I know I have a strange talent for hearing the inner voice of everyone around me, but I don't know exactly what this feeling is.

"I'm sorry, but Rania Dipraja was born to marry me." A dashing man with a dapper and masculine stelan appeared just like that to everyone's surprise. Mr. Rahardika Raharja, one of the main commissioners of the hotel, now holds the hand of Rania Dipraja. Right on the other side, Mr. Raharja and his wife and Mr. Dipraja and his wife stood staring intently at all corners of the room.

Willy's body staggered. Shock.

My body staggered even more for different reasons and made me nudge the entire stack of cocktail cups that were arranged like a pyramid. The glass broke just as a figure floated from above and fell down in a very loud noise right on the side of the glass wall of the mini ballroom we used to party.

"Wowhawggggh!" the sound of terrified screams rang out from the mouths of my colleagues and their families.

The party turned into panic.
