Part 1[edit]
The Worker's team, led by Parupatra, "Green Leaf", set off those trapped in hope and excitement and looked around from the top of the staircase into the main tomb.
As if everything in the tomb had been covered by winter snow, nothing was alive and everything looked as if it had died. There was only silence and starlight. The team asked him when they finished climbing the stairs.
"Elder, isn't this a waste of opportunity? We could've gone handing the search on the surface to the other team."
"It's true, no matter what team, except that jerk, there shouldn't be much difference in ability. Whatever we do, 'Heavy Masher' or 'Foresight' can do it too."
"Then..."
Parupatra interrupted his partner and continued.
"but won't we get the right to be the first seeker tomorrow? We won't miss too much. Plus, the next day, the search inside should be over. The last team to go inside will miss all of his possessions, and worst-case scenario, get trapped in the headquarters with the task of being a guard."
"H-ha...."
"Too risky to be the first to go into an unknown location. They'll be our little canaries. I wish they'd come back safely."
Parupatra turned around with cold eyes. His gaze was fixed on the place where the workers who entered the tomb were. His sincere insulting expression did not match the jolly and refined man who had the nickname 'Elder'. Those who did not know him much would be surprised, but his comrades knew.
The old man named Parupatra was a very careful person. He was a man who would inspect a bridge twice before crossing it. That was how he had managed to survive as an adventurer for a long time, and he had even killed a dragon once. On the contrary, he also missed many opportunities due to his cautious attitude. However, since he had never lost a single peer so far, all his comrades could do was trust his decision.
Although life was the most precious treasure to all of them, there was still a hint of hanging regret they might have missed on the loot.
"This is an opportunity to find truly outstanding items. Isn't that worth the risk?"
"You're not wrong, but look at this tomb. Don't you think this is too clean? If something were to clean this place up, a monser would probably appear to say hello. It's best to let the other team figure out what kind of monster is there. In person. I'm really not happy with a job like this. Too many unknown things."
A teammate carefully responded to the Parupatra protests.
"Yet you took it too."
"It's because the other team took it too. In the worst-case scenario, we'll leave them as bait when we escape."
The team came down the stairs.
"Is that the reason why you suggest checking the surface? So we can escape if we listen to their screams?"
"That too. But I think of this as gambling....Like you said, we might miss the loot. If we have more information, it will be safer, but we do not know if the benefits will be heavier than the risks. If you're right, I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it, elder. We all trust you. After all, in most cases, you're right."
"Added, though if we missed out today, we could find another job to make money. You said to yourself, as long as we're alive, the opportunity to make money will always be there. So there's no need to dive inside carelessly."
"The customer. That was from when we were young."
"Haha, are you sure you're not young?"
"Don't joke like that, elder. You shouldn't say that." The team headed towards one of the small dungeons with a bitter smile.
"However, I should discuss this with you before making a decision. I'm sorry I just decided to make it myself." "Well, you can't keep him in that situation. Plus, the elder is our chosen leader. If our trusted leader decides so, we'll follow."
"...Even though you don't look too happy. Why is everyone smiling bitterly? Well, anyway, let's finish this survey as soon as possible and if there's any time left, let's have a sparring with Momon once again. This is a great opportunity for you too. So how?"
"I definitely remember you two sparring. It's true, it was a duel that suited an adamantite adventurer."
"...Even among the adamantite adventurers, there were all sorts of people. Right now, the 'Eight Ripples' within the Empire were not a real group of adamantite adventurers. Someone like Momon was a true adamantite adventurer. A man who managed to get something I could never get."
"Chairman..."
"of course. So you should have asked him to check out your sword technique. If you have to remain adventurous after I die, such experiences will prove invaluable in the future."
"I can't imagine the elder dying. There's probably gonna be a nice retirement."
"really. The elder will probably live a long time like Paradyne."
"A very good time."
A woman's voice just appeared. The only women who were with them were two of Hekkeran's 'Foresight' and Eruya's three slave elves. But the sound was different from all of them.
Everyone looked at him with weapons ready.
Several women were standing on the steps of the mausoleum they had just descended. There are five people. They are beautiful, but that is what makes them so weird.
All of them were wearing maid clothes, but their clothes were unlike any maid outfit they had ever seen before. The clothes had a metallic luster of metal, like armor.
"Who... you guys? I've never seen you guys before...Hmmm, is there a secret tunnel like I thought?" "Women? They have the same beautiful face as The Beauty from 'Darkness' .... They don't look like ordinary people."
"They don't look like enemies, however, don't look like the people hired by who hired us.."
"What should we do, elder?"
His colleague asked Parupatra while watching the woman. Negotiating with them is the best option, but it is unlikely to end sweetly.
"We have the same amount... Could it be equivalent?"
The opponent's strength was definitely on par or slightly above theirs. The reason why they didn't attack when all the workers were gathered was definitely because they weren't strong enough to handle everyone at once or because they thought it might be a trap. The reason why they finally showed their faces was definitely because they were confident they could win against the Parupatra group.
Parupatra was sweating less and less as he got older now, his hands holding a spear were also wet.
"Despite that, put the maid inside the tomb... Someone must have some questionable taste."
In an instant, the fellow who had just been joking was instantly trembling, his face pale and his eyebrows were covered in sweat.
Parupatra also felt a sudden chill coming at him, but the reason he was goosebumps all over was not because of his air temperature.
The cold eyes of those maids who were lined up straight at the top of the stairs were clearly visible under the moonlight. Almost as if their eyes were glittering.
"MOTHER of meREkA."
"...They must die."
"They don't deserve to die so quickly. They must suffer greatly before they die."
An aura of murderous lust rolled around the maids. His emotional whirlpool was extremely powerful, making one wonder if the world might collapse around them.
"Wait a minute." Maid who looked like the one in charge clapped his hands softly.
"We are commanded not to let any of them come back alive, so killing them is a reward. But it's nice to see everyone being enthusiastic about it."
Clack. A metallic sound rang out from the stairs, which seemed to be made of marble. It was the high-heeled shoes of those maids, which were similar to greaves. TL Note: Greave is included from the armour that protects the foot (Shoe-Like).
Parupatra's comrades retreated as if they were being pushed. Considering their opponents who didn't carry weapons, they were definitely magic casters. In addition, the opponent holds a high place advantage. Adhesives cannot stand alone in a large, open area without any protection.
For Parupatra and his team, shortening the distance is a good thing. For the maids, it was the opposite. But why did the maids even come down the stairs? Are they planning on using 'Flight' if the situation gets more dire for them?
Looking at the maids, who seemed emotionless as if they were wearing masks as they haughtily descended from the stairs, the Parupatra team gathered behind the shield of the warrior and discussed their next move.
Clack. Making a louder sound, the maids stopped half the stairs.
"Now, I will introduce myself first. I'm a Pleiades sub-leader, Yuri Alpha. I think this will be a short meeting, but please be careful. If we decide to face you ourselves, it will be quickly completed, but due to a certain situation, we cannot face you alone. Too bad."
A beautiful voice sounded like the sound of a bell in the wind. The extraordinarily beautiful Maid-maid was smiling filled with an allure that could make any man fall in love in an instant.
Parupatra is a former adventurer and has seen a lot in his career as a worker. Among them were beings who possessed beauty far past ordinary humans, like elves. Despite that, he had never seen a woman as beautiful as this before. It was enough to make someone's chin gawk.
Their arrogant and superior-feeling tones that flowed through their speech could only be issued by powerful people hidden behind those beautiful faces. It was an attitude that did not match the men who repeatedly braved danger and were confident in their abilities. It almost made them want to advise the maids.
But considering the circumstances, it seemed that the maids were stronger and there was no spirit against them. Plus, one of their comrades had become stiff with murderous lust and still had not consciously mastered his fear.
Perhaps the best option was to retreat towards the adventurers - especially Momon - and bring them as reinforcements.
"Then I will introduce your opponent."
Yuri clapped her hands. As if responding to the sound of claps, which flowed very far away, the tomb trembled.
"Come out, Old Guard Nazarick. "What?"
The earth split behind them and several skeletons appeared.
Is this a besieging attack?! Wh..
Looking up the stairs, the maids were very hostile, but did not seem to want to fight alone. They appear as spectators. He could not ignore them, yet they did not seem to want to attack, as announced.
Parupatra decides that the real opponents are the skeletons who are behind and spin around to face them.
The Skeletons themselves were not difficult opponents. Even though hundreds of skeletons attacked the Parupatra team, they would be able to clear it easily. Compared to that, the eight skeletons that emerged from the ground were nothing.
But there is one problem.
Parupatra's colleagues swallowed saliva and subconsciously took a step back.
The atmosphere around them was different from an ordinary skeleton. Even though their equipment is different. They wear beautiful breastplates suited to the royal army of the country, holding a kite-shaped shield with a symbol in one of them and a variety of weapons in the other. On their backs were a combination of long bows, and their entire equipment had a magic luster.
There was no way that skeletons equipped with magic items were just ordinary skeletons.
"What's that?" "Even you don't know, elder? I'm not sure, but it might be a sub-species of 'Skeleton Warrior'"
"Sub-species? They don't look like 'Red Skeleton Warriors' either...."
