Emely's Struggle

CHAPTER 2

" Eduar told me that you've gone to work." Emely looks neat in her work clothes. After deciding to quit college because of being hit with tuition fees, Emely chose to work to help his family's economy and let his sister continue college. Although both are in college because of scholarships for their achievements, other costs such as books, photocopies of assignments and others that are not included in the scholarship make Emely prefer to stop.

Emely worked at one of the family-owned restaurants of one of his best friends named Sicily. It is the one who recommends Emely to his aunt, the restaurant owner who every day becomes the place where Emely scavenges the windfall. Emely also has a friend named Ana who comes from an upper-class family. Because of his intelligence Emely always helps his two friends in making assignments on campus when Emely went to college until now.

"Emely come here, son." Said Aunt Nia the owner of the restaurant where Emely works. Aunt Nia loved Emely as much as her niece Sicily. Hearing Sicilian stories about Emely's life and struggles made Aunt Nia sympathize with him. Plus Emely who always works well in the restaurant makes Aunt Nia more loving Emely. Although Emely works from afternoon to night, Aunt Nia still hires it. Because before Eduar came home from college, no one was looking after his mother at home. That's why Emely always leaves, after Eduar leaves for college.

"What's the aunt?" Emely sat in the chair opposite Aunt Nia who was sitting in her work chair.

"Emely forgive me of it." The first sentence spoken by Aunt Nia made Emely confused. Like asking Aunt Nia what's sorry for.

Because there was confusion on Emely's face, Aunt Nia continued her words.

"The aunt had to move to Australia, the aunt's husband was transferred there so the aunt had to come along. This restaurant is already selling. " Emely has been able to catch the direction of Aunt Nia's conversation.

"So Emely fired auntie?" Ask Emely.

"I'm sorry Aunt Emely, it's actually not a dismissal but a dismissal." Maybe that's the right word according to aunt Nia because she had to lay off all employees at her restaurant including Emely. Because this restaurant will be used as a clothing warehouse by its new owner, I guess - think the information that aunt Nia got from the owner.

"The cost of an out-of-country call is aunty's expensive. Emely could not promise that Emely would often contact aunty. " Emely smiled saying so, making aunt Nia laugh.

"It's a severance paycheck for Emely." Aunt Nia took the long white envelope from inside the bag and handed it to Emely.

"It's a lot of auntie. Is this not an advantage." Emely opened the envelope and looked at the amount of money inside.

"Take it, your mother will need medicine every time. Use that money to buy your mother's medicine, as long as you're looking for a new job." Aunt Nia does know the condition of Emely's mother who has been suffering from leukemia for almost a year.

"Thank you aunt." Emely hugs Aunt Nia and is convinced by the woman.

"Why are you home at this hour, brother? " Task Eduar because usually Emely will be home at ten in the night. Now the new clock is showing at seven o'clock in the evening.

"Sister has stopped working. " Emely took a bottle of mineral water, poured it in a glass and drank it to the end.

"Sister fired? " Task Eduar full of inquires.

Emely shook.

"Sister boss will move to Australia, used to be with husband. The restaurant was sold. Mom's eating dinner deck? " Effort to change the topic because Emely was saddened by the loss of a job that had helped her family a little.

" You're not going to work?" Emely has not replied because she had to change clothes after the bathing ritual earlier. Because long waiting for a reply to a message from her lover, Rayhan also contacted Emely.

Ringing his two phones Emely also picked up a phone call from someone named Ugly . Emely's favorite call to her lover.

" Onta why wasn't my message answered? " Rayhan tells us that he called Onta his favorite call to Emely.

"I just finished taking a shower and I'm changing. " Emely explains why she didn't return Rayhan's message to him.

"Well, what a pity." Rayhan's words confused Emely.

"What a shame? " Task Emely.

"It's a pity I didn't video call from earlier." Rayhan laughed at the end. She was happy to tease Emely. Emely is always amused by the laughs Rayhan makes to comfort himself if he is in trouble.

"Even if you video call, will I pick up? Nope. " To ask and answer yourself, made Rayhan chuckle to himself.

"Why is this hour home from work? " A question to ask from now on.

"I quit my ugly job. " Emely then explained why he and other employees were dismissed from the restaurant owned by aunt Nia.

"Tomorrow after college I go and help you find a new job." Rayhan's words make Emely sparkle with pleasure.

"really ? " Task Emely to make sure.

"Yes Onta. Already eaten?" Rayhan asked who was always attentive to Emely.

" A little while." Emely who came out of her room

" Eat the Camel, it's past dinner. " It's still attention.

"How can I eat, you're still blabbering. " Emely speaking softly made Rayhan chuckle.

"Yes, yeah... Have a good meal, Ota. Remember the lotin in the vegetables. Because the Ota eats green grass instead of meat." Emely smiled at her lover's words.

"Yes bringel." Rayhan was still chuckling at her lover's annoyed reply.

"See you again." Rayhan.

"Yes, see you. " Just wanted to turn off the phone. Rayhan's still yelling at the end of the phone.

"Let me know if you want to sleep." Emely turned off the phone without answering Rayhan.

"Basic of the Camel, habit." Rayhan's grouse stared at his phone. But before going to bed Emely kept her lover informed.
