Great Swordsman
Ch.71 - Reconnaissance Mission

Xu Feng felt a little comical in his heart, this old man actually intended to test it out. Xu Feng only smiled faintly in return, he was not offended by Zhao Quan's actions.

“Chairman, I hope the subordinate you gave the mission is a trustworthy person.” Xu Feng suddenly reminded, he did not want what he had planned to be chaotic due to the leak of information.

“I know.. I will talk to Elder Yang Meng and Elder Gong Heng regarding this matter.” Zhao Quan nodded seriously, he was also thinking the same as Xu Feng.

“This.” Xu Feng was stunned and was about to speak but stopped halfway, he was honestly a little worried and wanted Zhao Quan alone to carry out this mission, however even the Lotus Sect Master betrayed, he said, who knew if the two Core Elders of the Forest Eagle Sect were also doing the same?

Unfortunately Xu Feng had no solid evidence, and nor could he just talk carelessly, things could backfire if the two Elders of the Forest Eagle Sect heard his words.

“What's up?” Zhao Quan noticed Xu Feng's change in face and was about to ask but Xu Feng first cut him off and said that he was only thinking about something that didn't really matter.

“Hopefully both Core Elders are on the same side.” Inner Xu Feng.

Due to the limitations of strength and status, there were not many things he could do, he could only helplessly let this thing flow just like that.

A few moments later the waiter came with food. This dish is in the form of rice, various Devil Beast meat, vegetables and beer bottles. Xu Feng stared at the various dishes with a clueless look, for him the food was too excessive considering this was an army that was moving towards the battlefield, there should be no need to focus on luxury.

“Is it because the world is different so something like this is seen as common?” Xu Feng shook his head slowly and laughed at his thoughts, it seemed that the culture from Earth was still embedded deep in his head.

“Please, eat as much as you can, your body will need nutrients.” Zhao Quan invited with a smile, he even prepared the flesh of a two-star Adult Demon Beast to properly entertain Xu Feng.

Xu Feng laughed over Zhao Quan's treatment, it was true that this two-star Adult Demon Beast was extremely beneficial to his body that was at the Sixth Stage. He inevitably slightly praised Zhao Quan and mentioned that this was the best treatment he had ever received.

Hearing Xu Feng's words, Zhao Quan was delighted. It was a bit difficult to find a two-star Adult Demon Beast, however a monster with strength equivalent to a Sixth Stage cultivator was not a pebble that could be found anywhere. This quality meat was already a top commodity, only the nobles and people of Zhao Quan's class could enjoy it.

“Xu Feng, take a break for a moment, I need to meet Elder Yang Meng and Elder Gong Heng.” Zhao Quan stood up after they finished the meal, he should not delay Ma Tao's matter for too long.

Xu Feng nodded then went towards a room under the direction of a servant. Arriving there, Xu Feng sat cross-legged on the bed and waited for nightfall.

Xu Feng was sure the time in which Ma Tao made contact with his accomplice should have taken place at night, after all the dark hoods could help them to hide better.

Time passed and darkness enveloped the entire land but Xu Feng had not moved a single bit, he continued to wait until the time approached midnight. Then, Xu Feng exhaled and slowly opened his eyes, he stared at the dark sky through the window of the tent.

“Eld Zhao has not returned, if there is no mistake, he should also have moved.” Xu Feng muttered softly and slowly got off the bed. Just as Xu Feng was about to come out, a servant suddenly entered his room and handed him a folded piece of paper.

Xu Feng was a little confused but still received the paper while driving away the maids. When he opened the paper, Xu Feng slightly chuckled, “This old man really did not disappoint.. He knows what I need.”

On the paper is written Ma Tao's identity as a soldier as well as in the unit where he is located. Some people who were close to or had frequent contact with Ma Tao were also mentioned, they were all designated as people worthy of suspicion.

“Second Specimen of First Division yahh.” Xu Feng muttered in astonishment, if he did not misunderstand, this was the Division where Zhao Quan served as the Deputy Division Commander. Xu Feng inevitably let out a small laugh, he was sure the old man would have been very furious by now.

Xu Feng put on his hood and walked out of the tent. Now almost midnight, each soldier was in his tent to rest. Hardly anyone was wandering the streets aside from the patrol team on duty, the camp was currently in a state of silence and silence.

Xu Feng used the darkness to move towards Ma Tao's tent whose location had been marked inside the letter. Thanks to his perception as a Sixth Stage, whenever Xu Feng sensed the presence of the patrol team, he would avoid it and look for a detour. Xu Feng even avoided exposure to the light of the oil lamps that lit up in every tent.

Xu Feng moved quietly in the shadows, passing through a path where there was only darkness without the slightest light. One could have misunderstood him as an assassin trying to sneak into the camp.

“Hm!?” Suddenly Xu Feng caught a few figures through his perception, he was sure they were a team driven by Zhao Quan.

“I must not enter into their perception range.” Xu Feng found a tree and jumped on it, he needed to determine their specific location with certainty. After all Xu Feng was not sure if they were allies or one of them was a plot of Ma Tao as well.

This reason was also why Xu Feng asked Zhao Quan to work alone. He trusted the old man but that didn't mean his subordinates were also trustworthy. One needs to be extra careful in these conditions.

“They spread.”

Xu Feng muttered as his perception caught their movement spreading to some point. Aside from being hidden in the darkness, the rest stayed away and surrounded Ma Tao's tent in a circular form. Xu Feng was even slightly impressed in the process, he was sure they should be a special team considering how expert they were in hiding.

“If not for my high perception, it would be difficult to realize their existence.” Xu Feng clicked his tongue while nodding slowly, his efforts were at least fruitful, the army higher-ups were actually treating the matter very seriously.
