The Spirit Hunter System
Gather Together

"Mr Owl ... Mr. Thomas came to see you."

Incidentally, the afternoon after Adam had taken a bath and dressed more casually, Thomas came to the headquarters of the City B branch of the Mystery Department. It seems he has managed to gather the players involved. Otherwise, he shouldn't have rushed to see Adam.

Out of the room, Adam followed James down to the first floor. The two split up in the living room. Adam just headed straight for the lounge to meet Thomas.

Up there, Adam saw the figure of Thomas sitting while enjoying tea. Although the problem was not yet resolved, the man seemed to look even more relieved than before. Most likely because he wasn't worried Owl would 'escape' and leave his family at the crucial moment. Not to mention remembering Owl's strength, Thomas became more confident. If he initially thought the chances of survival were only 10%, then now ...

The chances of survival are at least 50%!

Is 50% that much? Yes ... it is not much, but also not a little. Being in the middle, it means one of the two cards is live. Different from before, where out of ten cards there is only one that symbolizes life.

"Sorry to keep you waiting a long time, Mr. Thomas."

Since he had been the 'keeper' of the Thomas family as well as their hope, Adam no longer called the man a formal designation because it was not necessary. He no longer needed to persuade them. In fact, the situation now turned around because they needed him so much.

"Absolutely not."

Thomas put the teacup on the table before standing up and shaking hands with Adam. The man looked at the appearance of the figure in front of him, the white masked young man with a black short-sleeved shirt. Still wearing leather gloves, and black socks despite being inside the house. Looking at a slim but strong looking body, coupled with white skin that is not inferior to the manicured skin of a girl ... Thomas was quite envious.

"Please sit down" said Adam after he sat down on the sofa.

Seeing Thomas returning to his seat, the young man then continued.

"Kevin's fine, right?" ask Adam.

"Yes." Yeah." Thomas nodded. "Among the three of us, it was probably the child who was the most active and did not feel bothered by this case. He also knew that his life was in danger. But Kevin insists that everything will be fine because you will protect him."

"..."

Hearing that, Adam did not immediately reply. The boy smiled behind his mask. Although it was a bit exaggerated, it seemed like Kevin really thought of him as a hero in real life. Of course, he also knew that Thomas also deliberately flattered himself to be happy and to really protect Kevin with all his might.

In fact, without being told Adam intended to protect Kevin with all his energy. The reason is actually quite simple. He got involved in this guessing game because of Kevin. If until the boy is 'caught' first, Adam has no idea what will happen to him. In order to prevent any possibility that put him in fatal danger if careless, the young man really intended to protect himself and Kevin with all his abilities.

"What about Kevin's friends and their 'guardians?" ask Adam.

"That's .. there's actually a little problem, Mr. Owl."

"Oh?" Adam raised the corner of his eyebrow. "What's wrong? Does anyone disagree?"

"It's not so ..."

"Then?" ask Adam.

"We were confused where to meet. Should I take them to the Mystery Department headquarters?"

"Don't." Adam shook his head lightly.

The young man was quite relieved. He did not think that everyone would agree. The reason they agree is likely because they are distressed and confused looking for a solution. So, even if it was a small possibility.

"Then ... where should we meet, Mr Owl? Do you have any advice?"

"Of course" said Adam in an indifferent tone.

"Where?"

"The empty house where the children first met with 'She' and were framed."

"You mean ..."

"Yes." Yeah." Adam grinned behind his mask. "Rather than us waiting for 'He' to come to play, we better go to him, right?"

"Isn't that a little too careless?" thomas asked with a worried expression.

"..."

Seeing Thomas just be quiet, Adam explained.

"If it wasn't for Kevin explaining it yesterday, I wouldn't know where it was. Despite not knowing what to fight and how strong 'She' is, at least .. We can't just sit back and wait for death."

"Then what should we do now?" ask Thomas.

"Call them. Invite them to come to the location on the day of the game, of course .. make sure they come before sunset."

Hearing Adam's serious remarks, Thomas nodded.

"Understand."

Looking towards Thomas who was getting busy calling, Adam did a stretch. Feeling more relaxed, the young man said in his mind.

Let's end this shitty game soon.

***

Afternoon, three days later.

On the outskirts of City B, there is a two-story old house made of wood. Seeing a house so old, moldy, and seemingly collapsing at any moment made Adam blink his eyes.

I know it's in suburban B. It's just .. how did the kids get to this place from the downtown area?

Thinking from any angle, Adam did not understand at all. Looking at the front and back yard of the house overgrown with high weeds made him shake lightly. Wooden fencing that acts as a barrier to land rights also looks rickety. Even without the existence of 'She', it was obvious that this place was dangerous. Be it a house that can collapse at any time, weeds that may be filled with poisonous insects or snakes, and several other things that can endanger safety. Especially children's safety.

"Have those people not arrived yet?" adam asked with a smile behind his mask.

This time, Adam came along with Thomas and Kevin. Linda actually also wanted to come along, but Adam refused firmly because the woman would likely just be a burden. Not to mention, Linda had nothing to do with it.

Although Thomas? Adam actually wanted to make the man wait at home because it did not fall into the 'player' category'. But the man kept begging to go to protect his son. Yes ... Adam could only hope that Thomas would not become a burden to him. After all, this was not just an ordinary children's game, but a game that risked lives.

"Not yet." Thomas shook his head lightly.

"Have we come too early?" ask Adam.

"No. We're coming on time."

"Then ... Why haven't they arrived yet? They wouldn't be stupid enough to try to escape, would they?"

"It shouldn't be" Thomas said, shaking lightly. "At best, they are now doubtful. But they will surely come before the sun goes down."

"Are you sure?" ask Adam to fool around.

"They may be arrogant, even quite stupid. But they won't break the promise because they have great self-esteem."

"Let's just say they don't want to be labeled liars who keep hiding in the mask of hypocrisy." Adam said in a relaxed tone.

"..."

Thomas did not immediately reply, but he clearly agreed with what Adam had said.

After waiting for some time until the sun was about to sink, the sound of a car rang out from a distance. Looking at the few cars that finally came, Adam raised the corner of his lips. Looking at the orange sky, it was almost red .. he said in a cold tone.

"Since everything has arrived, let's get ready to start the game."
