Chasing Stars
Restless and Restless

WHEN Laura was half conscious, for some time she saw a row of white light on it.

"The victim hit and ran. Womens. About twenty. Right leg is badly injured." Laura heard the voice of a woman beside her. Laura's gaze shifted to the voice. The woman next to him was wearing a white coat. Looking at Laura's open eyes, the woman approached.

"Do you remember your name?" Ask patiently.

".....Lau..." Laura tried to speak loudly, but her throat seemed to be suffocating.

The woman nodded. "Okay, Laura. You just had an accident. You're gonna be fine. You hear?"

The woman's voice grew slower. Laura said weakly. "Ma.ma.ma.." After that Laura fainted.

Shortly after, the female doctor next to Laura examined her, then began to give orders to one of the sisters. "His leg injury is too severe. Call Dr. Riswan now. "Suster was ordered straight out of the examination room to call Riswan's doctor.

The female doctor then exited the room, there was an old man there. "Sir, do you know the patient?"

The old man nodded. "I don't know, doctor. I saw him lying on the highway. So I called an ambulance. This is the lady's bag. Sorry, doc. I still have a need. I have to go."

The doctor told the nurse to ask for information from the father, then opened the patient's bag, took out the cellphone in it and saw the list of names of the last contact to call him. When he found the name *mama* on the list, the doctor immediately called him.

"Hello, Laura. What's up?" A woman's voice.

"Sorry, mom. I'm doctor sandra. I'm a doctor in the central hospital. Your daughter just had an accident. You better come to the hospital."

There was a hysterical scream on the other end of the phone. "How's it going, doc? Is Laura, is it okay?"

"I don't know for sure. For the time being your daughter is still being cared for." Doctor Sandra took a slow breath. Telling bad news to the family is not one of the activities he likes. "You need to come as soon as possible to the central hospital."

"I'll be here soon. Doctor..please..save my daughter, "voice from across the phone.

"I'll try, ma'am." Doctor Sandra hung up the phone, then ordered another nurse. "Please let me know if Laura's relatives, our hit-and-run victims, came to the hospital. And please give the patient's bag to them."

"Well, doctor," said the nurse, taking Laura's bag from her hand.

*********************************

Luki took a sip of the beer she opened half an hour ago. After reading all the birthday cards for her, she needed a drink. Maybe tomorrow he should talk to his stepmother.

Luki sighs. His feeling is not calm. He put down the beer. He got up from his chair, then went into his room and took the car keys. He won't delay until tomorrow. Today he also wants to talk to his stepmother.

Arriving in front of his car, Luki frowned in surprise. There's a white sheet of paper in there. Luki opened the paper.ain times not only your boyfriend will experience the *accident*. Let's just say it's a warning because you have dared to challenge me.

Dragon.

Luki squeezed the paper. He doesn't understand what it means. ("Daughter? I don't have a boyfriend. So, who does he mean?") Thought Luki. When he was about to get into his car, Luki just woke up. Last week, he hit a dragon-tattooed thug. Luki's breathing stopped.

Suddenly Luki's phone rang. There's a phone coming in. Luki.

"Luki!" Shouted papa panicking. "Laura accident. Now papa and Helen are on their way to the central hospital."

Luki stopped her car suddenly. Laura. Laura is meant by Dragon.

Breathing gasps. He felt the same way as when his mother died. Emptiness and sadness. He forced his mind to stay focused and drove his car as fast as possible to the hospital.

Doctor Sandra tried to calm down Charles Rafael and Helen who were in a panic.

"Your daughter is in the operating room" Sandra explained calmly. "Doctor Riswan is the best orthopedic surgeon in this hospital. He will try to save your daughter.

Doctor Sandra saw Laura's mother crying, while Charles Rafael hugged his wife's shoulder without being able to hide his sadness.

"Thank you, doctor." Charles Rafael tried to smile.

"I'll be back if there's any news. You both need to be stoic," doctor Sandra tried to calm down.

"Thank you." said Helen slowly.

Doctor Sandra smiled, then left the two behind. Ten minutes later, Luki saw her father and stepmother crying.

"How is he doing?" ask Luki to panic.

Papa explained," Laura is in surgery. Still have to wait for the next news.

Luki was sitting limp next to her stepmother. Hours passed without news. Papa went back and forth in front of the operating room door impatiently. Her stepmother, after crying for two hours, now stopped, and fell silent as if she had no energy to do anything.

Luki clenched her hands until her knuckles turned white. He did this to Laura. All this was his fault, because he was too arrogant and did not care about the feelings of others. His act of beating a thug has resulted in a tragic accident. To his sister. Who for a few days was trying to persuade Luki to accept her mother.

And during that time anyway, Luki rejected him without caring about Laura's feelings. Now, his sister is lying on the operating table. His life threatened. Luki did not want their last words to be marked with anger. ("You must live, Laura") she asked in her heart.("I want you to forgive me. I'll do whatever you want. I just want you to live").

The operating room lights have been extinguished. A doctor came out of the operating room door.

