Abu and Umi were silent for a moment and looked at each other as I asked about the man I could marry. After sighing Abu said, “What you should ask is if there are still young men of noble descent who want to get married? Or rather is there still a young man who has the same bloodline as us today? In our village let alone let alone a line of offspring, which is not a line of offspring only does not exist. Even your cousin who is your age is no longer in the village. They were transferred to the school by their parents. Only your late brother would not listen to Abu. Do not think of Abu's words, Abu only wants to subtly refuse and that reason is the only thing Abu can use to reject them.” Obviously Abu to me.
“So, Cut can marry a man who is not ‘Teuku’?” I'm trying to find certainty.
“There is a young man who is not ‘Teuku’ who wants to propose to you besides the Khalid?” I smiled at Abu. Abu's question was very telling to me because the fact that there was no other man to ask me but Khalid, uh, I forgot someone. A year later, there was no news from him. How is he doing now? ....Why am I thinking about him? Ah... This is because of hearing the love story of the girls in the village of Leut Man. I'll think about him. “Rendra..”
“Mammm..” Eh.. I called Rendra the big one who told Rendra small. I smiled as I watched her eat well.
Afternoon in Sagoe village...
The atmosphere of the village is no longer as scary as before. The army posts were everywhere and the situation now was also quite calm. For the first time I took little Rendra for a walk around the village accompanied by Mae. Rendra who can walk is certainly very happy to be able to walk far without being carried. On the road past an army post that was close to my study hall first. I'm currently on the street in front of the house of the late Miftah.
Miftah's mother called when she saw me pass her house. “Cut, where are you going? Stop by first!” I turned my foot into Miftah's yard. I glanced at his grave for a moment while offering a prayer for him in my heart. “Mak Wa, Mae ask for guava fruit yes!” the child immediately climbed a guava tree in front of Miftah's house.
When my village is not as bad as it is now, I often eat guava with spice rujak with Miftah. We told her funny things that would shake our own stomachs. Now, it's all gone. Just a memory like the one I am currently recalling the late Miftah in the usual place we used to sit first.
“Mak Wa, how are you? Sorry, Cut rarely visit.”
“As you can see, Cut. Alhamdulillah Mak Wa sama Pak Wa still given the same health of God. Already grown up son of Ilham huh?”
“Alhamdulillah, Mak Wa. His mouth does not stop chewing.”
We talked for about an hour and then went back to traveling around the village. I carry a plastic bag that Mae has picked. While he walked while holding Rendra. I really enjoy walking like this. If Miftah were still alive, it would be right next to me right now. And we would laugh all the way while telling funny things.
We walked quite a distance and it was a little twilight until I invited Mae to come home.
“Cut, come here first!” I looked up, and Jannah's mother called me from her house.
I entered the courtyard of Jannah's house. A glimpse of Jannah made me think back to what she did in her life. “Yes, Mak Wa. What's up?”
“Sign in a minute, anyone wants Mak Wa say.”
I entered Jannah's house with Rendra and when Mae wanted to enter was immediately detained by Jannah's mother at the door. “Little children should not hear the talk of parents! You go home, you'll be worried. Mak Wa wants to talk a little bit about Cut.”
After Mae came home, Jannah's mother came in and closed the door. I was a little surprised and started to feel something strange. “Mak Wa, what's up? Cut can not be long later Abu search.”
“Someone wants to meet you, Cut.”
“Who?” My toot.
“Come, Mak Wa inter!” Mak Wa took Rendra in her cradle and took me outside the kitchen door. From the kitchen Jannah's father came out and his face was already unfriendly. I want to run but Rendra's in Mother Jannah's arms. “Mak Wa, where are we going?”
“You just follow us without asking much. Or do you want to see Rendra in pain? Now, walk away and don't even try to scream or you'll lose Rendra!”
I've guessed where the end of this trip will be. It's not my first time going through it however, I didn't expect that the one who would do this right now was the parent of one of my unfamiliar friends.
It was getting darker and the azan magrib was reverberating but we were still walking in the palm grove. “Yes Allah, am I now walking towards my death? If so, forgive me my sins, O Allah. If I may ask, if this is my death, then save Rendra. Let him live to heal the grief of my parents. O Allah, forgive me my sins. Strengthen my faith at the end of my life, allow my tongue to speak Your name at the end of my life. O Allah, put me to death in the state of Husnul Khatimah.” After saying a prayer in my heart, I continued with prayer beads that lead me to death.
I thought about Abu who must be worried now because I haven't come home. The journey was exhausting, I could no longer walk. Various animal sounds accompanied our journey. My leg was in pain from a twig and Rendra was already uncomfortable. He started crying and calling me. Jannah's mother gave Rendra to me until this journey grew heavier because of walking in the dark while carrying Rendra who was no longer a baby.
Moonlight illuminated our journey through the forest and around the hill. Rendra came back fussy and it looked like she was getting hungry. Jannah's father gave me a banana. It seems they have prepared everything for today. Jannah's father also gave her a bottle of drinking water.
“Mak Wa, can stop for a moment!” I glared at them but it seemed to be in vain. Jannah's mother continued to walk in front while Jannah's father walked behind me with a machete in his hand.
Rendra had calmed down because he had gotten a banana. He kept chewing in my sling. I take small breaths while walking. Is not the message to the Prophet to bring blessing. I hope for my very short life. Prayers continue to flow in my mind. “Yes Allah, with the blessing of my dress on the Prophet Muhammad, protect me and Rendra from those who have evil intentions.” My inner.
We continued walking even though we were hobbled, even Rendra had fallen asleep in my arms. One thing I know clearly, if we've been walking all night. The sun is slowly showing its light.
We kept walking under the trees that looked lush. I also heard the plane passing over us several times. Our position running under the trees makes people who are on the plane can not see us even though the plane is flying in a low state.
“Yes Allah, protect us..”.
