The helicopter that my father was driving back landed in the heli pad behind my aunt Lily's house. There is a little regret and shame when you have to meet the teacher's grandfather. Fortunately, pesantren are on holiday so there are not many santri who live. However, Faiz never regretted his decision, which may have been a bad one for some. Where there are santri who are addicted to games is considered good. His actions must have smeared the teacher's grandfather's face. He must ask
sorry again and again for not being able to be a good and proud grandson.
Amar and Azka had greeted him with a smile. The two cousins must have missed months of not meeting and playing together. Faiz is too. About what the two kids are planning to spend the rest of the semester? It's not possible to be home.
Mang Asep immediately gave him a congratulatory greeting and hugged him. And children.
“Congratulations yes, Iz. It is not in vain that you are truant and get out of the pesantren. Finally could be the champion of the international online game tournament.” he said with a smile of sarcasm.
Faiz. He did not feel proud of the achievement and did not regret his misbehavior at the last time in the boarding school. Just ordinary.
“Come fight my opponent, Kak.” challenge Amar bravely. He was never afraid of losing. For him the game is not important to lose or win. What matters is its togetherness.
“Against, Mar. Take a break playing the game first. Let's see the headquarters!”
“Do not play first, Iz. You have to meet the teacher's grandfather first.” Satya's orders are firm.
Faiz could only squint his eyes at Amar and Azka. His manners if he comes here as a guest must first meet the teacher's grandfather. In addition to his biological grandfather, the teacher's grandfather had been a great meritor for many years educating him. That's why the teacher's grandfather was the first person to be respected. Besides, if you do not look to welcome his arrival, most likely the mother must be at the grandfather's house.
“I'll take yuk!” Amar and Azka immediately escorted them.
They walked together to the grandfather's house in the boarding school. It borders the free clinic and aunt Lily's yard. Grandpa lives with his grandmother, aunt Nisa and son Rosyid.
Aunt Nisa has been serving for almost 10 years as an ustadzah in the pesantren. She lives with her husband and family in the city of Sukabumi which is tens of kilometers from Jampang. On the day of learning Aunt Nisa came and went from the city of Sukabumi to Jampang with her family driver. But since Ardi and her youngest child died in a tragic accident, Aunt Nisa decided to live with her grandfather in a boarding school. In addition to being closer to where he teaches the atmosphere in the pesantren is also more conducive to his healing trauma. Grandparents and grandmothers are always with him.
Actually, Dewi wanted aunt Nisa and her children to live with her in Jakarta, but aunt Nisa preferred to teach in the boarding school. Only Fathia, his eldest son who since childhood wanted to accompany his eyes live in Jakarta.
Aunt Nisa's family has a traffic accident on the way home from Jakarta to Sukabumi. According to Rosyid's story they were in a car that was driving when strapped a few bullets by an unknown person who passed by on a motorcycle. The right car glass broke, the tire erupted and the car rolled on a road that was quiet enough that they were late to get help. Abi and his youngest brother died on the way to the hospital. While aunt Nisa was seriously injured which resulted in her coma for 3 days in the ICU room.
Rosyid himself suffered trauma and severe injuries that resulted in him having to lose one of his legs. Everyone concluded that the incident was a tragic accident that people must have planned. The case has been handled by the police but until now the shooter is still mysterious. Satya's father did not stay silent. He hired a special detective to investigate the case. The results are not too encouraging because up to 2 years have not yet found a bright spot who the shooter was.
Since then, the teacher's grandfather has been more attentive to Rosyid than to his other grandchildren. Maybe because the child had severe trauma and he said it took a long healing process. Aunt Nisa did too.
Faiz tried to understand, though Faiz could not hide his jealousy. All eyes that had admired him as the most intelligent and handsome child, now turned to pay attention to Rosyid who he thought was just an ordinary child. Rosyid looked strange with one of his fake legs. Who does not care about his fate. It is natural that he gets the attention of many people, because orphans according to religious beliefs are special. Just wiping his head had already earned a reward.