An opponent that has never been seen before will always bring fear. Especially if they are equipped with magic weapons with special effects.
"-Considering how many you guys are, I'm sure this is a sufficient amount. Please try, and show us you can run."
"A pride can face an undead like this. But..."
Parupatra thought objectively.
It would be difficult to have too many undead equipped with so much magic equipment. Their plan was probably the strongest from the start. Otherwise, they would have waited for everyone to go inside and separate.
"-This is the main force of this tomb, right? Do you think you can stop us with just this?"
When Parupatra looked up, Yuri looked around as if surprised.
Exactly it. They've been setting this trap ever since they talked to us.
The smartest way to use their ultimate power is to separate and defeat. Considering the chances they might not face the enemy, the best strategy was to wait at the entrance, where everyone had to pass by when they were physically and mentally exhausted from searching inside the tomb.
The opponent's plan was clear as well. Yuri might say "Let's see how far you can run" to encourage them to escape, so that he can attack from behind, which is a favorable position for him. The enemy would need to fight many times after this, so they wanted to save as much energy as possible. Then there's only one thing to do.
"If we defeat all the skeletons here and break through them, it'll all be done. Am I wrong?"
For the sake of the teams that would come behind them, they had to destroy the old Guard Nazarick. They may be rivals, but the comrades in one mission are still partners. Moreover, if the other party had already predicted that they would escape, staying and fighting would have at least a chance of falling into a trap. If their opponent was too strong, they still had the option of summoning Momon as a last resort.
"I don't think we're even the canaries... How should I say, make the head hurt. But do you think they're just that?"
"It's hard to imagine there are even more undead armed with such equipment roaming around."
"This is a place that any intruder must penetrate. Tactically, it was natural to place the strongest army here. They know this place better than us, and I doubt they'll make the mistake of dividing their powers too much."
"...No, there must be more inside the tomb itself. But there may be undead with a lower class."
"Chairman... Let's run. They're dangerous. It's really dangerous."
"Our escape route was already closed when they surrounded us. Even if we fly, we might be shot down with arrows. We have to hang in here! There was no other way but to defeat them head on!" Amidst Parupatra's cries, a voice, partly shocked and partly condescending, came from above.
"Well, I think there's a way to get through that. We'll encourage you, so please start."
As the remark dissipated further, Old Guard Nazarick began to advance.
Yuri and her comrades let out confused faces as they 'enjoyed them'. They were unable to hide the shock with the unexpected situation that had arisen. They did not anticipate this at all.
"Hey, do they really mean it?"
"...Unexpected."
"Cocytus-sama is also shocked."
"JIKA teRUs sePERti InI.tiDak aKAn bergerak seSUAI reNCAna"
A hammer swung in the air as Yuri and his comrades looked on.
"It looks like they won't make it. He's gonna die!"
As Lupusregina spoke, a man received an attack on the chest and fell.
The crumbling sound of metal and the sound of a heavy object falling down could be heard clearly in the midst of the fierce battle.
The first victim was a human warrior. Old Guard Nazarick who was holding a hammer with the added 'Lightning' did not even celebrate his success in killing and only moved in search of his next target.
"Cleric-san~ If you heal her fast enough, she won't die."
CZ shook his head towards Yuri who sounded a little worried.
"...It's no use. Directly die. And also, the formation had already collapsed because of it."
The two Old Guard Nazarick who were warriors who were holding themselves back finally advanced, with one heading towards the cleric and the other moving towards the back of the formation. The cleric was fighting against two people from the start, and now he had to fight one more. He no longer had the space to use his magic. The only thing he could do was try to dodge the attacks coming from three directions.
Even Parupatra, who did well alone, was fighting three enemies and could not help the others.
"The "rogue had no fire power. Don't they have some kind of ace in their back pocket?"
Now the rogue who must fight while protecting the magic caster must accept an opponent again and he must face two enemies. The light rogue weapon was unable to deal a crushing blow to Old Guard Nazarick - an opponent covered in heavy armor and an undead, who had no particular point of weakness. He tried to dodge with an agile body, but against the three tireless undead, the match went to waste.
"He was looking this way with an expression as sad as that~"
"Should we wave to him?"
"as the SEHAURUsNYa tiDAk ApA."
"If it's not what~!"
Lupusregina waved her hand towards Parupatra with an enthusiastic smile.
"...Direct attack."
"That's because Lupu distracted her."
"Fuuee~ Then it's my fault?"
"...Yep. Your fault. But encouraging them is good..... Come on Tim."
"Yes, I hope they fight just as enthusiastically."
Each maid nodded with Yuri's sentence.
In the battle with Parupatra's team of workers, Old Guard Nazarick completely outperformed the fight from the start. Yuri and the maids almost felt sympathy for the workers while watching a game that could only be called a one-sided massacre.
Before the battle began, they sneered at the useless arrogance of the workers, but after seeing the boring battle, they could only suppress the yawning curiosity and started cheering on the Parupatra team.
"If it's one side like this, I really don't know what to say."
"...No hidden ace?"
"Didn't they try to use summoning magic before?"
"Level 3?"
"Isn't it too weak to be considered an ace? But trying to build a wall with summoned monsters is a good idea."
"I agree! If they don't constantly get attacks, they may have time to set up a strategy and build a~ formation"
"NamUN tried MENGGUnaKAn FlIGHt buy iDE yANG BAGUS SEPERTI kaTA si PAk TUA."
"It's not sure if he's trying to escape or is just planning to cast a spell out of the air..."
"...Priority targets. Not done at all."
The mysterious Magic Caster had already received critical injuries and collapsed. If one was still free, they would use either a healing magic or a potion to make the magic caster back into formation, yet everyone was too busy. As a result, the only thing the Rogue could do was protect her against the finishing blow.
"But why do they think that there are only that many Old Guard Nazaricknya?"
That's a mystery.
Do they think everything is in a way that is beneficial to them? Not because they are stupid. Perhaps it was a method of protecting oneself from some humans to gather courage and prevent himself from falling into despair.
"It seems there is no hope."
"looks like. Looks like it's gonna be over soon."
"StrATEgi laIN sePERti bertahN hiNGGA peNCUri-peNCUri laIN KemBailI MUngKIn juGA bagUs."
Everyone looked towards Entoma with a cold expression.
"Why do you think they can come back?"
"...Their own fault."
"It's too hard for them to try to get away from the Great Tomb of Nazarick."
A voice filled with wounds and something collapsing sounded loud. The combat maid-maid looked towards the source of the voice and spoke in a voice filled with disappointment.
"aH the roGUe juGA RoBOh."
"It looks like it'll be over~ soon"
"We should have let them beg for their lives on the stairs..."
"But they're really very confident. I thought they had a secret weapon."
Not sure if the rogue sprayed it, but a sharp smell of fresh blood smelled up to where the maids stood.
"baUNyA.RUm..."
Yuri stopped.
The master's command is to take the bodies without any being cut off, alive or dead. They couldn't do something that taught them to give the corpse after the insects had tasted it.
"DagIng seGAr.."
"I will ask Ainz-sama later, so just be patient now."
"But aren't we going to get in trouble? It's basically a test to see how effective they are at exterminating the ones trying to escape."
"It looks like it! That's why so many powerful undead are hiding in the walls."
"KeliHATAnNYA CoCYtUs-sAma mEmPErhITunGKan baHWa diA aKAn meNAngKAp meREka DEngAN muDaH."
"...Attacking directly. Unexpected."
"That's what happens when you don't analyze your opponent's strength properly. As for the one person who is still alive, let's heal them and send them to the interrogation room. For the dead, let's report to Ainz-sama."
That way, Parupatra and his team disappear from the world that night.
Part 2[edit]
"Start attacking again!"
Greenham's shout echoed throughout the basement filled with the smell of fungus and death.
The room was about twenty meters wide and five meters high. In the middle of the room was filled with light made from a magic caster and torches dropped to the ground, there was a human silhouette.
Together with Greenham, 'Heavy Masher' is cornered. The interior was filled with lower class undead like zombies and skeletons.
Their numbers are amazing.
Greenham and a warrior holding a shield retreated from the death wave that spilled into the back of the formation.
A zombie swung its arm towards Greenham's full plate armor. Although if there was an undead that was stronger than an average human, it still could not create the indentation of the steel armor. The rotting hand exploded and patches of rotten-smelling flesh stuck to the armor.
The skeletons are the same. With only rusty weapons, they could not break through the full plate armor coupled with magic. Maybe someone is lucky and can stab the plate, but that's why it is added with magic.
Greenham swung his axe horizontally and downed one man, but more undead came filling the gap. The horde was getting closer as if trampling them with numbers.
"Damn it! They're too many!"
The warrior holding a shield beside Greenham shouted in an unnatural voice. Thanks to his large shield that covered his entire body, he was unharmed, but the shield was infused with all sorts of dirty liquids. He smashed the skulls of the skeletons with his mace weapon, but was slowly pushed back.
"Where did they all come from?"
The curiosity of the Warriors was natural.
Greenham's team has been looking into several rooms after being separated from the rest of the team at the crossing. Unfortunately, there weren't many treasures like in the mausoleum, but after finding a sizable chunk of precious objects lying around just like that, they slowly searched further afield. When they entered this room to take a look, the door suddenly opened and undead began to flow inwards.
