Gendis POV
A week has passed since the announcement of my graduation, my daily life is just at home and helping grandma do homework. That's all I can do to help lighten the burden my grandmother carried
When I was sitting relaxing in the house with my grandmother, my neighbor suddenly came to see me
'It's not usually Bude Sri play here!' My mind asks
"Assalamu'alaikum!" Sapa Bude Sri's
"Wa'alaikumsalam" answered the grandmother and I only answered in my heart
Bude Sri sat down to join us
"Ndis, you want to go to college or work?" Bude Sri asked while looking at me
"Gendis got a scholarship to study in Jakarta, Sri!" My grandmother chimed in
"Oh so want to continue your college, nduk!"
I still do not know what to answer, on the one hand I really want to be able to continue my education, but on the other hand I do not want to continue to be a burden for grandmother
"Are you looking for a job, Sri?" My grandmother asked
"Comeo bik!" He replied, "In Jakarta, deket same as me"
"Kerjo opo neng kono? (What work is there?)" My grandmother asked
"Break house, Bik!" Bude Sri replied "If my father is a baby sitter, it's the boss' neighbor who is looking for people"
"I would, Sri" My grandmother offered
"Well, if Bibik can still, no opo!" Bude Sri replied casually
After Bude Sri left, my grandmother and I entered the house, because Maghrib was soon
After carrying out the 3 rakaat service, my grandmother and I ate dinner together, even with a makeshift side dish but I am very grateful to still be given sustenance to be able to enjoy this food
"Sir, Gendis is working, huh?" I asked after I finished washing the dishes
"You go to college, Nduk!" My grandmother did know that I was desperately studying in order to get that scholarship
"But Gendis does not want to bother grandma continue" said I while looking down
"Snake!" Call Grandma by gently rubbing my hand "Who said you're bothering me, Grandma?"
"Gendis feels, Grandma! Gendis is just a burden to grandma!" My chest feels tight every time I remember that I was only bothering my grandmother from the baby
"Grandma doesn't feel like you're a burden, you're Grandma's responsibility, Nduk!"
"But gendis is big, Grandma! It should be now replace Gendis who takes care of grandma!" Tukasku "Gendis promised to be allowed to work part-time, in order to take the scholarship"
Finally my Grandma agreed to it after I wooed her all out

POV Author
The next day, Samuel came to see Gendis
"Manda!" Call Samuel and knock on the door
Gendis came out to meet his best friend, Gendis was only home alone in the morning until late afternoon. Because at that time his grandmother must have been working in a neighboring garden
Sometimes it helps to pick chilies, tomatoes, or harvest onions, or if the season grows rice, Grandma will work to plant rice. It was only a source of income to meet the daily needs of his grandson and himself
When Gendis opened the door, Samuel was already sitting on the porch seat
"El?" Sapa Gendis smiled
"Manda, let's go for a walk, yuk!" Take Samuel
"City!" Answer Samuel
The journey from the village of gendis to the city only takes approximately forty-five minutes by motorbike
Gendis nodded, he then went inside to change clothes, Gendis deliberately accepted the offer of his best friend as well as he wanted to say goodbye to work in Jakarta
Samuel propelled his bike after the gendis was ready. Passing through the expanse of rice fields that began to green, and the expanse of vegetables produced by farmers. What a sight that cools anyone's eyes
Samuel pulled his motorbike off at a meatball stall, he and Gendis then entered the sanity, Samuel ordered two bowls of meatballs, for his and for Gendis
While waiting for the order to come, Gendis wrote something down on her phone and gave it to Samuel to read
"El, in two days I'm going to work in Jakarta!" Gendis
Every time in many places, Gendis would write or speak sign language with Samuel. But when there were only the two of them, Gendis would freely talk to him
"Aren't you taking your scholarship, Nda?" Ask Samuel
Gendis shakes
"Why?" Ask Samuel
"I don't want to burden my grandmother any longer, El! It's time for me to take care of it, not that he continues to take care of me" Gendis wrote, Her face looks sad
Samuel knew what his friend was thinking
"Are you sure, Nda?" Samuel made sure "You've been hard-earned hard to get that, and now you're throwing that chance away?"
Gendis nodded "If there's a chance, I'll try to split the time to go to college, El!" Gendis
Their chatter comes to a halt as Mas the meatball seller delivers their order to both of them. After finishing the meatballs, they went to the city park after Samuel had paid for the meat first
Not five minutes later, Samuel's motorbike arrived at the city park. Gendis and Samuel sat side by side in the garden chair
"How about you hit the city guy, Nda!" Samuel said
"And you are the same, El! You will fall in love with your college friend and forget me" Gendis replied as she glanced at her best friend
"I don't think I'll ever!" Samuel said
"You can't be like that, El!" Gendis replied while holding her best friend's hand
"You know the answer, Nda!" He glanced at his best friend
"Learn to open your heart, El! find a good woman for your future" Gendis advises
.
"Nobody is as good as you, Nda! Nothing and never will"
The silent gendis could no longer speak. It is true that people say that there is no pure friendship between women and men without growing comfort and love
"Why don't we ever try it, Nda!" Samuel said "And let time solve this problem!" Then he looked at the girl next to him
Whether since when the feeling began to grow between Gendis and Samuel, who they knew, they were comfortable together, they felt the same sadness when one was injured
They are like hands and eyes, when the hands are hurt the eyes will cry, and when the eyes cry the hands will wipe away the tears. They need each other, they love and protect each other
Gendis seemed to find a figure that had been lost and never even known, the most Gendis man dear after his grandfather
Samuel, who was always there when Gendis was hurt, always defended when Gendis was insulted, and protected when Gendis was bullied
What a fate of God is this, they love each other but can never have each other
