Demon Laws
Chapter 56: Frozen Forest, Monster World 2

The sky was already completely dark, the sled entered the Frozen Forest. There are only a few trees on the edge of the forest, sleds can pass through the cracks in the forest.

The way the old witch drove the incredible carriage-pulling dog took Dewey by surprise. He did not use whips or slogans like other animal tamers, but only gave simple commands, such as running, stopping, even just whistling and hand gestures. Snow dogs seem to understand the language and movements of human hands, they obey every command of the old witch.

“You didn't use the same magic as me to them, did you?” dewey asked curiously. After a few days together, Dewey likes to ask a few questions even though most of the questions will not be answered. Dewey knew that as long as he did not run away and made the old man angry, he would not treat him badly.

“What do you think?” the witch replied mockingly. “They are much more obedient than you.”

After that the sled started to slow down. The forest in front was getting narrower so the sled was difficult to move forward.

The witch stopped the sled and kicked Dewey slowly. “Down, Son. Don't just stay here. Have you never been told that the more afraid of the cold and not moving in winter, the easier it is to freeze to death?”

After Dewey stood up, the old witch looked around before saying flatly. “We stay here tonight.”

“Live here?” Dewey couldn't help but complain. “Previous small town is comfortable, you even travel to stay in the forest? I think you're in a hurry to go somewhere. If there is no plan then why did we not live in a small town before?”

“Because I like. Are you satisfied with that answer?” replied the old witch with a smile. He looked at Dewey, his tone and expression still friendly. “There is a tent inside the bag you are sitting in. If you still don't wake up, I guarantee your mouth will hurt again.”

Mouthache. The old man would order him to slap himself again! Dewey. Although intelligent, Dewey can do nothing when faced with an old man who does not understand human language and has power over it.

While cursing inwardly, Dewey stood up to open the bag and started building the tent.

In recent times, Dewey has been very skilled at building tents after training along the way.

Finally this time the old witch not only sat down and waited for Dewey to finish his task like a great master, but helped along.

Dewey glanced at the movements of the old witch. The old man took out a small bottle from inside the robe, then sprinkled the green powder evenly.

The green powder that was sprinkled around formed a large circle, protecting them both as well as the sleds and tents.

I don't know what the powder is made of. After being sown, the ice and snow around instantly melted, also emitting a faint green glow in the dark night. It looks like a ghost fire.

In addition, Dewey found that some snow dogs are afraid of this green powder. The originally docile snow dog suddenly became tense, cowering and trembling, occasionally howling miserably and fearfully.

After doing everything, the magician looked at the green circle around in satisfaction, then approached to pat some of the dog's tails with his broad and powerful palms, then chuckled. “Already, already. Take it easy, there's nothing.”

The dogs are lying down again.

After the tent was finished, Dewey approached. “What is this thing?”

“Preventing problems.” The old witch kept the bottle. He was just wearing a robe, somewhere his bottles were usually kept. Anyway once fingered, he could take out one of them.

“Trouble?”

The old witch smiled as she said, “Son, this is in the Frozen Forest. Not many trees here, but monsters. A monster you've never heard of or seen. Especially at night. Monsters like to attack prey that sleeps unguardedly. There are many adventurers who sleep at night into a monster dinner, then turn into feces the next morning.”

“Great magicians like you fear monsters too?” Dewey laughs.

“I'm not afraid.” The old witch nodded. “But the two of us in this forest are like two pieces of meat thrown into a crowd of flies, okay? It will attract a lot of monsters. Although they are not very threatening to us, coming around, coming around is quite troublesome. Besides, I told you that I should keep my magic power before arriving at my destination. Light the fire now, we'll sleep. Don't forget to do the moves I taught you, otherwise you become an ice cube in the middle of the night, I won't care.”

Dewey felt helpless. He did not want to be ordered like a robot man again so he complied.

Although his body still felt pain while twisting the stretch, Dewey knew the benefits of performing those movements so he held it in place.

The old witch looked satisfied after seeing Dewey complete the task. He took out a scroll from inside the robe, then opened it slowly.

It was a wind magic scroll. The old witch used it to create a windproof barrier around, then pointed at the tent. “Already, sleep.”

“I want to ask, what exactly is that green powder?”

“Question once? I'm afraid you can't sleep after knowing it.” The old witch grinned.