One zombie or a skeleton by itself was not a difficult opponent, but their numbers were the problem. Although they collapsed or were trampled, they did not die, but the undead would be able to reach the rear wings. Of course, the rear wing was not that easy to destroy anyway, but against this much number, it was hard to say.
With a bit of misfortune, the front row would soon collapse. Greenham thought about this, and decided to use the power he had saved.
"We'll finish this in a moment. I leave it to you."
The rearguard, who had only thrown rocks so far, started moving.
For Greenham's 'Heavy Masher', undead like this isn't a threat. But since they were not the real threat, he tried to save power by making the rear row as a backup. If the back row also attacked, the undead were no longer a problem.
"My Lord, the god of the earth! Please expel this heinous one!"
The cleric who was holding the holy symbol shouted while unleashing holy power. The air that was filled with negative aura was instantly clean and filled with freshness as if a fresh breeze had just passed by. A surge of holy power, stronger than usual, flowed out from that cleric.
As soon as the ability was activated, the undead surrounding the cleric turned to ashes.
Expelling undead usually only makes them run away, but if there is an absolute difference in strength, it will make the undead disappear. However, it was extremely difficult to annihilate a large number of undead as it required an equivalent amount of strength as well.
As a result, over twenty undead were crushed.
"fly away! [Fireball]!"
A fireball flew from the direction of the magic caster and exploded amidst the undead hordes. A pillar of fire appeared for a moment and burned the fake life of the undead that existed within the radius of its effect.
"It's not finished yet! [Mirball]"
"My Lord, the god of the earth. Please expel this heinous one!"
The attack with the effect of the area attacked again and the number of undead that collapsed increased drastically.
"Let's go."
"All right!"
The warrior ignored his shield, clasped two maces and jumped into the undead horde along with Greenham. It should have been easy to leave everything to the magic caster, but the reason Greenham broke through was so that they could store as much mana as possible. Especially for the cleric, who could only fend off undead by a certain amount and only a few times in a day. Since it was such a powerful job against the undead, he would be their ace when they were inside the tomb.
Greenham swung his axe towards the zombie horde. Rather than blood, viscous fluid gushed out from the slash wound, - the liquid would spurt if they had a heart-flowing slowly out. From the slash wound came a disgusting smell, yet it was not something they could not handle.
To be more precise, their noses were already numb.
Together with the warriors, they attacked, attacked and attacked. They did not think about defense even for a moment. It was the sort of attack they could make saying their hard armor was backed with magic, plus the undead were indeed weak.
One moment, one undead managed to strike Greenham's head, but his armor absorbed all the vibrations and there was no tension in his neck. Even though he was attacked in the chest or stomach area, he barely felt it.
Their opponents were lower class undead. They only became a threat due to the numbers, yet since they had already cleared so many undead, they found a little breathing space once again. The warrior shouted while swinging his weapon.
"Until now, we have only fought the weakest, but considering their numbers, there must be plenty in this tomb!"
"Yeah, and it's also not strange if a stronger undead appears and is still crawling somewhere! But I don't know why they haven't come out!"
The one who retaliated was the cleric who took the warrior shield while keeping an eye on the situation.
"...Perhaps all these undead were the result of summon. Maybe through a magic summon or an item."
As these undead corpses fragmented after some time, they were not enough to fill the entire room with corpses. These undead corpses also disappeared in a manner similar to those summon-generated monsters. That's why the magic caster interrupts.
"Sort of mechanism that summons a large number of lowly undead?... I don't want to think about it. Don't make me imagine this tomb is filled with zombies everywhere."
Greenham retorted and looked around the room while scattering the skeleton's head as if he were trimming a tree. The number of undead left could be counted with two hands, and the wide-open door showed no sign of reinforcements from the undead. The fight will be over soon.
Just then, he felt a sensation of coldness flowing from under his feet.
He senses a danger that tells him to run away, but it will be too late in this situation.
"The danger! Everything out of the room"
Rogue screamed as if she felt the same way.
But it's too late. The hard floor suddenly disappeared. A floating sensai enveloped their bodies and a few heartbeats then their bewildered bodies landed on the ground.
Greenham heard a groan from his comrades, but stood with his axe that was not released when he fell and attacked the skeletons that were rolling on the ground.
"Stop them!" because undead receive damage when falling - the skeletons are indeed weak against impact damage, therefore they receive significant damage when falling - it is easy to wipe them clean.
Greenham looked around the room after clearing the entire undead.
They had fallen into a magic trap that made the floor disappear. Looking up, the roof was far above them. At least twelve feet above. Three meters above the floor was a door, and three meters above it, a total of six meters, there was a door when they first entered. They fell about two floors in total.
If explained the shape as a whole, like a long pillar. At the bottom is shaped like an upside-down pyramid, and the slope is quite steep making someone fall to be squeezed into the middle by all the zombies that fall.
It was amazing that no one was injured after falling from such a height.
The strange thing about the layout was that it was about three meters above from below where there was a closed door. There were four tunnels on each side, a total of sixteen.
"This room is almost designed to drown people. It was as if there was water that would start flowing in large quantities from that door. No, worse, it could have been a slime-like monster."
"I agree. We have to search around that door to see if it's safe enough to get out."
However, it is difficult to climb two floors up with a slippery surface without anything to hold. Rogue might be able to climb it without hindrance, but for someone wearing armor like Greenham, it was impossible. In comparison, the door below is unknown, and may be dangerous, but it will be easier to reach.
As they discussed how to climb up, something popped up his head from one of the sixteen tunnels. It was a bloated corpse, the 'Plague Bomber'.
The reason why he swelled up was because the monster was filled with negative energy. It was an undead that would explode to death when dealing damage to living beings and healing undead.
The undead was built like a wedge of daing that had thrown itself out of the tunnel. It hit the floor with a disgusting sound, but the problem was the one that came next. His round body could not gain traction against the sloping floor and crashed into Greenham's team like a boulder.
"Revelation! Move over!"
"Don't say that to the person responsible for all thinking."
Everything, including the magic caster who was about to cry, could barely avoid the undead as it continued to roll towards the center of the floor. When the next plague bomber peeked, they realized that it was only the first of a horde and instinctively knew what was coming next.
"Run! This room will be filled with them."
If anyone is pushed by the undead, they will fall to the middle and squashed under the bodies. Although they will not die from being squashed, they will not be able to move and continue to receive negative damage given by the plague bomber when it explodes due to the attacks of their colleagues.
"This trap is really cruel. Somebody push me up!"
"There's no meaning, then that person won't be able to avoid any attack."
Even if they avoided the first attack, they would lose their balance and would not be able to avoid the next one. Asking someone for a booster in such a situation is cruel.
"Then I will use flying magic!"
"Not bother with 'Flight'! You can't pull us all out alone."
"It's not so! Damn, they're falling! I'm talking about 'Web Ladder' (Netting Ladder)."
"That sounds good! Please, go to the nearest door. Greenham, please protect him!"
"Don't, don't! We're going to the original door! That door is dangerous!"
There was no time to ask the rational reason behind why he thought the door was dangerous, but their belief in Greenham was absolute.
"[Web Ladder!]"
The magic is active and the spider web spreads to the wall.
Magic spider webs surrounded a strange sticky nature. If a person does not want to move, he will stick to it, but if someone wants to move, the net will immediately release it. It was a magic that was very suitable as a substitute for stairs.
Greenham's team climbs in perfect motion, despite being overshadowed by their fear.
The one that had almost arrived at the open door was the first time it was surveying the area. If they are pushed back, then it can be bad later.
He breathed a sigh of relief. The worst-case scenario has been avoided and there are no signs of undead. After he finished the examination of going undead, he jumped towards the tunnel and pulled the people who were below.
"We're alive! I don't think we almost died squashed by the undead, it must be one of the worst deaths there."
"The design of this place is really evil. My leg hurts from the fall, give me a little magic healing."
"I think the negative energy slightly scratched the tip of the foot when the creature exploded. Really scary."
"We're lucky. But please don't ask the magic caster to dodge the attack again."
Everything is complete while taking a break to take a breath.
"Oi, Greenham, why do you want to avoid that door? I thought that door was the real one. They usually always have a blurred route close to a dangerous place."
"Just a hunch... Will you throw a useless weapon at that door?"
Greenham replied in a casual tone and the rogue threw a knife at the door. The knife floated straight and appeared as if he had hit the door, but as the door spewed out a tentacle and thickened the thrown knife earlier.
"That is. a 'Mirror of the Door'! No, considering the color of its tentacles, it might just be the Undead Fake Door. A monster that binds its opponent with sticky tentacles while attacking them."
"Che, that's a double trap? So mean. But you did manage to find out."
"It was just a hunch. No, rather, I just choose what I know rather than what I don't know. Plus, the door was in a position where he would continue to receive outbursts of negative energy. Objects that are not living beings such as doors will receive less damage from the explosion, but I wonder why they made a door down there. Now, let's move..."
Greenham closed his mouth in the middle of the sentence. The talkative Rogue now raised her finger to her lips and focused on listening.
As Greenham listened, he could hear an unusual clack sound, like something was being smashed onto the floor.
