Chapter #37

A loud pat landed on Reid's wide shoulder. The guy who had not responded at all to Aunt Smith's question reflexively looked to the right. The facial water of the part-time job superintendent boss seemed annoyed at the same time sirat question mark simultaneously.

Reid with a bland smile and a puzzled look in his eyes then opened his voice. He didn't want to worry Aunt Smith. But, how will you? His movements since yesterday really cannot be said to be awkward and dizzying head.

“Yes? What did your aunt say?”

Eyebrows with a little gray hair that began to stick out Aunt Smith suddenly formed a straight line. He faintly began to carelessly himself with a forced smile on Reid.

Not because Reid's smile looks shitty or anything. However, this charming young man next to him had long since thought of as his own child. So, if anything unpleasant happens to Reid. Only from the look on his face did he know. Plus, what great thing was it that made this exemplary and highly reliable employee suddenly turn out to be extremely careless and rigid?

“Two today you why Reid? Not usually to daydream constantly like this. What was? What are you thinking, hm? Was it because of yesterday's assignment? Too complicated, is it?”

“Ah, that—no, I mean, yes. Nope, no. I—nothing I'm thinking.”

Reid's stammering answer was clearly not a little bit successful in calming Aunt Smith's anxiety. He who is increasingly making women aged to the head of five was overwhelmed with curiosity.

The question was inescapable and then heard again from Aunt Smith's mouth. “Really? You sure Reid?”

“Yes. Aunty need not worry and sorry too, I became troublesome.”

Reid scratched his non-itchy nape. He again threw a clumsy smile and avoided looking right at Aunt Smith's two dark irises.

While Aunt Smith who got the response was so unnatural Reid, finally could only sigh resignedly. It was difficult to actually encourage a teenager surnamed Cutler to let out his outpouring of heart. It doesn't matter if it's just one or two words.

But, yeah, that's it. Ribet and more crowded also if long discussed.

“Good. Then, at ten o'clock you can go home sooner. Yesterday also Auntie found out from Uncle Smith, you are not focused when you work. So, just take a break for today. Later there will be Ulrich who replaces in thirty minutes before noon. Now, you calculate and put the items that just came into the shelf.”

Speech at length Aunty Smith then ended the awkward atmosphere around Reid. He then quickly stepped back to move into the storage of goods. However, there had not been some incandescent after he passed the warehouse door, the notification from his smartphone suddenly interrupted.

PINGING!

...[ Important Reminder! — Three days before collection of short comedy theater assignments in Spanish. ]...

The phone screen instantly displays the notification bar once it is turned on. A reminder that Reid installed spontaneously after Profe Ledger class yesterday, is clearly listed above the lock screen. He thought for a moment too. Worryingly. Does he have to call Leonna or just do everything himself?

“How now? I forgot that there was still this troublesome task. Did I just call Leonna? But, yesterday's events—ugh, stop thinking about it!”

THE PLAQUE!

The slap was quite hard Reid lay on his tapered cheek. It's been to the shadows of the kiss between Leonna and herself spinning like a broken tape. His heart was also beating very fast. He was even groggy when he started counting and categorizing the self-service items that had just arrived this morning.

“Reid is ten o'clock. You can go home faster. Ulrich also called in fifteen minutes. Part-time work for noon will also be canceled. So, you don't have to worry and can go back to work tomorrow.”

The locker was right near the entrance and Reid opened it. He was in a hurry this morning, so he only carried a sling bag with a wallet, a pen, and a small notebook.

“Task skit..”.

All of his luggage was now in his grasp. However, instead of Reid immediately leaving, he was busy staring at the runyam backpack and then suddenly pulled out the smart phone.

“Hm, did I just call Leonna? Yesterday, the girl got sick. Is he better? All right, I'll send him a message first.”

Reid who stood lethargic in front of the locker then drowned fiddling with his smartphone. He then opened the mailbox and started typing something. After repeatedly stringing, deleting, and modifying the results of the type and then hesitantly pressing the send button.

...[ Recipient: Leonna Fellow Skit Spain ]...

...Leonna, are you feeling better? If so, would you like to meet today to do our skit work? But, if you're still not feeling well. No, it's okay. Happy resting....

Geck... Geck...

The knock on the door stopped Reid's daydreaming activity. Aunt Smith was already standing in front of the entrance and just silently looked at the tall young man with a smile. While Reid who was stared at and then with keki immediately put his smartphone into the pocket of his pants.

“Aunt Smith, is there anything?”

“Nothing. Just—listen. Not that aunt meant to interfere or anything. But, if something is bothering you, you can always talk to your aunt. Maybe it won't help much. However, auntie hope by issuing your complaints, the burden on your heart and mind seems to be slightly reduced and clearer.”

Finding the words to calm Aunt Smith, Reid then smiled. He was sad and happy to be noticed like this, especially by an Aunt Smith.

Life without a biological parent, not even knowing who the person who gave birth to you into the world, of course. Anyone would feel guilty even if it was just a speck. But, if it wasn't for being abandoned or not. Reid may never meet Aunt Smith, nor other sincere and affectionate people, like Aunt Skyle, Miss Wira, and Uncle Smith. Yep. He feels very lucky now.

“Thank you, Aunt Smith. But, really. I'm fine.”

PINGING!

The sound of the notification turned Aunt Smith's attention towards the origin of the sound source. The smartphone that Reid just put in his pocket, he had to take it out again. He was stunned. The name of the sender of the message, which he thought would not immediately reply, has now been listed on the lock screen.
