The Story on the Slope of Mount Merapi

In the condition of both hands tied behind Ki Dadap was swept and pushed behind the bush. The rain still falls leaving a speck. Four men surrounded him. The first mustachioed high-body transverse that is none other than Demang Wiryoboga. On his right stands Jababaya Lampitan. The other two were Lampitan's men.

"Ki Demang," Ki Dadap's voice sounded. "Why are you taking me to the cemetery these nights?"

"Shut up! Shutup! Otherwise I tell you to talk, don't you dare to make a sound!" demang Wiryoboga. Then Ki Dadap's calf was flapped until this man almost collapsed, if only the middle-aged man was unable to control the balance of his body.

Demang Wiryoboga looked forward and then turned to Lampitan. "Where did you see the boy...?" she asked.

"Ki Demang's soon. Just be patient, Ki Demang we have to go more into the middle again." Lampitan replied.

Just now he said so suddenly from afar was a small figure, sitting in a row with empty eyes regardless of his body being soaked and dirty by the splash of mud.

"He's Sulastri Ki Demang." whispered Lampitan.

Demang Wiryoboga nodded. His eyes did not blink. He looked almost in disbelief. His son Sulastri drizzled dark nights and a cold wind blowing strong enough, came to the cemetery alone. Lampitan has previously provided reports. But he did not want to believe it if he did not see for himself. And at that moment he actually witnessed what Lampitan said that Sulastri came to the cemetery.

"Ki Dadap's!" his Demang Wiryoboga. "You see for yourself my son as if he were possessed by a demon! Come to the cemetery at night. It's all because of your fucking niece!"

"Ki Demang, I do not understand and do not know how all this can happen." replied Ki Dadap who witnessed everything that happened with goosebumps. That wretched child I kicked out this afternoon..."

"Bad! Then your niece has dragged her to this place forcibly!"

"I don't know about Ki Demang..."

"You're lying!"

"Plakkk!" Demang Wiryoboga slapped Ki Dadap's right cheek until this person was suffocating in pain.

The sound of his screeching surprised Sulastri. The boy turned. Demang Wiryoboga immediately ordered Lampitan to arrest the boy. When Lampitan came out from behind the bushes and Sulastri saw her, this girl temporarily ran away. But for a moment he was soon overtaken and held by Lampitan. Sulastri screamed as he was carried away and taken to his father's place.

"Ki Demang. I felt Sulastri sweat cold. A sign that there is an evil spirit entering his body." said Lampitan.

Though the cold sweat was due to fear which was then coupled with the spatter that soaked Sulastri. Demang Wiryoboga believes only in his watchwords.

"This man called Dadap is pointless to be left alive. The debt has not been paid off since three months. More than that, he's also the culprit of the weirdness that my son experienced, kill and bury him here"

"What are you going to do, against me?!"

In response, Demang Wiryoboga pushed Ki Dadap's body until he fell on the ground. Ki Dadap shouted loudly. Under the circumstances of both hands being bound it was impossible for him to escape. Especially at that time Demang Wiryoboga had unsheathed his keris. Then quickly stabbed Ki Dadap in the chest. The end of the keris stabbed deeply and then reached the heart. Ki Dadap's body twitched, his eyes bought wildly. Blood spurted from the wound on his chest. It splashed out mixed with the rainwater.

Without the slightest sense of sin, Demang Wiryoboga pulled the keris from the chest of Ki Dadap. Then wipe the blood that is splattered on the keris using the tip of the shirt. Sulastri who was frightened to see the incident fell unconscious in the support of his father!

Two Lampitan men immediately hoarded the grave. Soon the men jumped out of the cemetery on a wagon pulled by two horses.

Just a moment after those people had passed and vanished in the darkness of the night, suddenly from behind a swarm of bushes jumped out a figure of a body. The one who jumped this turned out to be a teenager and was none other than Gading, Ki Dadap's nephew.

"Uncle...! Uncle...!" pekik Gading while running to the red dirt mound where his uncle was killed vilely and hoarded.

Ivory dropped himself on the red ground, sobbing to his uncle. That terrible call of hers certainly didn't get an answer. His voice vanished in the gusts of wind while the drizzling rain began to torrential. Ivory did not realize how long he had been in the cemetery. When his clothes and body were soaked and the cold was pouring down his bones, slowly the boy stood up and walked away crying.

The next morning Kademangan Kedungtuban became an uproar. Inside and outside the house Ki Dadap many people crowded. Ki Dadap's wife was crying while hugging his pale-faced niece and dirty clothes full of mud and wet. To those who were there he told what had happened in accordance with what Ivory saw.

"The back of Dadap was brought! Not back to this moment! What my niece said was true. Kakang Dadap was killed and buried in Lemah Cengkar...! Killed by Demang Wiryoboga and his servants...!" As soon as Ki Dadap's wife spoke among her heartbreaking cries.

A middle-aged man approached the woman. He rubbed Ivory's head for a moment and said, "Hey, this child's story needs to be investigated first. What he said was so. I can't figure out how this kid went to the cemetery all night and said he..."

"The ivory is not a lie. This kid never lies!" ki Dadap's wife. "Lampitan last night and two of his men came here. He spoke in a snarl and forced Kakang Dadap to follow them. It turned out that Kakang Dadap was taken to the house of Ki Demang Demang Wiryoboga. There he was beaten and taken to Lemah Cengkar cemetery. This boy then witnessed his uncle being killed, stabbed with a keris and buried...!"

The middle-aged man lowered his head and asked Ivory, "Your tusk is not a lie. It's true that you saw your uncle murdered and buried...?" Ivory nodded his head and hugged his aunt tightly. The niece and aunt then both cried.

A man dressed in dark blue burst out among the crowd. He is Suto Lumpang bekel kademangan Kedungtuban. Seeing the appearance of the bekel Nyai Rukmi's cry grew louder.

"Quiet Nyai... Calm. Stop your crying.." said Suto Lumpang. "From the people outside the house I heard that your husband was taken by his accomplice Ki Demang Wiryoboga. Then your son said he saw his father killed and buried in Lemah Cengkar last night. Is that all true, Nyai...?"

Nyai Rukmi nodded.

Suto Lumpang pensively. Then he said, "It's none of His little business. If you accuse Ki Demang Wiryoboga of murdering your husband then the accusation must be proven..."

"Arya Ivory saw it!. He saw his uncle being killed by being hit with wood. Ki Demang Wiryoboga did that. Then Ki Jagabaya keeps it in the ground..."

"The testimony of this child is difficult to hold. What else according to rumors of the population of the academy that Ivory has a special relationship with the daughter of the only – Demang Wiryaboga. However, Ki Demang does not like the relationship." said Ki Bekel.

"If you do not believe.." Ivory suddenly opened his mouth, trembling "just go to Lemah Cengkar! Take down the grave. Surely uncle's body will be found!"

All the people who were there were equally moved by their hearts and equally issued a word of agreement. They urged that Suto Lumpang himself lead the journey and investigation into the cemetery of Lemah Cengkar.

"Ah this affair is getting more complicated and can plunge me!" suto Lumpang said inwardly as he rubbed his chin.

His little heart secretly believed what was happening. But because this affair is related to the name Demang Wiryoboga. Demang rich at the same time has great power because of his very close relationship with one of the higher ups in the Duchy of Jipang inevitably bekel was not calm.

Suto Lumpang turned to the crowd and said, "Well, you guys go first to the cemetery of Lemah Cengkar. I should have told this to Ki Demang Wiryoboga. I'll follow you to the graveyard..."