Everyone turned towards the tunnel where the sound source came from.
"Maybe the enemy? I hope they at least let us rest for a moment."
"Yeah, and there's only one. There was no sign of trying to hide himself either. It would be great if this was the last one...."
Everyone slowly raised their weapons. The warrior standing in front received the shield and hid half of his body behind the shield. The magic caster prepares its glittering wand to launch an attack at any time in the direction of the sound's origin. Cleric also prepared his holy icon and rogue directed his bow.
Clack, clack. The voice slowly grew louder and the enemy appeared.
Old, yet luxurious robes covered the limbs, which were as thin as a young girl, and held a staff in one hand. This is the source of that voice.
With only a thin layer of decayed skin, the face seemed to have a very vile policy then a negative aura that surrounded the body like a fog.
It was an undead magic caster. Name is-
"-Elder's Lich!"
The magic caster who recognized the monster shouted for the first time.
That's absolutely true. A monster that appears when the corpse of an evil magic caster gets an unholy life. It was such a vicious monster.
Greenham's comrades instantly changed formation when they heard 'Elder Lich'. No one stood in a row and they kept their distance from each other just in case of magic with a wide area effect.
Elder Lich is a strong opponent. It would be extremely challenging for platinum-ranked adventurers, and relatively beatable for mythril-ranked adventurers. For Greenham's team, if someone ignores their fatigue, it's an opponent they can easily beat. Fortunately, they also had a member who was especially powerful against the undead, so they were confident.
Plus if the opponent is very far away once, it will be dangerous, but the distance between them is advantageous.
"You must be the master of this tomb."
Greenham came to that conclusion. Elder Lich is the ruler. Once they controlled a horde of undead and sometimes made exchanges with living beings.
There were many ill-known Elder Lichs such as the captain of a ghost ship that slid across the Katze plains, or an Elder Lich who controlled an abandoned castle. If it was the Elder Lich, then it was not strange to think he was the master of such a tomb.
"We got the right address. Fortunately."
"Although killing the owner of this tomb is not part of the request."
"Let's show him the power of 'Heavy Masher'."
"Kneel before the blessing of the Lord!"
All his friends were screaming together. It was to disperse the fear of facing a strong opponent like Elder Lich.
"Magic persisting-"
Greenham tried to shout the command to his comrades with determination, but was surrounded by a gripping feeling. The source of this gripping feeling was the powerful opponent standing before them, Elder Lich.
"...What's he doing?"
"Is he planning...for a surprise attack?"
Elder Lich showed no signs of movement against Greenham's team. He did not lift his staff, nor cast any spells, but simply observed them.
Greenham's colleagues couldn't hide their shock at this. Their expectations of a direct battle had been shattered. But they also hesitated to attack first.
The Undead have feelings of hatred for all living beings. Yet undead with a certain intelligence were able to suppress their resentment to negotiate. If a living being offered a negotiation, it would usually end up in a bad exchange, however if the undead are making the bidding first or maybe are aware of their abilities and are looking for a way to settle things peacefully.
Considering these factors, it would be foolish to attack first because it would destroy any opportunity for negotiation. A tough fight without having an exit route carries great risk.
Greenham's colleagues looked at each other as if they had come to the same conclusion.
It is the duty of the leader to speak as a representative.
"Excuse me, we believe you are the owner of this tomb. We are-"
Elder Lich turned a bad face apparently towards Greenham and raised his bone-dwelling finger towards his lips.
Meaning: Shut up.
It was not an act that suited an Elder Lich, yet no one was brave enough, no, no one was foolish enough to say something like that towards a strong opponent.
Greenham closed his mouth obediently. Inside the hallway filled with silence, he doubted his ears when he heard the 'voice' again.
the clacky voice he heard shortly. It sounded like something was being knocked towards the floor. And there are six.
Tim Greenham saw each other. They do not believe their sweat.
And everything finally panicked.
"Who is it! Who said Elder Lich is the master of this tomb?"
"I'm sorry! That's me!"
"What'sthis? How could this be natural?"
"Oiiiii, how can we win against this!"
"Even God's blessings have limits!"
Behind the first Elder Lich, similar monsters appeared. There are six people.
In total there is a very powerful undead magic caster tip.
As long as they were monsters of the same type, they had similar methods in attack. In other words, if one had a path of neutralizing their attacks, it was theoretically possible to defeat all of them. However, no one had such a method, nor could they possibly have such a method.
In this desperate situation, Greenham and his comrades lost all fighting spirit.
"Then let's start."
Followed by the voice of Elder Lich who did not even show the slightest desire to negotiate, the tip of the stick rose slowly. At the same time, Greenham's screams echoed.
"Run!"
As if waiting for the order, they all ran with all the power in the opposite direction of the Lich Elders. naturally they did not have time to think anymore about what was behind the tunnel. They were just looking for an opportunity to increase safety against the onslaught of the Lich Elders.
Rogue ran ahead, then Greenham, then magic caster, then cleric and finally warrior.
They all ran without hesitation.
An angle. Usually they would be wary of the monsters that were around the corner, but considering the footsteps coming from behind them, there was no longer any time to carefully look around before leaving. They gave it all to luck and just ran.
On the other side of the passageway, there was a door made of stone, yet they were afraid of meeting a dead end and did not want to bother opening it.
A loud metallic sound echoed throughout the passageway from the person wearing full plate armor, who could attract other monsters, but there was no time to cast the 'Silence' spell'.
They run and run and run.
After turning from corner to corner and running down the tunnel at full speed, they had lost their way and could no longer recognize where they were. If possible, they wanted to run back to the entrance, yet they could not relax yet.
"Are they still after us?"
Greenham asked while still running. The reply came from the warrior who was at the back.
"Yeah! They ran away too!"
"Damn it!"
"Stop chasing us! Just use magic flight!"
"If they use flying magic, then they can attack while following us, you fool!" "Let's lock ourselves in a room and negotiate..."
Magic caster shouted while gasping. He was the weakest physically of all the members and looked as if he was about to collapse. Greenham decided this was not the way to go. They won't be able to last much longer.
Undead monsters like Elder Lich did not feel anything like exhaustion. In this case, they will certainly be able to catch up and finish off the exhausted workers.
"How can so many Elder Lich..."
It was something that had already rejected the natural thing.
"Is the master of this tomb something even stronger than Elder Lich!?"
That's the only explanation I can think of. But does such an undead exist? Greenham has no answer.
"Damn it! Fucking tomb!"
The warrior behind shouted while breathing hard.
As if waiting for this moment, the floor began to shine forming something. Big enough to encircle the entire Greenham group.
"Aragh!"
The voice of a person sounded with a voice like a scream
- then there is a sensation of floating, different from when they fell before.
Greenham's vision displayed nothing but darkness. There was something crackling violently under his feet and he felt a slow drowning sensation, as if he was being sucked into a swamp. He was a little panicked, yet it did not seem too deep as he stopped sinking after he was submerged around the waist.
Greenham makes a sound in a world dominated by darkness and silence, like a child lost in search of his parents.
"...Is there someone here?"
"Here, Greenham."
The voice of one of his comrades, the rogue, sounded. He doesn't sound too far. Maybe in the same distance as when they were running.
"...Is there anything else?"
There's no reply. That's the alleged answer. Considering the absence of light, the magic caster or warrior did not seem to be here. He should have considered lucky at least there was a rogue with him.
"...It looks like it's just us."
"That means... Che, I think you're right."
He looked around taking one step forward. In him the darkness was everywhere and made a fear that he could not recognize where he was now and where this darkness began. There were no signs of movement anywhere.
"Do we have to turn on the lights?"
"certain."
He wondered if their movements would break this silence, or activate a trap, and other negative thoughts were crawling in, he said, the human eye cannot see in the darkness and they need some kind of light source.
"Wait a minute."
With Rogue's voice, a kind of movement sound came from the darkness and there was a light.
The sight of the rogue holding a shining trunk was the first to appear. And various objects that reflect light. Reminds him of the treasure within the mausoleum.
But that's not it.
Greenham could barely contain his screams and the rogue looked as if he was about to have a heart attack.
The light carries a variety of reflections. The insects that filled the entire room and its identity were reflections of many cockroaches. The room was filled with cockroaches with a wide range from those as big as a little finger to those that were over a meter long. Moreover, they stacked on top of each other in layers.
The crumpled sensation and the sound on his legs was a cockroach. Assuming they had climbed up to his plate, he did not want to imagine how many they were.
The room was huge, the light did not even reach the walls. Taking into account the effective area of the radiant trunk about fifteen meters wide, he could roughly assume how vast the interior was. When he looked up at the rooftop, he could see a large horde of cockroaches reflected by the light.
"Place...what is this?"
The rogue muttered with a groaning tone. Greenham can understand what it's like. He felt that if he spoke, they would all start moving at once.
"What's really going on?"
Looking around in fear, Greenham recalled the last moments before they were teleported into the darkness. He thought about it with a glowing magic circle and asked rogue.
"...Was it a floor trap?"
"Maybe it's not so. Was that something else? A different spell...?"
"A magic trap with a teleportation type... Maybe Elder Lich activated it?"