Her brother died suddenly in a tragic accident. Everyone was more and more sorry for him. It's just that according to Faiz, all the attention given by people is too excessive until the child turns into arrogant and likes to seek attention by utilizing the sense of pity of people.
Conscious or not, since then Faiz also began to look for an outlet from his isolation by playing more online games. Victory after victory he quickly gained from his shrewd strategizing by analyzing the game's algorithms and the advantages of each hero avatar he controlled. Not surprisingly, Faiz had raised an account which he then sold to new gamers who wanted to level up instantly. Over time the game began to poison his mind to dare to skip school and leave many mandatory pesantren activities. His motivation is no longer to overcome loneliness and boredom with life in pesantren, but rather to turn to fame and money.
Faiz had no respect for Rosyid who with his disability became spoiled and always asked for the attention of many people.
Later Faiz knew there were already some boarding teachers who menghitah uminya to be a wife, but Rosyid always refused loudly. He hates people who preach to him for the reason that they do not want to have another father other than Ardi who has come home to him. She insisted that Aunt Nisa remain widowed just like the eyes of the Goddess who decided to be widowed after decades of her husband's death. The boy was stubborn. Poor uminya. Aunt Nisa is still young.
"Assalamu'alaikum, Grandpa guru." Faiz predates kissing his grandfather's hand than any other guest.
"Wa'alaikumsalam warohmatullahi wa barokatuh. How's Grandpa's handsome grandson? You are getting taller and cleaner. Have you achieved your wish of becoming the winner of an international gaming competition?" The teacher's grandfather answered him in a soft voice full of authority. He also hugged the body of his eldest grandson, rubbed his head and prayed for him.
Faiz was glad Grandpa never got angry even though he had let her down. Faiz's exit from school must have tarnished his good name and lowered his credibility as an exemplary teacher. How can it be recognized again as an exemplary teacher, while educating his grandson has failed. That's how people look at him now. Poor thing. Because Faiz's reputation goes down.
"Faiz has decided to quit his contract to become a professional gamer, Kek."
"Why? Tired of it?"
Faiz nodded.
"But baby, according to the rules of the pesantren you can no longer return."
"It's okay, Cake. I really want to live with my father, mother, Faiza and bi Biru in Jakarta."
"alright. But don't forget grandpa's message."
Faiz nodded.
"What?"
"Dear faith, keep safe and take care of the old man."
The teacher smiled wisely. He hugged and ruffled his grandson's hair.
"good. Grandpa's granddaughter is smart."
Faiz replied with a smile. There is no word of disappointment in the eyes of grandfather even though he had smeared his face. Grandpa's pity on his granddaughter is indeed as big as the ocean.
Not much of what Grandpa said. Not because of boredom or fatigue but because grandfather needs to give time to Faiz's father who has been waiting in line with the teacher's grandfather behind him. Faiz immediately shifted to salaman with aunt Nisa whose face was still plastered with many murats of sadness. The burden of life made him look older than his age. Though she's her sister mother but because her face is dull and lethargic looks like her sister's grandmother.
Rosyid as always, always greeted him with a sharp eye gaze that was difficult to translate. Since childhood, he has been looking to compete. He envied Faiz who he considered to have everything, closeness to grandfather, abundant property, smart, handsome and harmonious family.
Faiz had to extend his hand first and was crucified by Rosyid. His style made his head throb and his blood boil. He was not like Amar and Azka who always showed a loving and polite face respecting Faiz as a sister who according to genealogy was clearly older.
Rosyid hates dad too. I don't know why. Though Ardi and Aunt Nisa never hated that much to dad. Why can his son do that? Bizarrely. Indeed, he still wants to meet and greet every time he meets, but it seems that he did it by force and seems deliberately challenging by showing an unpleasant face. Anyway if there is a selection of cousins most annoying then Rosyid ranks first. After that there was only brother Amel and brother Aliya - the son of Bram-Pakde who was chatty, dominating and the appearance of a queen.