"Right now your daughter's condition is stable" doctor Riswan explained calmly.

Luki breathed a sigh of relief. Laura still survives.

"I've had surgery to repair the damage to his right leg" Riswan said. "I need to see the development of your daughter's right foot in a few days. If there is no infection, I am optimistic that your daughter can recover. Only, your daughter needs physical therapy for her legs in order to walk again. Your daughter is young, I'm sure she can make a full recovery."

Charles thanked Riswan many times. Two sisters pushed the bed where Laura lay. Luki approached the bed. She saw her sister unconscious with white bandages wrapped around her head, legs, and hands. His hands were filled with intravenous drips and blood transfusions.

Seeing her daughter's bruised face, Helen began to cry again. She looked at Laura to the intensive care room. He insisted on staying there all night looking after Laura.

When a nun asked Helen to wait for Laura outside the room, Helen would not move on. Charles Rafael called the head doctor of the central hospital, one of his relatives, and asked that his family have access to be in intensive care for as long as possible.

For two days and two nights Laura was unconscious. On the third day, when she was awakening, Laura saw the sad face of her mother. His hand was about to touch her, but the unbearable pain made her sleep again.

Luki can't stay him. He wants the thug who hit Laura to be arrested. Nope. He wants the thug battered in his hands. Wait for. That's not enough. He wanted the thug to feel the same pain that Laura felt. Luki calls the police and delivers Dragon's threatening letter to a police inspector. According to the inspector, Dragon has been the target of the police for a long time, but it is difficult to be arrested because of the lack of evidence.

Luki asks the police inspector to call her if she knows where Dragon is. Luki wouldn't let the person who had harmed her sister get away with it.

Laura's recovery was slow, but by the sixth day, Laura could already be transferred to the usual care ruanag. Now he can wake up more than six hours a day, even though his body is exhausted.

Laura was happy to see Luki visiting her. Last afternoon Luki clasped her hand and smiled softly. Laura smiled back at him. Mama and papa unceasingly took turns caring for Laura. Laura still can't talk much. His body is still heavily influenced by anti-pain medications.

When she opened her eyes again, Laura saw Luki asleep on the bench near her bed. "Lu.ki," he said slowly.

Luki instantly woke up hearing her name on the call. "Laura, are you okay? You need anything?"

Laura gulped and tried to speak. "Well..."

Luki took a glass of water on the table. Slowly he helped Laura drink through the straws in the glass. After her thirst was gone, Laura looked at Luki again. "You've been looking after me all night?"

Luki nodded.

"I'm sorry I had to be honest...." Laura smiled briefly. "But you look like a bum who hasn't had a bath for a week."

Luki laughed off. "You can joke around." Luki clasped Laura's hand. "I'm sorry, Laura. All because of my mistakes."

Laura nodded slowly. "I had an accident. It's not your fault."

Luki insisted. "The one who hit you, you saw his face?"

"Yes" said Laura slowly.

Luki immediately took a photo from her briefcase. "Did this guy hit you?"

Laura squinted her eyes to look at the photo Luki gave her. "I think so. I remember there was a picture of a dragon tattoo on his hand."

"Good." Luki smiled with satisfaction. "I'll make him pay for what he did to you. Sorry, Laura."

"I don't understand." Laura looked at Luki in confusion. "Why do you have to deal with the guy who hit me? Let the police take care of it."

Luki. "I have to make sure Dragon doesn't hurt anyone else. He hit you to give me a warning. Sorry, Laura. I really feel guilty for you. Because of me you've become like this."

Laura pressed the button to raise the head of the bed. "I had an accident, Luki. Why do you feel guilty?"

Luki sits on Laura's bed and begins to recount the events of two weeks ago, when Dragon crashed his car outside the pub, Luki beat him up, then hit Dragon's car again.

Laura heard Luki's words without interrupting. After Luki finished explaining, Laura raised her hand to touch Luki's face. "You don't know," he said with a soft look. "You didn't know that those thugs would come to take revenge on you. It wasn't your fault, Luki. I'm sure the people who do evil will get their reward."

"I can't take it. I won't be able to forgive that person, Laura," Luki insisted.

"Hate won't make you feel better, Luki." Laura took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "good. If you can't forgive him, that's your business. But, don't do anything to him. Let the authorities do it. Please, Luki. For me. Will you do this for me?"

"Right now, I can't forgive myself for harming you" Luki said sadly.

"I forgive you," said Laura sincerely.

"Why?" Ask Luki. "Why is it so easy for you to forgive me?"

"The answer is simple." Laura looked at Luki gently. "Because you're my family.

Families forgive each other. Unconditional."

Luki smiled. "Even though I still can't make my rice taste less."

Laura scolded. "So you think chasing after the guy who beat me up and beat him up is gonna make you feel less guilty?"

"Maybe." Luki shrugged her shoulders.

Laura remained silent. His eyes closed back. "If you beat up that thug," he said slowly before taking a break. "You're good with him. As my brother, you should be better than that."

Luki looked at Laura who was fast asleep not long after. He wrapped his sister and sat pensively thinking about the words.