Teleportation Magic does exist. For example, the level 3 magic used to blur, 'Dimensional Move', was one of them, yet the shaman could only use that on him. Magic like this, which can be used to others, and many people even...
"There are level 5 and 6 magic that can teleport a group of people at once, right?"
"Yeah. I guess so."
"I didn't think they could use this kind of magic..."
Beings that could use tier 5 magic at least. It's unheard of. Greenham thought it natural. If there were such a strong person, then it was only natural that he could master many Elder Lich at once and since they were intelligent, they would be easier to control and be ruled over as well.
Greenham realized the real danger present in this tomb and a cold sensation filled his body. At the same time, the hatred towards the Earl who had made this work began to boil deep within his body. Of course, the people who took this job were Greenham and the other workers, and they had to risk their lives as betting chips against all the risks. They can't say anything more about it.
But the Earl must have some information regarding the tomb. Otherwise, he would not have offered such a very significant amount of money to gather the workers.
"Did he keep it from us on purpose? Damn it... Let's get out of here fast. This place isn't something we're supposed to mess with."
"Alright, Greenham. You lead, I'll follow you."
The rogue seems unconscious, or perhaps it's better if he doesn't notice it.
Greenham looked around at the cockroaches surrounding him. Considering their slightly moving antennas, they do not die, but they do not move anyway. Full of unknown dangers.
"No, you can't escape."
The third person's voice sounded.
"Who's there?"
Greenham and Rogue looked around, but there was no sign of movement anywhere.
"Ah, I'm sorry. This was Kyouhukou, who was entrusted with guarding this territory by Ainz-sama. Nice to meet you."
In the direction where the voice came from, they saw a strange sight. Pushing a horde of cockroaches, something was trying to climb.
It was not a distance that could be reached with close combat weapons. Rogue secretly prepares her bow and Greenham tries to take out the catapult and the stone, but decides something else. He would soon cross the cockroaches that were climbing towards his waist and instantly slash at the enemy.
What appeared after pushing the entire cockroach was another roach.
But it is very different from other species. This cockroach is about thirty centimeters tall and stands on two legs.
Wearing a bright red robe with luxurious gold thread embellishments on its periphery and a cute little golden crown on its head. His front legs clasped a scepter (a small stick commonly held by kings) with a pure white jewel attached to the tip.
The strangest thing of all was that despite standing on two legs, his head was facing Greenham and Rogue. If an ordinary insect stood up, its head would definitely face the sky. Yet the strange creature in front of them was nothing like it at all.
Greenham and Rogue exchanged glances and decided that Greenham would take responsibility with his negotiations. After making sure the rogue had mounted an arrow and pointed it towards the bottom, he spoke towards Kyouhukou.
"Who...you?"
"Hmmm... It looks like you didn't hear me. Do you want me to introduce myself again?"
"No, that's not the problem..."
Greenham realized this was not some kind of creature to talk to or ask.
"...I'll be honest. Do you want to make an exchange?"
"Oh-ho, you want to make an exchange. Since I feel so grateful to both of you, there's no reason why I didn't listen to your offer."
The mysterious phrase, "feeling grateful", made him uneasy at what he was grateful for, yet it was not something he could ask for in such an unfortunate situation.
"..What we want is for you to release us unharmed from this place."
"Of course, it's something you want. But even though you did leave this room, you are currently on the 2nd floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. I must advise you that it will be very difficult to return to the land."
Second floor
Greenham's eyes were wide open with that sentence.
"So the door behind the mausoleum on the surface leads to the 1st floor?"
"Is that unusual?"
"No, I just wanted to make sure."
"Haha, since you guys have already been teleported from the 1st floor, I can understand your confusion."
Looking towards Kyouhukou who was nodding towards the layout of his structure, Greenham felt a chill run down his spine, as if a drop of frozen water pierced his back. It was a fear that arose from realizing his previous theory was indeed true.
In other words, something was somehow using teleportation magic as a trap. What kind of magic is that and what kind of magic ability is needed? He was not a magic caster, yet he was well aware of the full implications.
"...Of course, if you could tell us the way out of this tomb anyway... Hmmm, no we didn't ask for that much. Let us out of this room."
"Hmmm hmmm."
"We'll give you whatever you want."
"Is that so..."
Kyouhukou nodded and looked as if he was concentrating his thoughts.
A few moments passed with absolute silence. Then Kyouhukou nodded as if he understood and started talking.
"This one already has whatever it wants in its hands. I doubt you can give me what I want."
Kyouhukou stopped Greenham, who was about to speak, by raising his front leg and continuing.
"But you seem confused as to why I was thanking you earlier, so I wanted to give you an explanation. You know, my subordinates are tired of cannibalism. For you, what will be food will be the solution, I thank you once again."
"What!"
The moment Rogue understood what he had said he fired his arrows. The arrow flowed through the air but was wrapped around Kyouhukou's red robe and fell to the ground.
The room began to tremble.
Various sounds began to come from all over the jams and grew louder.
A tidal wave exploded. It was a black ocean wave.
"It may be a pity for both of you, but now is the time for you to be dinner."
Giant tidal wave swallows Greenham and rogue. It was like they were swept away by the current.
Rolling around in the black vortex, Greenham patted the cockroaches who had managed to crawl into the gaps in his armor. No weapon could work well against such a small insect horde, nor had a method for attack with area effects. It is faster to use your hands than others. Therefore, they had already ignored their long-lost weapons.
...
...
He tried his best and waved wildly, but due to the uncountable number of cockroaches clinging to him, he could barely move. It was a gesture similar to someone drowning. The only sounds Greenham could hear were the incalculable cockroaches crawling.
Rogue was swept away by the waves and her voice was no longer heard. No, it was natural that Greenham could not hear his voice. The rogue could not speak to all the cockroaches crawling in his mouth, throat and stomach.
Greenham felt a painful piercing sensation from all over his body. It was the pain from the cockroaches that entered into his armor and slowly bit him.
"Stop-off"
Greenham tried to scream but was immediately choked by the amount of cockroaches that flooded his mouth and clogged his throat. He tried to spit it out with all his might, but the cockroaches kept crawling in from the small hole in his mouth. Then they scratched in his mouth.
As one of them crawled into his ears, the rustling sound was very clear and loud enough to give him fear.
countless cockroaches crawled and bitten at his face. He felt pain in his eyelids, yet did not dare to open his eyes. It was obvious what would happen if he opened his eyes once.
Greenham understood what was going to happen to him. In that case, he would be eaten alive by these starving cockroaches.
"I don't want this!"
He cried out in despair and the cockroaches flowed into his mouth once more. They crawled, trying to move down his throat. Then something soft, a sensation of something falling into his stomach made him want to vomit.
Greenham withstood all his strength. He did not want this kind of death.
He had already strived for the status he had gained with one goal to show off to his brothers.
He had already raised enough money to be able to live comfortably without having to work again. Thanks to his fame, he was able to marry a beautiful girl that could never be found in an ordinary village. He has been a victor in a life that has so far surpassed his brothers who have not given a shred of their wealth and expelled him.
He doesn't want to die here.
"Abrrvajafy! I'll come back alive!"
He shouted while spewing crumpled cockroaches in his mouth.
"...You held yourself back bravely. Then I'll give you more."
Even Greenham's screams were buried behind the black vortex in an instant.
Eyes open.
What appeared within his vision was a strange roof. It was made of stone and had a white sparkling object stuck there. He tried to look around to understand how he got there, but realized his head was not moving at all. No, not just his head, but he could not move his entire body. It was as if something was binding on his wrists, legs, waist and chest.
This incomprehensible situation filled him with fear and he wanted to scream, but something seemed to be stuck in his mouth, so he could neither speak nor shut his mouth.
As he tried desperately trying to look around with his forced eyes, a voice spoke.
"Oh my goodness, are you awake now?"
It was a raucous voice. It was hard to tell whether the voice belonged to a man or a woman.
What appeared within his unmoving gaze was a disgusting monster.
The monster had a human body, but a deformed octopus head. Six long wriggling tentacles stuck to his head extending to the thighs.
Her skin color was milky white, like the tender flesh of someone who had drowned. On the body that was swollen like a corpse there were clothes made of black leather that could barely cover anything. Clothes that wrapped tightly around his body, like a butcher wrapped around meat, and could only be called out to be very strange. If a beautiful woman wears it, it will look attractive, but for a monster like this makes you want to vomit.
On each of his hands were four fingers that had a membrane. Long nails, with weird nail art in there.
This strange heteromorphic creature twists its milky blue eyes that do not have the pupuil on it.
"Fufufu, are you sleeping well?"
"Hff, hff, hff, hff."
...
...
Fear and panic. Gripped by those two emotions, he could only let out a rough breathing sound. The monster touched her flat tenderly like a mother trying to calm her frightened child. But the cold and flaccid feeling of the hand was channeled all over his body.
It was natural that the smell of sharp blood or rotting flesh floated there, but the creature smelled like a scented flower. It just increases his fear.
"Well, I didn't think it would wrinkle this much. There's no need to be afraid."
The monster looked towards the bottom of his body. From the sensation of the air on his skin, he realized he was naked.
"Hmm, may I ask your name?"
The monster placed its slender fingers on its cheeks and tilted its head while asking. The pose would look good if it was done by a beautiful woman, but a monster that looked like a drowning corpse with an octopus head only made a sense of disgust and fear.
