"After giving birth to you into this world, Mama thought everything would be fine Luna. Early in the marriage, Mama and Papa were even so confident they could get through it all. But in fact the assumption was wrong because the storm of our marriage had just begun," said Jelita on the sidelines holding back her tears.
"Mama is experiencing an unusually bad baby blues. Stress because ASI never came out. Not to mention the hassle of taking care of your daily needs that have not been met like milk, diapers, soap, clothes and others. Mom was really scared that time."
"Being a new parent at 17 is the hardest thing in our lives. Plus when you were about 6 years old, Papa was dismissed from his job. Small stall business that Mama built went out of business because it ran out of capital," explained Jelita who was still sobbing.
"Until the point of saturation because life is difficult, Mama and Papa finally give up. We decided to split up and go back to our respective extended families until-"
"Until you choose to abandon me." Luna cut Jelita's words with a tone of emphasis. "Isn't that right?"
The hearts of Brahim and Jelita were instantly stifled. The circles and melts of their tears seemed to well up in the eyes until the drops flowed profusely on the cheeks. There were no words other than regret that could describe their current feelings.
"My question is quite simple. Why now?" ask Luna cynically. "Why are you looking for me after 15 years? Is it because you guys can't have any more kids to keep regretting leaving me?"
Brahim chimed in, "Not so dear...Mama and Papa did not want to not look, but our position was desperate. Opa and Eyang Kakungmu strictly forbid us to meet you. They both forbid us from ever coming into contact with a dangerous threat. Mama and Papa got divorced before returning. It took 5 years until we were at our current point."
"2 years after we left you, Papa and Mama thought half dead Luna! How's your life out there, have you eaten? Have you slept well? Is life good? We are also tormented every night of your dreams. Worrying about being afraid of you is okay." continued Brahim again.
Luna chuckled as she shook her head. It's hard to believe. "How great is the threat from Opa and Eyang Kakung that makes you cowards? You two are just afraid of living poor, that's why you chose the safe path by following the orders of the two old men."
"Lun..Papa's looking for you too, son, Papa came to our old house but you're gone. It was only recently that Papa knew you were in Semarang with Bimo and Ririn. Opa you have closed all access Papa to be able to find you dear.please trust Papa.." Brahim clenched his hands together, begging for mercy on his girl who is no longer a girl.
Brahim wants to cry in his heart. Crying over her incompetent self becoming the head of the family. Her indecision made her little family crumble.
"I really don't care about your past Mother Jelita and Mr. Brahim" said Luna once again. "For whatever reason, there will be no justification for your past actions that ever threw away an 8-year-old who knew nothing!"
"I didn't ask to be born to parents like you. You should have just thrown that fetus away. So that my childhood did not suffer because of your actions." so hurt her heart, Luna to press her own chest with her index finger.
Luna refocused her gaze to look at her biological parents sitting sweetly across from her.
"If you're asking me to understand a confused 17-year-old couple taking care of domestic life, then why don't you try to understand me who was a child? Every day I am always indoctrinated as an unlucky child by your own mouth. Never given love. Always ignored, ignored, just lucky I didn't die back then..."
"Luna's enough!!" Noah held back his wife's words so as not to stir. He rubbed the woman's arm again to make it calmer.
But unfortunately Luna actually brushed off all the affection given by her husband. He's not in the mood to be kind. Luna wanted to reveal all the facts of her life first.
"Why Mas? Why should I stop? Let's leave! Let them get caught up with reality itself. You don't know how they were the same as me! The first day of kindergarten until graduation, even when I first entered elementary school, they did not have Mas.their presence did not exist! I was always yelled at, scolded until I was stressed to bear all the burdens myself!" luna Sentak.
"Look now, Mas, they came here lightly to apologize after destroying my mentality. Did they know when I was a teenager coming back and forth to a psychologist, a psychiatrist, just to cure all my trauma. Pakdhe and Budhe banged for money so I could live a normal life. They don't know!!!" luna's body squeezed and her shoulders shrank down.
Luna then stopped babbling and buried her head in the husband's arms. He's not strong anymore. Not strong to hold the tightness of this heart because of endless heartache.
Noah's soul was also slipping. The wife who had been known as a jolly figure and a cheerful woman, in fact harbored so much sadness in the recesses of her heart.
True to say, the beautiful smile and sweet laughter is just a camouflage from someone to hide his sadness. And it happened to Luna.
Luna stretched out her embrace while removing the remains of tears still stuck to her face. He drew his breath deep, then exhaled it back slowly.
"I would love to be able to make peace with that dark past" said Luna.
Brahim and Jelita who had initially lowered their heads were now looking up at their daughter. They really hope this problem has a point.
"I really want peace. So I decided to forgive you."
Degh...
These two sentences made Jelita cry even more. Brahim also shut his mouth in disbelief. The couple clasped each other and fused their eyebrows sideways.
Luna tried legowo. "My life is happy now. Very-very happy. Having a responsible husband, caring in-laws, a good brother-in-law, and friends who truly love me. I'm lucky..."
"I will try to let go of all the grudges and burdens that gnawed at my heart during my 23 years of life in this world. I'll try. But all of that takes process. I may be able to forgive, but I can't forget" Luna said bluntly.
However, Luna still needed time to accept everything. There was nothing instant except her impromptu marriage to Noah just yet.
"We don't matter, honey..Papa doesn't care if you hate us or whatever. But only one request. Please don't go any further than us Luna Olivia.." pinta Brahim welcomes.
"Mom and Dad can't lose you anymore. Don't push us far. Let us sinners redeem those 15 wasted years" Brahim's words sounded sincere.
Luna did not have the energy to get the words out of her mouth anymore. He just nodded back. There's not much he wants to say either. All his uneg-unegs have been delivered.
