Kiyohime: Beauty in Solitude
Kiyohime sat by the pond in the temple courtyard, gazing at the calm water and reflecting the morning sun. The gurgling sound of the nearby river water accompanied the silent silence of the silent temple. Every morning, he enjoys moments like this, feeling the peace and beauty that is around him.
As a beautiful temple princess, Kiyohime is revered by the villagers around. However, in his heart, there was a sense of emptiness that was hard to explain. Although decorated by floral offerings and fragrant incense, his life felt monotonous and lonely.
Meanwhile, a young monk named Anshin frequented the temple. With her neatly pigtailed long black hair and calm gaze, her presence caught Kiyohime's attention. Anshin was a wise person, possessing an aura of wisdom emanating from her.
On a sunny morning, while Kiyohime was sitting by the pool, Anshin came to meditate at the temple. Kiyohime's eyes could not escape her graceful presence. Inwardly, he began to feel a strong urge to approach the monk, to express his pent-up feelings.
However, when Kiyohime expresses her love for Anshin, she finds herself gently rejected. Anshin explains that she has promised to dedicate her life to the spiritual path, avoiding the worldly bond. The rejection ripped Kiyohime to heart, igniting the flames of jealousy and despair within him.
Along with the unbearable pain, the magical power hidden within Kiyohime began to rise. In his impulse of anger and despair, he turned into a terrifying dragon, his skin glittering with a burning color of fire.
Naga Kiyohime burns down the temple that was once his home, destroying everything around him. A smoldering burst of flames engulfed his body, and an uncontrollable fury made him lose control of himself.
However, behind the sinister cruelty of dragons, there are still pieces of human beings that are destroyed. Kiyohime felt a deep feeling of loss, sadness that struck his heart. Though her powers have changed, she realizes that she has lost the love, the life she once knew.
In a gripping solitude, Kiyohime promises to find Anshin, to avenge her rejection and despair with equal pain.
Kiyohime crossed the burning ground and the ruins of the destroyed temple with slow steps. Every footprint he left behind carried a burn mark, implying an unquenchable fury within him. Kiyohime's dragon head was raised high, looking for traces of Anshin who had long disappeared.
In her desperate search, Kiyohime wanders to various places Anshin believes she has visited. He toured the remote mountains, traversed the dense forest, and down the clear river. In every place he goes, he asks the monks and locals about Anshin's whereabouts, in hopes of finding clues that will lead him on the chance to meet her.
However, even though Kiyohime tried hard, his every attempt was in vain. Anshin's trail just disappeared, as if she had disappeared from the face of the earth. Desperation was squeezing Kiyohime even more, but he did not give up. He was sure that under any circumstances, he would find Anshin and force the man to deal with her.
One day, while Kiyohime was sitting alone by a quiet river, an old woman came over to him. With a doubtful step, he walked up to Kiyohime and sat down next to her. The old woman looked at the dragon with great pity, with no fear or hatred in her eyes.
"In the past, I also knew a deep feeling of loneliness, too" the old woman said in a soft voice. "However, I learned that true beauty does not have to depend on the presence of others. It can be found in solitude, when we are at peace with ourselves."
Kiyohime listened to the old woman's words carefully, pondering her deep meaning. There was truth in those words, and he felt a kind of soothing peace encompassing his heart. The old woman gave him a white cloth, with a request that Kiyohime look within himself and find true beauty.
With big, trembling hands, Kiyohime received the white cloth from the old woman. She felt the tenderness and warmth emanating from her, like getting a gentle touch from a loving mother. With a hopeful heart, Kiyohime looked at the white cloth, allowing it to absorb the tears that flowed from his eyes.
As time passed, Kiyohime underwent a deep process of self-discovery. He devoted time to contemplating and understanding complex souls. In solitude, he finds an unshakable serenity, a beauty infinite in the presence of others.
Kiyohime sees that he is not an evil dragon, but a creature full of empathy and longing for love. He realized that his despair burned into the flames of hatred did not bring happiness or liberation, but only caused deeper suffering.
On his long journey, Kiyohime also discovers the true meaning of love. Love is not blind ownership or gratification of the ego, but it makes room for the happiness of our loved ones. He understands that his love for Anshin must be present in the form of freedom and appreciation, not in an attempt to force desire or destroy everything to satisfy jealousy.
In his solitude and growth, Kiyohime achieved enlightenment. He decided to move on with his life by harnessing the power and wisdom he possessed, not to vent his anger or sadness, but to help others and spread kindness in the world.
Kiyohime returned to the village with a new spirit, no longer as a ferocious dragon, but as a wise and compassionate figure. The villagers who had been afraid and moved away from him saw an amazing change in him. They grant Kiyohime forgiveness and a second chance to prove that he has changed.
Kiyohime helps rebuild a destroyed temple, devotes himself to mending relationships with the villagers, and finds happiness in giving love and support to them. He taught them about the beauty that can be found in solitude, and the importance of loving yourself before loving others.
On her journey, Kiyohime never forgets Anshin, but she understands that her love has turned into genuine concern. She hopes Anshin finds the peace she seeks, and she prays for happiness for the man on his spiritual journey.