"...."
The monster smiled at himself, who could only move his eyes. The tentacles covered his mouth and his expression barely changed. Even so, he knew the monster was smiling as his marbles-like eyes were getting smaller.
"Ufufu, you don't want to talk, do you? So sweet. Don't be ashamed."
The tip of the monster's finger slid across his chest as if writing something, but all he could feel was the fear that felt as if his heart had been torn out.
"Onee-san will tell you her name is D.A.H.U.L.U."
It was a sweet and seductive tone that sounded like a heart symbol would fly out of it.
"I'm the information-gathering Specialist of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, Neuronist. Hehe, they also call me 'Interrogator'."
The long tentacles wriggled apart and showed a round mouth at the base of the tentacles. In the middle of the razor-sharp teeth, a tube similar to the tongue comes out. It really looks like a red straw.
"I'll suck you dry with this a little bit."
What does the creature mean by 'sucking dry'? He tried to move the body of his panicked leg, but the body was tightly clamped.
"Well, you've been caught by us."
Thas right. His last memory was of Greenham and the rogue disappeared right in front of him. Then he fainted and woke up in a dangerous state at the moment.
"You should know where you are, right?"
The neuronist laughed before continuing.
"This is the Great Tomb of Nazarick. The place where the last of the 41 Supreme Being, Momon - I mean Ainz-sama, lived. This is the holiest place."
"Heinhu sawa?"
"Yes, Ainz-sama."
The neuronist understood it perfectly even though he could not speak properly and launched his finger all over his skin.
"One of the 41 Supreme Being. He led the other Supreme Being in the past, and he was very, very cool. If you see it once, you will want to swear allegiance with all your heart as well. If Ainz-sama just once called me to his bed, I wouldn't mind offering my first night to him."
He was agitated, no, shaken as if embarrassed.
"Hey, do you want to hear something?"
Like a timid girl who was playing with her fingers, she wrote a sentence on her naked body.
"There was one time Ainz-sama looked at my body. It was the gaze of a man who chose his hunting target. Then he turned his face away as if embarrassed. It made my chest tighter and sent a chill down my back."
The monster suddenly stopped and brought its face closer as if it was trying to look deep into his eyes. He tried with all his strength to escape from that strange face, yet he could not move his body at all.
"Even though Shalltear and the ugly pumpkin Albedo were aiming for Ainz-sama's attention, I was still more interesting, didn't I?"
"Wevs E wnph mahs hoo" (Yes, I feel so too.)
What happens if he disagrees? The fear forced him to moan in agreement.
The neuronist clapped his hand and looked up happily into the air. The monster looked like it was praying to the sky.
"Fufufu, you are a good boy. Or are you talking about facts? But why didn't Ainz-sama call me.. Ah~ Ainz-sama..."
The way his body changed in joy was similar to the movements of the squirming giant maggots.
"..Ha, it made my body feel like it was electrocuted. Ara, I'm sorry. I've been talking about myself."
Don't mind me. The neuronist ignored his thoughts and continued.
"Now, do I have to tell you your fate? Do you know what the choir is?"
He blinked with an unexpected question. Looking towards the surprised expression, the Neuronist assumed he did not know what the choir was and explained.
"A choir is a group of people singing hymns praising the love of the god and his greatness. I want you to be one of them, along with all your little friends."
If that's all, then it's not a problem. He was indeed very insecure about his singing, yet he was not a tone-blind person anyway. Yet this monster was actually talking about something like singing? He could not hide his unpleasant feelings that appeared like waves and stared at the Neuronist.
"That's right, a choir. Even fools like you who have not sworn allegiance to Ainz-sama can dedicate their voices to singing praises for him. The goal is a choir. Ah, how surprising! It was the sacred music of the Neuronist dedicated to Ainz-sama."
A cloudy color spread within his disgusting eyes. Was it because the monster was excited by his thoughts? His fingers swayed like worms.
"Fufufu, now I will introduce to you who will help you in the choir from you."
As if they were waiting in a corner, several figures appeared in his vision.
He stopped breathing when he saw them. They are obviously vile creatures.
Black leather apron hung tightly on their bodies, Their skin was ghastly pale, almost transparent, and purple veins looked as if their blood was purple.
They wore tight black leather masks with no visible holes, which made him wonder how they could see or breathe. Their arms are also long. They are about two meters tall, but their arms are long enough to reach the knees.
Each of the figures wears a belt around their waist, with various equipment hanging from the belt.
There are four in number.
"They are 'Torturers' (The Tormentors). They're gonna help me make you sing a beautiful song."
Danger premonition. He finally realized what it meant to sing and tried to run away. However, he still could not move.
"Free~. It can't be destroyed by the power of someone like you. They'll give you magic healing over and over again, so you can get plenty of practice opportunities."
The neuronist said this as if he extended a hand of forgiveness to her, yet he did so in a vile tone.
"Thnd du mus!" (Don't do this!)
"mmm? Why do you say that? Do you want me to stop?"
The neuronist asked softly to the man whose tears were flowing down from his eyes. Then the six tentacles squirm.
"Looks good. Since he stayed, we, who are the creations of the 41 Supreme Being, are allowed to remain. Our existence is to serve him. Do you think that we will grant even the slightest pardon to the filthy thieves who have thrown mud into the sanctuary where His Majesty lives? Do you think so?"
"Auf lirru gwpph!" (I'm really sorry!) "Hehehe, that's right. Regret is a precious thing."
The neuronist picks up a thin stick from somewhere. At the end of the stick was a thorn that was about five millimeters long.
"Let's start with this."
Neuronists kindly explain every little detail to men who do not understand anything with this tool.
"My creator was used to suffering from a small problem called 'kidney stones'. In his honor, we'll start with this. Because it's so small, I don't think we have a problem putting it in."
"Thnd du mus!" (Don't do this!)
The neuronist brought his face closer to the man who was screaming because he realized what was happening to him.
"We're going to spend a long and long time together. You shouldn't cry, because this is just the beginning."
Part 3[edit]
Although each team takes their own path while at the intersection, the, the baseless assumption from Eruya if a stronger opponent would be in the deeper parts of this tomb was why he chose to walk straight.
He encountered many corners and stone doors, yet he continued walking without speaking. In fact, he was bored because nothing happened. There are no monsters or traps. Maybe he took the wrong route. Eruya thought while clucking her tongue.
"Forward, slow base. Walk faster!"
Eruya ordered to the elf who was walking ten meters in front of him in a pushy voice. The elf stopped every few times, but after being ordered, he trembled slightly and started walking again. He had been walking continuously ever since he came into this tomb.
The elf had indeed been lucky so far, but if there were any traps, he would definitely die.
Rather than looking for traps, the treatment he received was similar to that of canaries often used by miners. Eruya's team consists of Eruya and three efl slaves with different skills - ranger, cleric and druid. Using someone with a detection skill like a canary for mining was an unreasonable command to give.
But Eruya has his own reasons. He was just tired of the elves walking in front.
Many people would be surprised if they heard it. Not for moral reasons, but for money.
Slaves from Slane Theocracy were not cheap. Especially elves, whose prices varied drastically depending on their appearance or skill. Elves usually have prices that can make one's eyes jump because they are expensive and trade at prices that are far beyond the ability of ordinary people.
An elf who has a skill will have the same price range as a weapon given additional special magic. Even for Eruya, they were not something that could be bought on a whim.
However since Eruya took the entire payment of your Tenmu for himself, he could cover the losses quickly if his work went well. Therefore, he did not care if one of the slaves died after he got tired of them.
next time, I'll have to get that one with a big chest.
Eruya thought that while looking at the back of the elf who was walking slowly in front.
I was pleased with the way they were screaming as I squeezed their chests hard.
Since this job was a joint operation between many teams, he could not fuck the elves for several days. No one dared to protest even though he did, but jealousy could trigger all sorts of unpleasant events. Eruya has enough healthy mind as a worker to be able to realize what kind of loss will be caused.
Eruya's already restrained lust makes him bring out alternative thoughts.
No, maybe I should get someone like that woman.
The one who came into Eruya's mind was a member of 'Foresight'. The half-elf who was looking towards Eruya with hateful eyes.
She's a really annoying woman.
There was a little girl beside him in the group, but Eruya could understand that the little girl would inevitably look at him with a blatant sense of hostility. It is natural for a woman to not understand the desires of men, and especially someone of such an age as that little girl, it is still understandable if the girl has a certain hatred towards sexual acts. Yet it is unacceptable for a lowly being to see a human with such hateful eyes.
Just thinking about it had already made Eruya's face angry.
I want to beat that annoying face up until it can't fight anymore...
For the elven slaves, they were destroyed by all sorts of methods before being sent to the customer. There was no way the elven slaves would show any meaningful resistance.
On the other hand, if he targeted the half-elf, he would fight like a mad beast. For Eruya, it was not difficult to destroy and master a savage beast, yet he would not come out with a smooth body and he did not have a great sense of confidence to be able to conquer his prey alive. While imagining herself slapping Imina continuously on her head, she was unaware that the elf who was leading the way had stopped.
"Who told you to stop? Keep walking."
