At half-seven in the morning Bian arrived in front of Bima's house and found Emi standing on a porch leaning against a white antique pole. It didn't take long Emi was on the bonnet of a Bian motorcycle.
"Come, hunt the road," patted Bian on the shoulder.
"Patience, why should you hurry? Hoam... Still half seven, mi."
Bian yawned, he rubbed his slightly wet eyes. To get to half-seven, Bian had to wake up earlier than before. The weather this morning was also a bit cloudy, Bian was still a little sleepy."
"Bring me breakfast too, right?"
"No. Breakfast in the school cafeteria" Emi replied.
"Ah, the stingy Emi. Breakfast doang, usually also always bring," Bian whistle that turns the direction of the motorbike and slide into the streets that are not too crowded vehicles.
"Bi?"
"What?"
"My mood is not good anymore so do not talk first, which is there later I bite you," Emi warned.
"Yes.., but if the mood is better it must be a story."
"Yes." Yeah."
Bian didn't ask any more, he knew very well how Emi was. If it is time and want to tell a story without being asked Emi will talk. Emi does not like to be forced especially if in a bad mood.
They don't eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Nasi uduk sold on the side of the road is the second choice. Seeing Emi who also took breakfast made Bian sure that something must have happened while at home.
Ekkkc...
"Ih, what a slob, Mi."
"That's not a slob. It was a sign that I was full and enjoyed the food. Huh... Finally the world looks bright after my stomach is filled."
"Then look at a lot of people, Mi."
"Yes... Da... Pardon?"
Bian paid for the two servings of nasi uduk that they ate and continued their journey to school.
....
In his room Bima had just finished taking a bath and went downstairs to have breakfast first before getting dressed at work. Bima only uses casual trousers and white t-shirts in line with the color of her pants.
As he went down the stairs Bima looked towards the door of Emi's closed room. Instantly Bima recalled the incident last night which led to Emi slamming the door of her room.
"I ate some bread, Mom."
Ibu Sri who was about to open the plate for Bima fried rice paused her intention.
"He hasn't come out of his room yet?"
"Emi's? He's gone, sir. Half-seven had left, picked up his usual friend."
"Dian?"
"Yes, sir. Emi also had not had breakfast earlier, bring provisions also not. He said he had breakfast in the school cafeteria with his friend. There's an unfinished task at work maybe so go early."
Bima ate the bread that had been smeared with peanut butter with her eyes fixed on the chair that usually sat Emi.
As usual, the dining table was quiet with no Emi sound.
....
Just arriving in the classroom, Emi was already grumbling because her school skirt was torn. The skirt got stuck on a nail that was on one side of the table. Somehow Emi was not aware of it and did not realize it until she heard the sound of tears when she was about to sit.
The tear in Emi's skirt was quite long and right on her thigh. Bian who knew it immediately advised Emi to replace with a new skirt.
"Ask a new skirt to the business order, Mi. Surely they still have to die" suggested Bian.
"A free one so ask? No need, let's put it this way," refused Emi covered the torn skirt.
"It's impossible if you sit in a chair. If there's a teacher who tells you to come forward, how about it?"
"The problem, here!"
Emi put the rest of the money she had onto the table by hitting her hand on the table.
"50 thousand. If I buy a new skirt for the next two days I don't have any more pocket money. I'm also confused why the snacks in the school cafeteria are expensive."
Bian smiled looking at Emi's annoyed face. Their school is a private school, where the students are dominated by enough families. Of course, the quality and price of snacks and food in the cafeteria will be a little more expensive when compared to other schools.
"Wait here and don't go anywhere" reminded Bian who ran out of Emi.
A few minutes later, Bian returned with a package in his hand.
"Here," thrust the parcel in her hand at Emi.
Emi accepted it and opened the package. Emi smiled looking at Bian who was already sitting in his chair.
"Thank you, Bi."
"The rush to the bathroom is not too many people yet."
Emi walked towards the bathroom, covering her skirt with the package Bian gave her. Emi immediately replaced her skirt with a new one but the new skirt was a little short of the one she usually wears.
Emi went back to class and found that there were already a lot of people there.
"Bian, the skirt is a little short. The shortness is like what Lisa wears" whispered Emi.
"The problem is just that size there is, Mi. It is not short, but it can still be forgiven. Wear it today instead of wearing a ripped one?"
"Yes, yeah."
Emi stuffed her torn skirt into the bag, thinking if later she could ask Sri's mother to drive her to the tailor. Even if not, Emi will keep it because after all in also still have other school skirts at home.
During the lesson hours Emi was only in class and snacked on Febi. Emi could not focus on the lesson because she thought about Bima's speech last night.
The lesson hours ended with the cheers of the students when they heard the bell ringing. Bian immediately embraces Emi walking towards the motor park.
"Shortly, patiently?"
Emi has a little trouble getting on the bike because of her short skirt.
"Yes, Mi. I've always been patient with you, that's what you often bring."
"Udah, come on."
Upon arrival at home, Bian first invites Emi to lunch and then study.
Bian's lips moved incessantly explaining their subject matter today. Huh... Bian was like a tutor where Emi was his protege.
"understand, right? If you understand let's get straight into the matter."
"Dian?"
"Em, what? Understand no?"
"Dian?"
"What?"
"Dians... Hua.... Hix... Bian..."
Bian was confused because Emi suddenly cried. Bian was worried about making a mistake he was unaware of.
"Why cry? I don't have any bad talk or anger about you. Don't cry, don't cry."
"Dians... Hix... Om the evil Bima... He's evil, Bian..."
Bian was a little calm because it was definitely not because he Emi was crying.
But hearing Emi mention Bima made Bian curious.
"What's wrong, Mi? Om Bima what are you? You're in angrurin?"
Emi nodded her head while continuing to cry near Bian.
Emi recounted last night's incident to Bian with nothing to miss. Bian Emi feels like she can be herself. Laughing, crying, pouting and anything he never showed Bima.
Hearing Emi's story, of course, Bian was upset but what could he do other than sigh.
"If it is mending from now on lupain om Bima. Don't cry because he doesn't care about you? You better learn well for yourself and your mother. Don't think about him anymore, okay?"
Emi nodded her head again. Although no longer crying, Emi's sad face is still very visible to Bian.
"Continue learning now still want to continue?" ask Bian doubtfully.
"So on, Bi."
"Would you date Bian on his birthday?" ask Bian again to ascertain the purpose of learning Emi.
"No. Learn to be smart and proud mother," Emi replied without hesitation.
