Ever since I was a child, I have been bullied because of my glasses. The kids made fun of me during elementary and middle school. Calling me by names like nerd, four-eye, dork, and more. I mean.. hello! Not that I chose to wear these thick glasses! I admit I don't look too attractive with half of my face covering these, but without them, I can't
saw nothing. My whole world is blurry. Rare eye conditions are stupid. Why can't I be born as normal as anyone else?
Even with all the ridicule and intimidation, I held on well. Until I met Evan...
At first, he didn't notice me like everyone else. But one day he called me to him while I was on my way to lunch.
"Hey, you! With glasses!" she said.
"Huh? Me?" I'm stumped. Why is Evan Williams talking to me?
It was the first month of my first year. I immediately noticed him because he was very handsome with his bright blue eyes and a childish slanted grin. Far from my ability. Not that it matters. There are no boys who
likes me.
"What do you see, weird?" he barked when he saw me staring at him. And that's all he told me that month.
So, don't blame me for being surprised when he suddenly talks to me!
"Yes, I'm talking to you. Did you see anyone else wearing glasses?" he said and narrowed his eyes at me.
"T..no.." I stammered. I feel very nervous. I'm not good at dealing with boys.
"Well, don't just stand there like a stupid lamppost. Come here," he commanded.
I'm not arguing. He was rather frightening with his tall and muscular physique. He practically towered above me.
"I've been watching you for a while now," he said.
I blushed. He's watching me. That's unsurprising.
"So, I've decided you're going to be my errand boy now" he said.
Waitwhat?
"I mean, you'll do everything I ask. From now on. Buy me a snack from the vending machine" he ordered.
"I don't understand" I said.
He nodded and held my shoulder. His blue eyes looked into my eyes. "Let me spell this for you, new kid because you're new. I rule this fucking school. You are in my territory now. That means you don't want to make me angry."
Sure oes...I should have expected this. I will be intimidated again.
"What if I say no?" ask me weakly
"Then I'll be really angry. And when I get angry, bad things happen to you. Things you can't even imagine." he growled.
Ow hell! Why me!
"I'll take your snacks" I said.
"Good girl" he said and patted my head.
I ran away feeling scared and humiliated. This is a disaster. I didn't know he was such a bully. I returned with a snack and handed it to him.
"This is your snack, can I go now?"
Evan POV
Brent began to lead Elena into the back seat.
"No. Elena sat in front, next to me," I ordered. He didn't argue with me and led Elena forward.
"Good boy" I said and started driving again.
"A ... Where did you take us?" Brent asked nervously.
"I'll take you home first, then take Elena with me" I said.
"Wait.don't hurt him! He didn't do anything wrong" Brent said desperately.
"Why do you think I'd hurt her? It's not like I kidnapped her. We're neighbors, morons," I growled.
"So ... What's wrong with you and that squirrel's face?" ask Elena after delivering Brent.
"Wait.don't hurt him! He didn't do anything wrong" Brent said desperately.
"Why do you think I'd hurt her? It's not like I kidnapped her. We're neighbors, morons," I growled.
"Brent. What's wrong with you and Brent?" ask again.
"T. It's okay.we are friends," he said nervously.
"Friends huh? I don't think you have any friends" I said rudely.
"He talked to me in class, so we started talking more. I like him, he's nice to me" Elena continued.
I see what's going on here. The little hamster finds himself a squirrel so how does he try to escape from the wolf. Didn't happen!
I stopped the car on the side of the road in front of his house.
"You'll be able to walk to your front door or do I need to take your ass there?" I asked.
"No, no! Don'tdon't. I can arrange it" he said hurriedly.
"Cool. Then get out of my car" bark and watch him leave. He raised his hand in front of him like he was walking in darkness. So stupid. I should have taken him there.
I went home and took a shower and ate the food my mother left in the fridge. He works overtime as usual which means, I can have the whole house to myself.
Later that day, I decided to take a walk to the park that was right outside our neighborhood. I was surprised to see Elena sitting on the swing with her head down.
"Oh, look who's here" I cried in a mocking tone.
He did not raise his head and tremble
a little like she was crying.
What the fuck? I thought I was the only one who made her cry.
"What's wrong with you?" I demand to know.
you?" aska I want to know.
He finally looked up. Her cheeks were wet with tears. His left cheek looked red and rough like someone slapped it.
"Ma.kamamataku.." he started talking but could not finish his sentence.
"Yes, glasses. I broke. Big problem. Is that something that needs to be addressed?" I said pissed.
"My mom said she wouldn't let me into the house if I didn't get a new pair of shoes. But I don't have any money," he pleaded.
What the fuck..what kind of a mother is that?
I walked towards him and touched the red dot on his cheek. "He hit you too?" ask me when he jerks.
He did not say and looked down again, but he did not have to.
"Suckers.all right. Let's go," I sigh.
"Where?" she asked.
"To buy you new glasses" I said.
"Ap...what? Q..no, no need!" his protest.
"Just shut up and come with me before I get angry," I grabbed his hand and started walking towards my car.
I took her to the store so she could pick a new partner. It was almost $200, no wonder his mother became so angry!
