The Second Marriage

Gayatri wakes up around midnight. The atmosphere there is very quiet. He peeked out from behind the crack in the room, only the soldiers who took turns keeping busy arranging the ranks outside his room.

Cold milk and snacks are available at a table not far from the bed. Beside him was a furnace and jug. The fire furnace had not been completely extinguished. Gayatri lit the embers with dried coconut palms as fire bait. The wood burns in its milk to warm the milk in the jug.
