40. Routines

The news of Cean's return to Indonesia, finally reached Neska's hearing. There is a hard feeling to explain about this. He was willing to avoid the young man, but knowing Cean had left made him feel lost again.

Undeniably, in the girl's innermost heart, Neska was hopeful that Cean was serious about her words. But, Neska could not expect much from Cean especially she also already knew the character of the young man from her twin sister.

"If only what Brother Cean said was not a joke." Neska smiled bitterly in her position looking at the sky from the window of her apartment tonight. "But, how could Sister Cean want to be like a boy like me," he continued monologuing.

Neska is quite self-conscious, even though she still clearly remembers how Cean used to say that she considered Neska as her younger sister.

All the care that Cean had given the girl was now remembered in his mind and seemed to be circling in his cranium. Neska missed that figure. The young man who had pulled him out of the bar that Neska wasn't supposed to go to.

Neska missed that knotty smile, which once drove her to school.

Neska even suddenly misses eating bread from the store near her old apartment building - just because Cean once bought it as their first greeting. Neska always wanted to be close to the young man.

However, considering Cean's joke the other day, enough to make Neska disappointed. Why would Cean make such a joke? It was as if the feelings Neska had towards her were only considered trivial, so Cean casually made the statement of taste a game.

For this reason, Neska chose to avoid Cean. He did not want his sincere feelings to be made the material of a joke by the young man. No, he won't. Although he can't forget Cean, that doesn't mean Cean is free to play with him like this.

So, again Neska stressed in her that Cean's return to Indonesia was the best. Neska hopes she doesn't see Cean again sometime, because she's afraid that Cean will come back to say a word that hurts her feelings.

Even if fate brings them back together, Neska hopes her feelings for the young man are normal, or at least Cean has forgotten about his jokes.

He is preoccupied with work that makes it difficult to avoid and inevitably has to do it as a form of responsibility and loyalty.

One thing that Cean cannot forget is his desire to meet Neska even though it has not been realized.

Aura has also returned to her parents' residence after two full weeks in Singapore and is monitoring Rion and Neska's habits which were the main reason for coming there.

Rion himself has begun to accept reality. Although in front of Cean the other day he had spoken words of wisdom and seemed airy chest, but living it was not as easy as saying it. But, after these two Weeks, Rion realized that Neska could really be without her and she appreciated the girl's decision even though she herself was hurt.

Neska gasps when she sees Rion approaching her in the campus garden. He thought, he still took longer to avoid Rion but in fact today he was unable to dodge the greeting and the presence of Rion near him.

"Can we talk for a second?"

Neska nodded despite the hesitation. It made a classmate who had accompanied Neska there automatically retreat to give Neska and Rion space to be able to speak four eyes.

Neska was already worried that Rion would want their relationship to be resumed, but apparently Neska's worries did not apply after Rion said his first sentence.

"While we don't have a special relationship like we used to, I wish you could still accept me as a friend."

"... don't shy away from me, Nes. At least we should have a good relationship as two people who've known."

"... I don't want you to change. You can think of me as anything, ex, friend, brother, just don't think of me as your enemy that you don't even deserve to say anything to."

See, right? How good is this young man? Neska was again hit by guilt for injuring Rion. Basic himself who does not know grateful ever with a young man as good as this? It was he who did not know himself because he had been loved by Rion but was not able to reciprocate the feelings of the man with the same taste.

"sorry. I'm sorry if you feel like I'm changing and avoiding you. I did that because I didn't want to be considered using you so I decided to keep my distance."

"Does? You know, I can't possibly have such thoughts about you?"

Neska nodded, knowing that Rion always thought he was the best even though he was not that good.

"Hmm .. In the future, I will not avoid you anymore, because you are a really good person. I'm sorry, if my actions for two weeks after we split were just childish."

Rion finally smiled brightly. "It's okay, Nes. I get it, really. Anyway, I also need time to make everything again feel normal. Thank you for giving me a chance to take care of my heart these past few weeks."

"You're so nice, Rion. I hope you get a better replacement girl than me." The sentence could only be revealed in her heart because she could not speak it directly to Rion. Instead, she smiled at the young man making Rion feel calm because Neska would not avoid him again.

"What about Sister Cean?"

Neska turned to Rion, whose question this time was directed to her older brother and not the two of them anymore.

"Sir Cean? What happened to Sister Cean?" neska didn't understand.

"Don't you guys get to meet before Kak Cean goes back to Indonesia?"

"Ah, yes, we met for a while that time." Neska bowed, unable to talk to Rion about the brief incident in which Cean told her about the feelings in their last meeting at that time.

While Rion meant it, it was certainly not that meeting, because he thought Cean and Neska were meeting again after that night.

Neska shakes. "We're talking about something else. I don't want to talk about your brother anymore" he explained.

"Lho's? Wh why? You're all right, aren't you?"

"There's nothing. I don't want to talk about it anymore."

If Neska doesn't tell Rion the truth about her prejudice against Cean then this misunderstanding will continue.

And sure enough, Neska seemed to shy away from talking about it, while Rion himself could not reveal the subject because he thought Cean and Neska had met again at that time and guessed that their relationship was much better at this time.

Rion couldn't have forced Neska to tell him, right? So, he did not know if Neska still thought Cean was joking about his expression of feelings at that time. Rion thinks Cean's problem with Neska has been solved well.