“Say,” says Dewey. “I'm a curious person. If you don't say it, I can't sleep.”

“Good. It was dragon feces.” The old witch raised her shoulders. “You don't mind lying in dragon feces, do you?”

“...”

Dragon feces?

Just deserve. There are many animals that rely on the scent of feces and urine to distinguish regions. Dragons are undoubtedly the largest and most powerful animals in the world.

Sowing dragon feces here, the other monsters must have thought there was a dragon here.

Although this method was good, Dewey shook his head, fortunately his fists did not stink.

At midnight, Dewey awakens. More precisely, waking up from the cold.

Inside the tent, the old witch slept soundly, her breathing regular. There was actually a small crystal ball hanging above the tent. The old witch was kind, using fire magic scrolls to turn the crystal ball into a heating device so that the tent became warmer.

However, at midnight, the heat on the crystal ball had disappeared. Dewey's feet are cold. He was forced to get up and open the tent, repeating the movement again in the snow.

After finishing his movements, Dewey felt warmer, his leg hands warmed up as well. He's sighing. His flexibility is getting better. The movements of the old witch were indeed effective.

“If you meet me a few years early and do that movement every day, your body won't be this weak now.” The old witch who closed her eyes suddenly said inside the tent.

Dewey was not surprised. The old man was seen sleeping soundly, but any movement was heard by him. Dewey had already confirmed this when a few nights earlier tried to escape.

“Don't expect a strong Rollin family descendant to produce offspring as weak as you.” Finished speaking, the old witch turned over and continued to sleep.

Dewey sighed, stood in the snow and looked at the night sky.

The moon has appeared. The moonlight shone on the forest and snow. The snow is beautiful.

In the forest, one two howls sounded faintly from afar. A few snow dogs slept soundly, Dewey walked sideways cautiously.

Waking up in the middle of the night, he wanted to urinate, then he looked for the roots of a large tree inside the dragon feces circle, opened his pants and threw out water, then shivered.

Listen, further north, the weather's even colder. So cold, even urinating is dangerous. In such cold weather, anyone who dares to throw water in the wild is guaranteed to have their genitals frozen.

Dewey sighed, then turned his head towards the tent. When will a day like this end?

The old man kidnapped her but did not answer any questions. Dewey already has a lot of questions. He doesn't even know why he was kidnapped.

Revenge for his student? For God's sake, other than extorting Vivian's magic equipment, Dewey treated the foolish girl quite well. While on a remote island, he also took great care of her.

If he wanted revenge, he would have suffered enough along the way. That should be enough, right?

What about blackmailing the Rollin family?

Dewey chuckles. That witch must be an extraordinary person. Although the Rollin family was in power, he did not necessarily consider it great. So, what else does he want?

Don't you think Chris is locked up on a remote island? But the old man must have known more than Dewey. What's the point of him kidnapping her?

Dewey thought for a while and found no answer. When he went back to sleep …

A voice in the dark forest shocked him.

Shit man!

Dewey jerks. His spiritual power was extremely strong right now, he was extremely sensitive to the movements around. He spent a lot of time in the military camp next to the castle so he instantly knew that it was the sound of arrows upon hearing it.

Then, a human scream suddenly sounded.

A roar followed by a scream at night, then there were more screams.

Far to the northeast, Dewey faintly saw red lights flashing in the darkness as if a fire had broken out.

There was a faint rumbling sound, then the sound of human footsteps within the forest. His voice sounded very panicked, like running away.

Dewey frowned, then crouched down and heard in silence.

One ... two .. three .. there seems to be five or six foot steps. Their breaths were wheezing, running frantically towards him.

A roar rang out again, it seemed like a monster roar, then a scream sounded again. It looks like monsters are chasing people.

The sound of footsteps decreases by one, surely someone dies.

Shortly after, the sound of footsteps arrived in front. Dewey saw that in the forest, four people ran over. They wore leather jackets with leather armor, holding the remaining half machete.

The backmost guy is the most awful. Half her body was red, either her own blood or her partner's blood. He holds a bow, runs while shouting, “Run! Run on! It has come! Came already! He killed the captain! Fast run!”

The person in front had already passed through a row of trees and looked at Dewey. He suddenly shouted, “There are people here.”

Before Dewey spoke, the four snow dogs behind him were already standing and barking at the person who came behind Dewey.
