Between you and me

Between you and me
A Request

Yesterday Dennis's mom came to see Dera. And it's true Dennis's guess that something happened to Dera until he made this difficult decision. Dennis' mother came to Dera's house after asking the housing security. Dera was sitting down writing her own job application while her father was away at work.

"Assalamu'alaikum" said Mama Dennis.

"Wa'alaikumsalam" answered Dera as he walked outside the house. "Sorry who's looking for you?" Ask Dera.

"You're Dera?"

"Yes my own"

"I'm Dennis's mother"

"Oh sorry auntie, let's go in" Dera invited in. Her mother Dera came in and sat on the chair.

"My aunt made me a drink first."

"Not bothering" Rejected Dennis' mama.

"No tan" Dera immediately headed for the kitchen. Soon he came out with a glass of warm tea and some snacks.

"Please aunty" he said as he laid down on the table. "Sorry my aunt is small and hot" he continued.

"No papa." Mama Dennis smiled.

"Are you busy?"

"Not tan, just write a job application"

"Oh yes, you just finished your graduation. Auntie heard you graduated cumlaude?"

"Alhamdulillah tan"

Mama Dennis sipped tea made by Dera.

"So morning aunt tried your brownie cake. Delicious loh"

"I'm here because I want to talk about Dennis" said Dennis' mom to a standstill while Dera held her breath waiting for his continuation. "I know you're approaching my son not because of treasure, I know you're not that kind of child. But please, can you keep your distance from my son?"

"What does aunt mean?" Dera's confused.

"I mean like this, please give my son a chance to know more girls besides you. Because if you're still around, Dennis won't come near anyone but you" Dennis' mom said carefully. "Tante sure you know what auntie means"

"Auntie wants me to leave Dennis?"

"About that"

"But what's wrong with my aunt?"

Mama Dennis sighed.

"You're not wrong. You are a good boy and smart. It's just that your relationship is wrong. You shouldn't be dating. If you're just friends, your aunt won't ask you to stay away from her." Definitely mom Dennis.

Unknowingly Dera's tears were dripping.

"As you serve your parents by hearing all the advice, the aunt also wants Dennis to be devoted to her mother and father. And it would be hard to do if you were nearby." Mama Dennis held Dera's hand. "You don't want Dennis to be a bad boy, do you? Because stay away from him. Aunt please. Aunty is just an ordinary mother who wants the best for her" Mama Dennis pleaded.

"Yes aunty I understand. I'm not the best for Dennis. Surely aunt wants Dennis to marry a woman equal to aunty right?" Dera said in between her sobs.

"I'm sorry aunt. It's for Dennis, too."

"Good aunt. I'll fulfill aunt's request. I'll stay away from her. But let me say goodbye to him tomorrow"

"Please. Thank you for understanding aunt." Mama Dennis sipped his tea again. "Then excuse me." Said.

Mama Dennis walked out, then suddenly stopped and turned to face the dera, and he said,

"Aunty heard you wanted to apply for a job at a hospital near housing right?" He asked, Dera nodded.

"Auntie can help you. Think of it as a thank you because you've been willing to fulfill aunt's request." Mama Dennis then left Dera's house.
