CLIMBING THE PINNACLE OF MARTIAL ARTS

CLIMBING THE PINNACLE OF MARTIAL ARTS
Chapter 15: Finding Medicine in the Mountain

After his daily training was completed, he began sweeping out which since absorbing the golden skeleton previously could only be completed within an hour. After finishing sweeping, he dashed into the Contribution Hall.

Although Ye Feng had decided to go to the mountains to find the herbal ingredients, he had no knowledge of herbology. He had only heard of the Three Chaos Leafed Spirit Flower and the Dead Grass of the Jedi Tree, he had no idea what it looked like.

Most of his preparations for his trip to the Black Wind Mountain had already been prepared. To avoid an embarrassing situation, Ye Feng rushed to the Contribution Hall to write down the appearance of the herbs he was about to look for.

Originally he was planning to have Treasurer Meng teach him, he did not expect Treasurer Meng to give him a book on herbs instead.

Looking at the book, Ye Feng discovered that he had an introduction to herbs, medical properties, habitats and their illustrations. It gives a sense of disappointment to those who read it. Because it only contained information about ordinary level herbs and nothing on high level herbs, but it was quite suitable for Ye Feng's current needs.

Just as practitioners were classified into different ranks, so were medicinal herbs, weapons, and medicinal pellets (pills). They were divided into, Ordinary Class, Earth Class, Heaven Class, Mystery Class, Spirit Class, and Saint Class. Each Class is then divided into lower, middle and peak levels.

Luckily the herbs Ye Feng needed were lower grade herbs so it was all in the books. And since they were low class, their grades were not so high.

After leaving the Contribution Hall, Ye Feng went to the General Affairs Office. After all he was still a sweeper in the Pure Battallion pavilion and this journey of tracing to the Black Wind Mountain would take over a day. He had to ask permission from his job.

The Office of General Affairs did not make it difficult. They gave Ye Feng a three-day leave, with his obligations taken care of before he left ….

Black Wind Mountain was only twenty miles away from the Pure Battalion on foot. Since it was not far away, Ye Feng often went there to forage, making him quite familiar with the terrain there.

On this mountain there are many different plants. But since this was his first time collecting herbs, Ye Feng made sure to be fully prepared. Carrying water, food supplies, a shovel, and his bag, he then set off.

Rushing over, Ye Feng came to the Black Wind Mountain and observed the area. The mountain was like a prehistoric monster, lying between heaven and earth. Forcing endless eyes that could be seen, the mountain with its lush forest, jagged ledges proudly stood on the horizon. Standing there, Ye Feng could feel a gust of cool breeze piercing through his hair.

Within the Black Wind Mountain alone were many ferocious beasts. Some high-level ferocious beasts could even make martial practitioners flee without a chance of victory. So generally when people travel to the mountains, they will not go too deep. The first thirty miles are classified as safe zones, the next ten miles are dangerous zones. And that area around it, is a life-threatening zone. Basically the deeper you go, the more dangerous of course.

Since Ye Feng was only looking for ordinary low-level herbs, he did not need to go too far. So of course he did not have to worry about his safety as he would only look for herbs within the safe zone.

It was currently still in the early hours of the morning and Ye Feng was trying to recall whether he had found the herb on his previous trip to the mountain. But it didn't matter whether he had it or not, because he was ready this time to find them and was equipped with the knowledge from his book.

Thinking back, Ye Feng remembered that there were many potential plant places. In the current situation, he did not even know the location of the medicinal plant he wanted to find.

But filled with anticipation, Ye Feng followed a familiar path to the Black Wind Mountain.

After half an hour, Ye Feng saw his first harvest hidden in the bushes next to his path, it was a group of Li Chi/Sharp medicinal herbs. To harvest them, Ye Feng put them in his bag and then continued his search, thinking to himself this was a good start. Walking down the street, Ye Feng saw various vegetation scattered about, and the memories of the forest came back, informing him of its location. With his knowledge of the Mountain, obtained from hunting, he could accurately create a mental map of where he was in relation to the Holy Fort, in order to prevent him from getting lost. By nightfall, Ye Feng had gathered four types of herbs.

When looking for herbs, naturally it is very difficult, not to mention that many people like to come here to collect herbs, making it harder to find them. Even though Ye Feng had only found four herbs, he was still quite satisfied.

Unfortunately Ye Feng did not need these four potions, in order to worsen their grades only at Ordinary Grade, lower level as well. However if he wanted to take it back, he could exchange it for contribution points, so they would be worth it.

This area was very strange, because all of its abundant vegetation had no living existence. Especially for an area of about thirty feet around the medicinal plant area, the soil was completely dead and nothing was growing, not even for weeds.

Although in the middle of this desert, there were three bunches of grass. They fluttered in the wind, Ye Feng saw that they were brown, and thought it was just necrosis. But this is just the natural color of the grass.

After looking at it in more detail, Ye Feng recognized them as a kind of potion, and with a sigh of relief he rushed over. With a wide smile, he quickly dug it all up.

A short while later, these three herbs had been collected.

As he held onto this potion, Ye Feng took out the herbology book Treasurer Meng had given him before and examined it to see where he had seen it. They are indeed the Dead Grass of the Jedi Tree. Illustration, growth, and the environment all fit together.

The Dead Grass of the Jedi Tree grows from a dead tree, which makes it easy to find. Basically in the mountains, any place that has dead land, you can find it growing nearby.

Carefully, Ye Feng placed the grass in his bag and took the water and his food and then looked for a place to eat and rest.

This time when he entered the mountain range, his main goal was to find the Three Chaos Leafy Spirit Flower and the Dead Grass of the Jedi Tree, now that he had found the Dead Grass of the Jedi Tree, he needed to shift his focus to the Three Chaos Leafy Spirit Flower. Not only did he need to find the Three Leafed Spirit Flower of Triple Chaos but he also needed that large sum to decide that he should double his efforts.

Even though it was already night and the sun had set. This was of course an uncomfortable time to search for potions so Ye Feng decided to find a place to rest and continue tomorrow.

Earlier when he entered the mountains, he never stayed overnight, but as the saying goes “Even. On that note, he naturally knew the dangers of mountains at night.

(TLN: I think it's pretty obvious. But for those who are confused, it means that even if you have not experienced some things, you should have knowledge about it.) Humans should even edit comments, without a break for the wicked.

After he found a nearby tree, Ye Feng climbed up and looked for a suitable place to sleep, after finding a place he immediately put down and closed his eyes.

(ED: Trees are very difficult to find in the forest on the mountain).

At one thirty in the morning, Ye Feng had not slept, so he took out the black book and opened page three. With the mind, incense burners float.

This was also a bit of a mystery Ye Feng had solved about the black book. Anything stored in it could be summoned and returned at will. It was all a storage book, and the burner had obviously been put there before so this function was not surprising anymore.

(TL: Our MCs are not very smart. This is a storage book, if you can pick up the items, why can't they be put back in? How does the burner end in the first place? A mystery ... ⁇ _ ⁇ ).

What Ye Feng did not understand was that aside from incense burners, other things could not be stored in books. This made him wonder, was the black book a soul stone? Does a soul stone usually have a limit on what it should accept and reject?.

After playing with the black book for a while, he quickly fell asleep. He had just spent this entire day walking around the mountain.

After a peaceful night, Ye Feng woke up early the next day and practiced tempering body notes for half an hour. In order to gather a good harvest, he had to work very hard for the next two days. He also felt that he was on the verge of a breakthrough, not only did he feel that his atmosphere was at the maximum limit, he also felt that his body had reached the limit. Ye Feng only needed a final push to breakthrough.
