Samuel was still standing in his place, when he heard Naira say something that made him feel that his heart was full and hurt. His eyes were still on the place where Naira had been. Naira is out of the hotel room.

Samuel rubbed his rough face and looked towards the door of the hotel room. It was a hard feeling for him to explain.

'Is he starting to like me too?' ask Samuel in your heart.

The flashback

When Samuel and Naira decide to leave Caren and Kenzo, the two men have their own plans.

"If I had known Samuel, he wouldn't have had the heart to see me ignore you like that. It's your chance to get her attention!" kenzo.

"Kenzo, are you sure that we are...!"

"It's Caren, I told her not to. I'm completely numb to you, your fault has failed me!" said Kenzo even with a soft tone of voice and a face that did not seem angry. But still every word that came out of his mouth was a sharp stab fixed on Caren's chest.

Caren just lowered her head, she herself did not know what to do. All was his fault, due to his greed instead he lost both.

"Now follow Samuel, and tell me what I told you earlier. Don't make mistakes!" exciting Kenzo.

And everything went exactly as Kenzo had hoped. Samuel who saw Caren getting thinner and his very attitude turned to pity on the woman. Caren known to Samuel will not be silent if there is someone who ignores and hurts his pride. But just now, Caren just kept quiet and smiled at whatever Kenzo was doing in front of her. Even when Kenzo was so concerned about Naira.

After Naira went to the first room, Caren came to Samuel. With a sobbing, he called out to Samuel who was still sitting on the garden chair alone.

Samuel stood up and approached Caren.

"Why are you, what's going on?" samuel asked, looking very worried.

Caren opened her hand slowly which covered her right cheek. And lowered his eyes so that Samuel might grow more compassionate toward him. His shoulders went up and down, because he was already sobbing.

Samuel's eyes widened when he saw the mark of the five fingers on Caren's right cheek. Samuel was stirred up with emotion, for years he never even said anything rude to Caren, and seeing the woman he once loved so much being treated like that, really made Samuel furious.

"Did Kenzo do it?" ask Samuel.

And Caren remained silent and continued to sob, Samuel grew more and more enraged.

"I'll teach that cowardly man a lesson!" samuel and he almost walked away.

But Caren caught his hand, making Samuel stop and turn to Caren again. Caren shook her head quickly.

"Don't Sam hiks...hiks...if you defend me, he will get angry and be rude to me!" lirih Caren sobbing.

Samuel looked at Caren, he really felt sorry for the woman crying in front of him. Samuel invites Caren to sit on the garden chair he was sitting in with Naira.

"Are you happy?" ask Samuel.

"Sam, I'm sorry hiks...!" caren hugged Samuel.

Samuel who was initially surprised because the short story hugged him suddenly. Finally gently stroked Caren's back and hugged her. He's thinking of comforting Caren. Because he clearly saw sadness and despair in the eyes of the woman he once adored.

While Samuel was comforting Caren, Kenzo took his ploy and brought Naira to see the scene. Kenzo was satisfied when he saw Naira as she was so sad that she even cried. Not because he was satisfied to see Naira sad, but he was satisfied because it had made Naira distrust Samuel.

After Naira leaves, Samuel also releases Caren.

"If you're not happy, why are you still with him?" ask Samuel.

"We're engaged, Kenzo's mom is very kind to me. And you know that Kenzo is very powerful in the business that I'm in right now. He could have ruined my years of hard work if I.hiks..!" Caren came back crying and was unable to continue her words.

Samuel was more and more pitying to see it, he knew the class of how Caren was fighting for his current career. He even left Samuel and his family abroad for his career. And Samuel also knew that the Kenzo family was very influential on Caren's career.

"Sam, I'm sorry I've been bothering you, but I don't know who else I can complain to. I don't have any more Sam, you know I'm really sorry for the mistake I made. Surely God is punishing me at this time, and I do deserve all this..!" Caren cried again and Samuel hugged her again.

"Have, I've forgiven you!" said Samuel.

Caren looked directly at Samuel, looking into the eyes of the man she once loved.

"Sam, have you forgiven me?" ask Caren.

He smiled and it made Samuel smile too.

"Are we...?"

"Sorry Caren, I have forgiven you, but I am now married. And you should know. If I really loved Naira, my wife!" samuel was sure.

At first she does not realize it, but when she gets scared because Kenzo approaches Naira. He felt that if he was not willing to let go of Naira, it made him even more sure that he was really in love with his contract wife.

"Sam..!" lirih Caren with eyes that back glazed.

"But we can be Caren's best friend, like we used to be when we were in college. And as a friend, I can tell you about it and if you're having trouble you can come to me!" said Samuel.

Caren was crying again, her heart hurt. He was truly sorry to have let go of a man as good as Samuel, as sincere as Samuel was for the sake of his career and for the sake of a man who only gave him momentary satisfaction and enjoyment.

And after comforting Caren, Samuel paid his respects to Caren.

"It's late, you go back to your room. I also have to go back to my wife!" said Samuel then left Caren who was still wrapped in sadness because of deep regret.