"[Grueling]...! I heard a voice from there."
"Sound?"
Eruya constricted her hearing while frowning at the elf. The silence was almost deaf.
"...I didn't hear anything."
Usually he would definitely beat up the elves, but the elves had superior hearing than humans. Although Eruya had not heard anything, there was a good chance the elves could hear something. To be sure, he asked the two elves behind him.
"What about you? Did you hear it?"
"Y-Yeah. I can hear it."
"It-It was like the sound of metal clashing with metal."
"...Is that so."
It was impossible for the sound of metal to be heard naturally. Someone must have made that sound. In other words, his first chance of getting a fight since entering into this tomb. He was happy with the shadow.
"Let's go forward to where this voice came from."
"Y-Yes."
With the elven slaves leading the way, Eruya headed to where the voice came from. Soon after, Eruya could hear the sound of metal as well. It was followed by the sound of something violently attacking other loud materials and the sound of battle cries.
"Well, I guess it's just another worker. The tunnel doesn't seem to turn at any point, but I think we're going to meet another team."
It was as if someone had poured cold water to his delight. He breathed as if he had lost all motivation.
"Well, I don't think there's any harm. I can fight as their reinforcements."
When Eruya arrived at where the voice came from, she had a strange feeling. It was a strange feeling with a battle. That's like-that's
His curiosity was answered when he turned from the corner.
The room was wide, large enough to fit ten people running around freely. Inside were ten lizardmen wearing exquisite armor. They all wore necklaces around their necks, with each of them holding a broken chain.
They swung swords at each other. They attacked each other with shrill cries and banging battles filled with determination. Occurring throughout the room.although it looked like a fierce battle, Eruya could tell this was just a practice.
One of the other creatures in the room was a giant figure with a shield shaped like a tower, wearing black full plate armor with decorations that looked as if it was covered by blood vessels. And the last one - no, the last one is more accurate.
It was a gigantic ferocious beast covered in silver feathers, with wisdom glittering in its eyes.
"You've arrived, mr. intruder."
There were a lot of annoying monsters among them that could speak. Magical beasts tend to attack using physical exertion, but the ones with intelligence often use magic.
Eruya knew he was a genius swordsman, yet he was not confident in magic. He strengthened his resolve and strengthened his heart to fight magic.
"And you are?"
No need to ask. If he had been waiting here, then he must have been something guarding this tomb. The only question is how strong he really is.
From the looks of it, it could be that it was the master of this tomb. If he were to defeat this ferocious beast, he would have a top contribution. That means his team will be the best of the entire team of workers. Since 'Tenmu' is actually Eruya herself, it means that she is the best worker. Even luck is an important quality for a worker.
"This king is ordered to confront you here. I have to test this and that, but it seems you're not a worthy opponent."
Eruya felt disappointed and irritated at the same time.
Disappointed because in fact this wild animal is nothing but just a guard dog and annoyed because in fact this guard dog underestimates him.
"I didn't think it would be like this even before we fought swords... You."
"Y-Yes."
The elf trembled as Eruya called out to him with a lace sound. Eruya was satisfied with the sight. That was an attitude worth showing to him. Although it was only a few days, after spending some time with Momon, who was considered high by all, he became even more generous.
"What monster is that?"
"Sa-I'm sorry, but it's bu-not a monster I know."
"Curtain, useless."
Eruya struck the useless elf with her sword sheath. Eruya ignored the collapsed elves on the floor and apologized many times to study the ferocious beasts.
Due to its size, facing it instantly seemed unfavorable, but monsters were indeed like that. And Eruya had killed many monsters without any problem. He felt foolish for a moment of fear because of a ferocious beast he had never seen before. It always takes a vigilant attitude, but being overly alert and fearful is incompetent at its own level.
"I'll ask you one more time. What makes you think you can win against me?"
"I can tell if you're weak with one look..."
Eruya frowned and clasped tightly onto his sword.
"...it looks like your eyes are useless. I want a kukorek for you."
"Please try. But my orders say it doesn't matter if I kill you here... So why don't we just start."
That calm tone. It made Eruya angry once again.
He wanted to swing his sword without saying anything, yet dashing towards a savage beast that was not worried at all would make such a weaker person. So he held back and scorned her.
"Then come on, beast."
"Then why are you just standing there like that? Don't you want to prepare the elves that are over there?"
"no need. By the way, don't you want to prepare the lizards that stand behind you?" "Ah, that's okay. They're just here to watch this king fight, don't worry about them."
"You're brave enough to have made your only chance of winning."
"I'm so grateful for your praise."
Sarcasm doesn't work. Perhaps the beast was quite intelligent talking, yet not as intelligent as that? As Eruya thought so, the beast moved its whiskers and spoke.
"However I plan to kill you mercilessly, so I hope you fight me with all your full strength. As I said before, this is also the test given to me."
"The test? Test for the guard dog?"
"Hmm~ This is a test to see if I've improved as a warrior. Now, are you ready to start? I'll leave the elves behind and face you now."
"Just your luck."
"This king's name is Hamsuke! Go to another world remembering the name of the one who killed you! Say your name too!"
"...I don't have a name to give only to animals."
"Then I will erase you from my memory as a nameless fool!"
The giant figure jumped forward.
Unexpectedly it was an agile gesture after taking into account its size. The disheveled warrior would be overwhelmed with pressure as he approached and received great damage from the attack.
I'm different from those losers.
Eruya charged towards Hamsuke who was also advancing then slid to the side without moving his legs.
It was an improved version of the martial art called 'Shukuchi', which was 'Shukuchi Kai'.
Normally, 'Shukuchi' could only be used to shorten the distance with the opponent, however, this version allowed the wearer to move freely in all directions. The appearance when sliding without moving his legs looks strange, but it is really useful. Dodging it would move the center of gravity as hard as possible and damage their balance. However, if one did not need to move to be able to dodge, then he could directly attack with full force from their lower body.
"Yahhhh!"
His sword swung down
"-Behind!"
Eruya flew backwards as if she had bounced off Hamsuke's body.
It was an unusually hard body, Eruya subconsciously examined her entire body to see if she could still move. He had minor scratches, but it did not appear to have any bones that were localized. He can still fight.
The fact that he fell to the floor and let the enemy attack touch him most enraged him, but the warrior within Eruya said that now was not the time to think about such a thing.
As soon as Eruya woke up, he looked for Hamsuke and prepared to receive his attack once again by extending his sword.
Something sticky was flowing from his nose. When he rubbed it, he made sure that it was blood as he had expected.
"Damn it..."
Hamsuke looked at Eruya, who was trying to stand up, with calm eyes. It was more accurate to say that Hamsuke was observing him.
Different from the gazes of the beasts in general who said 'Can I eat it?' or 'Can I win against him?'. It was the eyes of a warrior who was trying to decide on the best method to fight from the shootout they had done earlier.
I was a test puppet to see if a monster had already grown as a warrior? Not anyone else, but me?
It felt very unpleasant, but considering the nimbleness of the monster, Eruya had to admit that he was no ordinary monster. In an instant, this monster predicted that he would try to flank his attack, but Hamsuke could only elicit such a response after going through very rigorous training.
"It looks so... If it continues like this, I will win easily. Please do not think of this king. This king has never seen a man who has ever won against me."
"You should keep your words until the end. Unlike ordinary ferocious beasts, a warrior could use martial arts!"
Eruya thought he could win easily. That was why he was holding back, yet now, he had to be serious.
"Martial Arts! [Ability Boost], [Greater Ability Boost]!"
This was the martial art he was most proud of. Especially the [Greater Boost Ability], which was not something that an Eruya-level person could learn.
I am a genius therefore I am capable of learning something like this! I'm strong!
He swung his sword and could feel how light and gentle his movements were. The sword moved exactly as he imagined.
Eruya smiled cynically. The next round will be his.
"Hmmm~ I was taught to keep my distance when I was unsure of the strength of the opponent, but I had to fight as a warrior... I think how else."
Hamsuke rushed off with his two hind legs and approached.
"Will it be a close combat? Do I have to accept your attack?"
"Don't take me for granted, beast."
As Hamsuke entered the range, Eruya launched his attack.
Hamsuke could barely thicken the sword attack coupled with the 'Ability Boost' by using his claws. Or rather, it is more accurately said that Hamsuke tried to counteract the attack, as the sword was still heading towards Hamsuke's arm. However, the sword had lost its power after touching the claws and failed to split the hardened feathers as well as the flesh beneath.
Eruya did not draw his sword and directly thrust the sword towards Hamsuke's eyes. Some monsters with hardened blindfolds which could thicken even swords were added with ki or aura. But Hamsuke doesn't seem to have anything like it.
That's why Hamsuke didn't let the attack happen.
Hamsuke dodged it by twisting his body and swinging his tail at the same time.
Eruya held back the tail with his sword, but the staggering amount of power numbed his arm.
"Khh-urk!"
He saw Hamsuke twisting his body once again. That meant that the same force would attack Eruya again.
Eruya jumped back. He could not calculate exactly how long the tail was, but planned to shorten the distance to 'Shukichi Kai' when it was past.
But the tail he thought was about to pass stopped in mid-air.
"Nrk."
