CLIMBING THE PINNACLE OF MARTIAL ARTS

CLIMBING THE PINNACLE OF MARTIAL ARTS
Chapter 17: Facing the Demonic Beast

It was already afternoon and Ye Feng had already started walking towards the track that would take him back to the Pure Battallion pavilion.

Ye Feng had only been given three days off, so he had to return before tomorrow morning, otherwise, there would be harsh punishments waiting for him.

Ye Feng felt he had plenty of time and was confident that he could return before it started to get dark. After all, he was only a hundred miles away, not far away.

In his heart he held great anticipation with regards to the third page of the black book. Thinking of the outcome that would bring him later, made him happy and steadied his pace.

Amidst his return journey, Ye Feng heard an unexpected and piercing cry not far from his position. Sound of the sound of a child screaming/crying mixed.

When he heard this, he stopped his footsteps and sharpened his ears. Immediately after, his face changed and Ye Feng quickly ran towards the source of the sound.

As he listened to the voice, he recognized it as the voice of the father and son pair from the previous night. And the sound of the child's cry came from the boy.

The two of them might have experienced some sort of trouble, or why they had made such a fuss. Last night they gave Ye Feng some rations of their food, even if it was only for their good, how could he ignore their current problems?

As he ran towards them, the father's roar became even more desperate and the boy became even more quiet.

Ye Feng's face gradually hardened and he started to have a bad premonition.

By the time Ye Feng arrived, father's roar was no longer heard and he only saw a dark cave on a high hill. On the side of the cave in the middle of the bushes, entangled between several cobwebs was a silver bow. It's the same bow the boys had last night before.

Without thinking, Ye Feng threw his things to the ground, raising his senses and directly plunged into that dark and sinister cave.

Although the light inside the cave was not bright, it was still enough to be seen.

When he looked around, Ye Feng was surprised to find that the cave was covered in a net. On the wall and the ground, they cross each other with varying net thickness. Layer by layer, the road ahead was blocked by many nets.

Not only that, the cave was also damp. Water dripped with a steady speed, and when Ye Feng took a step forward, his feet sank to the ground.

Strengthening his nerves, Ye Feng walked in with a muffled breath sound. He saw a large, human-sized cocoon spinning from the spider thread in a cocoon-like state. At the top, it revealed a human face, the face belonged to the burly man from the previous night.

Worried, Ye Feng ran over to the trapped hunter, his worries eased after learning that he was just unconscious.

Hearing Ye Feng call out to him, the hunter groggyly got up and called out weakly, “Save the child! My son was dragged further inside. Please, please save my son! ”

"Get in?" Ye Feng was shocked as he struggled to free the hunter from the net. Unfortunately the net was too powerful for his current strength, being unable to break it he could only give up for a while. Diving into the hole, he chased after the boy.

From behind, the hunter warned: “Be careful! It was a Demon Beast! ”

When he heard those words, Demon Beast, Ye Feng's heart was pounding. These demonic beasts were not like ordinary wild beasts; they liked to slaughter. They were true ferocious beasts and Ye Feng was no match even if he had to face the lowest among them with his current strength.

In the Black Wind Mountains, the reason why the first thirty miles were considered a safe zone, was precisely because there were no ferocious beasts. Unfortunately, something appeared. It was completely beyond one's expectations.

His son was in a similar situation to his father, encased in a cocoon suspended in the air by a spider web that was larger in size.

On the boy's side, there was a huge flower-patterned spider, sucking on a straw. A straw was inserted into the boy's arm, and you could clearly see dark red blood flowing out of the straw and into the spider's mouth.

On the ground of the cave on this hillside, there were various bones of all kinds of beasts that were piled up like mountains. One could only imagine the amount of time spent by the Demonic Spider Monsters staying here and the number of human souls and weak animals that had become their prey.

Ye Feng did not have the free time to think about the abilities of these spiders and form a proper plan. Every second he delayed, increasing the chances of this little boy ascending straight to heaven. After a moment of silence, he suddenly advanced forward.

The spider was patterned with an unusually large flower, not expecting to be disturbed at this point. Shortly after Ye Feng advanced, a large amount of power was applied to the side of the Demon Spider, and a large hole was torn in the web. The flower-patterned spider falls with Feng Feng (Ye Feng). The little boy also fell through the hole and fell to the ground.

Being attacked so suddenly caused the flower-patterned spider to become enraged. With eight long feathered feet stomping on the ground, and all his eyes were focused on Feng Feng.

Even before he could get up, he was dropped a single blow from the flower-patterned spider.

Ye Feng growled, his steel hands flew out and landed right in the throat of the spider. This momentarily startled him, Ye Feng took the opportunity to kick the spider, sending it flying.

With a single scroll, Ye Feng got up and crouched down, his eyes focused on the movement of the flower-patterned spider.

After that little confrontation, Ye Fengs beating heart had calmed down a little. For a demon beast rank alone was not that high, otherwise he would even be able to fight against it. Most likely it was only a demonic beast from the first world.

Yet even if it was only a first world demonic beast, considering Ye Feng's current strength was still a difficult opponent to deal with.

As both sides measured their opponents, the flower-patterned spider began to show signs of impatience, and not only him, Ye Feng started to show off his strength as well. It seemed that the boy had lost a lot of blood, and was showing signs of poisoning. If the current situation could not be resolved quickly, then there would be no time to save him.

Suddenly, the flower-patterned spider opened its mouth to spit out a long thread of gem silk. It spat towards Ye Feng, signaling the start of his attack.

Previously, Ye Feng had learned about the durability of this thread, so naturally he was wary of being trapped by it. At once, he rolled to the side and dodged the attack.

Flower-patterned spiders don't show much of a reaction at dodging and continue spitting out other pieces of thread. By the time Ye Feng noticed the spider was not aiming at him, it was too late, the entire cave had been covered by these webs of threads, closing its exit and trapping it inside.

"Does that force me to fight to the death?" Ye Feng laughed at the thought, the fear he had previously overcome was quickly unleashed by the arrogance seeping out of his bones, pumping adrenaline through his body.

With the current situation, if he did not kill that spider, he would not be able to leave. Since it had come to this moment, he could only fight to the bitter end; whether you were the one who would die or I would die.

Time passed, with Ye Feng firmly planted both of his feet on the ground, he ran towards the flower-patterned spider. Out flying a thread of net, luckily Ye Feng was on guard, so how could he not avoid it?

After dodging these three threads in a row, he finally closed the distance between them. But before he could throw a punch, the flower-patterned spider raised its two front legs and pointed them at him.

Ye Feng could only raise his arm to block the spider's front leg from penetrating his arm.

Ye Feng roared in pain, his blood boiling. Not only did he not panic, but he also had an indescribable feeling of excitement and anticipation in his heart. All of his bones were clanking together causing a warm feeling to pass through his entire body.