It was a trick. At the same time, Hamsuke regained his posture and pulled his tail. Eruya's face twitched due to the fact that she missed the opportunity to attack.
He could see the tail and the body moving almost independently. Like the tail of a rat, but can move on its own like a snake tail or a chimaera.
"You can use your tail freely too!"
Eruya scanned the details of the monster called Hamsuke into his brain and attacked. Hamsuke, who was waiting for a crack, rushed forward to meet the attack.
Swords and claws clashed. Eruya was the first to be injured during the attack. Hamsuke, who could attack with two claws, grasped the advantage in the number of his attacks against Eruya, who could only use one sword. The melee fight turned out to be unfavorable. Despite improving his physical abilities, Hamsuke still won. If that's the case -
Eruya immediately retreated with 'Shukichi Kai'.
"Hmph, like I said!"
Before Hamsuke chased after him, Eruya took the opportunity, raised his sword in midair and swung the sword down.
"[Void Cutter]!"
The slash split through the air and floated towards Hamsuke.
Hamsuke braced himself to protect his face and the attack was blown away by his fur.
The attack only deals less damage as the target gets further away. It's hard to be able to inflict this kind of damage. However
"It looks like you can't help it. This is the difference between an ordinary animal and a human."
"This is indeed. troubling." Eruya used the 'Void Cutter' many times.
Hamsuke feathers are hard and hard to split. That was why Eruya attacked his face and used martial arts repeatedly.
Hamsuke remained silent on the spot but spoke through a small gap between his claws that was covering his face.
"Please wait a minute"
"Are you trying to beg for forgiveness for your life? As expected of just an animal."
"It's not - it's annoying. In the mouth of this king there is - Ah, I give up!"
Eruya did not understand.
I think it's possible that a human being doesn't understand what an animal is saying.
"Ah-It's noisy and annoying! Let's get this over with!"
"Come."
Hamsuke did not have a long-range attack method, so he tried to shorten the rapids by all means. This is what Eruya wants.
It was difficult to deal critical damage with the 'Void Cutter', so he had to give a direct hit in order to deliver a deadly attack. When Hamsuke showed his face like a ferocious beast and charged in, Eruya would suppress it with martial arts that were stronger than 'Void Cutter' and continue to target the face within close range and win.
As Eruya smiled wickedly, convinced by his victory, Hamsuke's tail moved and-
"Gyaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!"
The tail struck Eruya's shoulder like a whip with unbelievable speed.
The armor on his shoulders curved and his flesh became blisters. At the same time, the sound of broken bones could be heard and the feeling of wounds flowing all over his body at lightning speed, Eruya staggered backwards while salivating.
Behind Hamsuke, a snake-like tail wriggled. The tail was stretched out at an unusual length.
"My core is too strong as I thought. That's why I'm trying to solve this with only close combat."
Pimply. Eruya could hardly help but scream.
If he continued to be attacked like this, he would lose.
"You! Why are you standing like an idiot just like that! Use your magic! Heal me! I said heal me! Hurry up, you stupid slave! Do now!"
One of the elves began to cast his spell when Eruya shouted at him.
The wound on his shoulder began to fade until it disappeared.
"Again! Give a spell to strengthen!"
Strengthen physical abilities, increase magic to the sword temporarily, harden the skin, strengthen sensor abilities.. Although many spells were cast to strengthen Eruya, Hamsuke looked on without making a sound.
With that much magic strengthening himself, a smile returned to Eruya's face.
An incredible force flowed all over his body.
Eruya had never lost after receiving so many spells to strengthen. It doesn't matter the opponent like anything.
Compared to his usual self, he was now swinging the sword at extreme speed. He was confident that he could fight equally now.
"Since monsters and humans have different physical abilities, I will fill that hole with this!"
"I was planning to fight you all from the beginning, so it wasn't so much different for me. This king thought that eventually this fight would be a good fight!"
"Omong empty!" Eruya. He would destroy the monster with incredible power flowing in his body. He would not let this beast talk arrogantly anymore. While using 'Shukuchi Kai', Eruya launched the 'Void Cutter' to keep him busy.
"Receive this!" He swung his sword with a shout. If the fur was hard, he only needed to attack harder in order to split it.
"Thank you this king [Slashing Strike]!"
Something sharp stuck in Eruya's arm from above his sword raised high.
Something floated in the air and stuck it on the ground. With the sound of liquid like a wet sack, followed by a metal impact.
Eruya did not understand His two arms, which were grasping swords, had disappeared. Even though his wound spurted blood from the buttered part along with his heartbeat, he still did not understand.
He could see his two arms tightly grasping the sword on the ground, along with the wound that was slowly sore on the rest of his arm.
As Eruya looked at those arms, Eruya finally realized what had happened.
Staggering backwards from Hamsuke, he shouted in a high-pitched voice.
"Handkuuuuuuuuuuuu! Heal it! I said heal now! What are you guys up for?"
The elves did not move.
What reflected from their cloudy eyes was the hidden joy of having been treated cruelly.
"All right! It worked! I can finally use martial arts! Now I can finally receive a compliment from my master!"
"Buck!"
Eruya made a scream that split the air.
For a human being, who lives in this world with stronger beings, adventuring means living with continuous wounds. He had to endure so many injuries now. He had been struck by lightning, burned with fire, frozen with ice, broken bones, bitten by fangs, sliced and beaten. But he never lost his weapon. Losing a weapon in this world means death. Or rather, he was confident that he could get out of any situation if he had his weapon.
And now this confidence has been destroyed.
It was the first time Eruya had received such a shock since she was born.
"My hands! What are you waiting for!"
Blood poured out nonstop and he could feel his body getting colder and heavier, starting from the injured area. The elves simply smiled widely with Eruya's shout, which was similar to the sound of a broken bell.
Eruya did not know how to let out the whirlpool of emotions that were within her, yet she could hear a voice that could be called generous.
"I'm really grateful to you! I'm not happy to give you unnecessary injuries, so I'll end it here!" Sccchk, something split the air.
Immediately after, a surprise attacked Eruya's face. It was a kind of wound that felt as if it had already shattered every bone in his body and was enough to make him forget with his hands.
It was the last wound felt by Eruya.
With half of his face missing, the corpse collapsed.
"Hmmmmm hmmm."
hamsuke turned his head and slowly retreated. If he remained near the corpse, the elves would be on their guard and not approach the corpse. The elves look like magic casters but can decide to use Eruya's sword to fight. Hamsuke doesn't want to stop them from doing it.
"Now, do you want to fight pu-?"
Hamsuke muttered his sentence in surprise. The elves kicked the corpse, which Hamsuke assumed was their companion, with their grinning faces.
"What'sthis? Is this the way elves bury the dead?"
Hamsuke doubted it as he spoke. In their cloudy eyes and there was no glint of hatred. That must be overflowing anger.
"-It's really confusing."
His command was to use the skills he had learned so far to the intruders and show the results of his training. However if he were to fight with an opponent who was not reluctant, could it be referred to as 'showing the results of the practice'? If they were to at least stand against it, it would be better than nothing.
"I hear taunting is a good strategy anyway... What am I supposed to do?I don't know... I think how else. I will wait for orders from my master. But-"
Hamsuke turned to face the one who was judging the battle.
"How was it, Zaryusu-dono? Did I graduate?"
"Yes, that's so beautiful. Martial art is really active."
Hamsuke smiled brightly at the warrior who taught him martial arts.
"It's really a chance to have fun! Then am I finally going to start doing combat training wearing armor?"
"That will be the next step. We'll start with the light armor first then move to the heavier one."
Hamsuke didn't wear armor until now. It felt too strange and difficult to move freely while wearing it. There were not many problems when running normally, but in fighting, he lost his balance when swinging his tail and could not strike accurately. That's why Hamsuke learned from the lizardmen and imitated their training to learn to fight.
"Please watch as Hamsuke becomes stronger for my master! How long does it take to call myself a warrior? Hamsuke Warrior."
"Let's see.if it's Hamsuke-san, you'll be able to call yourself a warrior for about a month, no, two months."
"Well!"
"I think it's very fast. Hamsuke-san, it usually takes one year to learn martial arts. Taking that into account, you learn martial arts very quickly."
Another lizardmen beside Zaryusu, Zenberu, spoke.
"Is that so?"
"That's right. Actual fighting experience, healing yourself when injured, fighting against stronger enemies with magic to strengthen, etc. It might be a terrible exercise, but it will pay off."
Hamsuke shaking. The other lizardmen were also so as they recalled their training so far.
"...How should I call it. I hope it's not some kind of exercise that's going to get us within one arm's reach of death."
"Personally, I feel you will become stronger faster in the situation between life and death, but I think everyone is different. Plus, if the newlywed's husband is gone, it's gonna be sad."
"Ooh! I remember you are married!"
"Yes, and she seems to be pregnant."
"As expected of a trained warrior, accuracy is indeed high! How times? Two or three times?"
Zaryusu's fist attacked Zenberu.
"Enough. If we don't start training again, we'll get a scolding. And also, what about those elves?"
"Isn't it better to just leave them like that?"
The elves who had kicked the corpse just sat weakly on the floor like puppets whose strings were broken. There were no signs of wanting to fight, so Hamsuke decided to wait for his master's orders unless they tried to run.
